Seeing JK’s 4 minutes of screen time in Saturday Night is making me really ponder a whiplash AU that’s centered around Neiman trying to be an up and coming actor in the ruthless show business, and Fletcher is a shitty mentor/agent/etc. Neiman is a fresh face in the community, a rookie with stars in his eyes and a passion to make it big. Of course, the only person that even thinks to take him on is the brutal and cynical Fletcher. Oh boy, oh boy.

Re-watching Whiplash makes it way easier to notice all the hoops Flether jumps to not make it obvious how much he's favoritizing Neiman. The first time he pops into the classroom he makes everyone play, pretending that he's giving everyone a fair chance, afterwards he even gives an exhausted sigh, and finally tells Neiman in a whisper to join his band tomorrow
