Will managed to bypass most of the monstrosity's that plagued Elias streets with ease. He snuck between the shadows of the poorly lit street lights and abandoned cars. Sirens pierced his ears but their was no help to be found. Shops were broken in to and damaged leaving trails of broken glass behind. Flames began to engulf some of the buildings as Will made his way into the center of the city where most of the chaos seemed to take place. He could no longer hide within the realm of the darkness, there was no shelter left to do so. Stepping into the light Will began to pick up the pace. Running pass civilians and urging them to run the other way or to go back home. Even shielding a couple of teenagers from falling debris. It was too much to take on for one man alone but he knew others were out there somewhere fighting for the same cause.
His feet carried him as his eyes scanned the streets for a monster to sink his sword into. However to his surprise there wasnât one in sight. It left him feeling uneasy as the sense of dread once more sent a chill down his spine. But there was no time to think. If there was no monsters around he had to focus on getting the residents out of town. Which is exactly what he did as he ran throughout the streets.
It wasnât until he came across the sound of faint crying that he sheathed his sword once more. Cautiously he made his way towards the sound. Pulling out his dagger for a more close ranged attack. He gripped the handle as tightly as he could and took a sharp turn around an abandoned car to where to sound originated from. Ready to attack he kept his arm steady and his eyes focused. But once he turned to see what it was he found himself looking down upon a small child rather than a monster.
She was crying, curled up in small ball. Will immediately dropped his arm to his side and bent down on his knees to meet the Childs height. She look frightened of him so he held his hands up to let her know that it was safe. âAre you alright little one?â Will asked softly. The child shook her head no as she tried to wipe her tears away. âI canât find my mommy.â She spoke in another sob. âWeâll find her I promise. But we need to get you out of here, okay? Itâs not safe.â He spoke then quickly removed his leather jacket and placed it around the girls icy shoulders. It was summer and yet the air was bitterly cold. He knew he couldnât take the child with him not when there was danger still lurking about but he also needed to ensure her safety. Quickly he scooped the child into his arms and began to search for her parents. However the further Will made it into the middle of the city the more uneasy he felt. He was running at this point feeling the urgency of finding shelter.
So uncomfortably so that it stopped Will dead in his tracks. He gripped tightly to the child within his arms. Scanning the area around them looking for any sign of an invasion. âWhat is it?â The little girls voice managed to squeak out. âSomethings wrong.â Will responded and instinctively took a few steps back. âItâs not safe here.â
Before Will Turner even had time to think something crashed so harshly into the ground in front of him that it rumbled the earths core. Will knelt closely to the ground trying to shelter the girl from oncoming debris of cement and dirt. Once he had a chance to look up at his opponent he was met with not just two eyes but six. The creature was a gruesome mix between three animals causing Wills stomach to churn. It was unlike the others that he came across earlier in the night. However he didnât have time to think. The child within in his arms was his first priority. He set her down as fast as he could and gripped her tightly by the shoulders. âYou have to go now. You canât stay with me. Run as fast as you can! As fast as your feet can carry you! You do not stop until you find somebody to help, understand?â The girl only began to cry harder but Will hastily tried to convince her to run knowing his time was being cut in half by now.
Unsheathing his sword he took a few steps closer towards the monstrosity that growled before him. He outstretched his arms protecting the child behind him. âNot her. You want to fight, You'll have to go through me first.â Steadily as he could Will raised his sword in position getting ready to strike. Whipping his head back he shouted so loud that his throat burned. âGo, NOW!â Finally the girl took Wills warning and began running towards the opposite direction.
Given the situation Will felt a wave of relief wash over him. As he gripped the handle of his sword tightly he looked into the eyes of evil. He thought for a moment about the people he loved. Elizabeth, Caspian, Emily...hell he was even beginning to like Monty. All good people, all people he loved. Will wasnât one to swear but given the situation it was more than appropriate.
âAlright bitch, letâs dance.â
Then all at once Will sped towards the monster aiming for one of itâs three heads.
