Topi (Damaliscus korrigum)
…is a species of antelope commonly found in the savannas and grasslands of sub-Saharan Africa. Like most ungulates topis are often found grazing on vegetation, usually in large socially organized herds which are usually headed by a dominant male. Despite their large size topis are actually quite fast and have been recorded reaching speeds of up to 50mph, making them one of the fastest antelopes in Africa.

Four bear cubs climb up a tree for safety as an alpha male approaches them. Fearing for her cub’s lives the mother bear urged them to scramble up the nearest tree trunk while she kept watch on the ground. The scene was captured by photographer Lauri Tammik in woods in north Finland. Picture: Lauri Tammik/Rex Features
