basil hallward is braver than any us marine
Hello, hi! Making this post because I still have a loooot of these buttons! They’re 37mm / 1.45 inches in size, I put the coin next to it for comparison.
As much as I’d love to give them away for free, it’s 1,50€ (1,76$) for me to ship them in an envelope which is why I’d ask you to send me that amount via paypal. 💌 If you’re interested in one (or more) you can message me on here or via [email protected].
Green Carnation - Love between Men Violet - Love between Women Iris - well, there’s no official flower for Love between Non-Binary People, but @lesbiansirius (thank you once more!!) came up with the Iris which is named after the greek goddess for the rainbow, the yellow ones meaning Passion, Hope, Courage… and it has such a nice shape imo!
Looove xx
If Basil, Lord Henry and Dorian are all based off Wilde, (“Basil Hallward is what I think I am: Lord Henry is what the world thinks of me: Dorian is what I would like to be—in other ages, perhaps.”), does that mean that Dorian killing Basil means that who Wilde wished he was triumphed over who he is, and that Lord Henry lived longer than both Basil and Dorian means that what the world thinks of Wilde will be how he is remembered?

Where there is sorrow, there is holy ground. –Oscar Wilde

Wilde’s writing style fascinates me, because although he’s frequently accused of writing in purple prose (this being a staple of Aestheticism/Decadence), he actually writes in a much clearer, more succinct way than his contemporary Realists, such as Hardy
THIS GUY WAS HITTING ON ME AND MAKING ME SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE, SO I TOLD HIM I HAVE A BOYFRIEND (because he seemed like one of those guys who, whilst they don’t respect women, they do respect another man’s “claim” on a woman) AND HE WAS LIKE “PROVE IT; SHOW ME A PICTURE” SO I SHOWED HIM THE BACKGROUND ON MY MOBILE AND HE BELIEVED ME
THIS IS MY MOBILE BACKGROUND:
I TOLD HIM IT WAS A PICTURE OF MY BOYFRIEND IN COSTUME FOR A PLAY. THANK YOU OSCAR WILDE FOR GETTING THAT FUCKBOY TO LEAVE.

Oscar Wilde Anecdote #85
Asked by the press whether he thought The Importance of Being Earnest would be a success he said: “My dear fellow, you have got it wrong. The play is a success. The only question is whether the first night’s audience will be one.”
A quick summary of Basil, Lord Henry, and Dorian’s relationship
Fun Fact: Apparently Oscar Wilde was 6’3”, which in the 1870s would have been the equivalent of like 6’7”-6’9” tall. He was so ridiculously huge and awkward that one of his friends described him as looking like a “great white caterpillar.” That is all.
When his lover’s father ( one of the founding father’s of boxing as a sport) showed up to kick his ass, Oscar stood up, pulled a gun and said something like “I don’t know what the Queensberry rules are, but the Oscar Wilde rule is to shoot on sight.”
I feel like you might be interested to know that there's also a webseries adaptation of The Importance of Being Earnest on youtube. It's called "In Earnest", and it's a few years old so the entire series is available. Oscar Wilde is also a character in "Edgar Allan Poe's Murder Mystery Dinner Party" webseries. Thanks for reblogging my gifset! (this is violivs on my personal blog btw)
yes! i’ve seen this around and it’s on my list to watch! thank you so much for reaching out, it’s very appreciated :) and for making content!
i’ve also eyed ‘the writing majors’ (i think?) where oscar, jane austen and emily dickinson are college roommates, unless i’m misremembering. that looks potentially amazing too!
Conan Doyle was amazed and inclined not to believe that Wilde had read and enjoyed [his recent book] Micah Clarke. Had he been familiar with Wilde’s reviewing, he would have known that Wilde read new work voraciously, and his besetting weakness, surprisingly, was undue generosity to other writers.
