Will is the main character of stranger things not Eleven as much as I love Eleven I hate the way that people act like she’s the sole focus of the show. stranger things has always been centred around Will it started with his disappearance and it ended with him accepting himself the whole five seasons have been about him and his unique experience of being a queer boy in the 80s. while El is incredibly important to the story she is not the main character and is instead a catalyst in Will’s story her presence marks the start of change in Will’s life she’s heavily paralleled to him and acts as a reflection of him.

As the writers have continuously stated the show is about Will. Will and his trauma are central to the story only people with media literacy can catch onto how the show shows Will’s journey of self discovery as he finds acceptance in his identity. A lot of people claim that El is the protagonist because they either take the show at face value or ignore Will’s story out of their own bias.

Stranger things is about Will he’s the main character and stop erasing his importance just because you lack the ability to analyse media.
