Haven't updated much--life's just been busy. All's good, and not much has changed from our "new normal". The three of us--Jake, Sophie, and I spent most of Memorial Day together. Went to the pool, came back to our place and cooked a meal together. Could never have imagined that a year ago, but it honestly wasn't weird or awkward at all. It's actually very comforting to have the interaction, and it's kind of funny to see how Sophie and Jake interact with each other. Almost like brother-sister in a non-weird kind of way. Not lovey-dovey or emotional. Just sort of friends...who also fuck.
The evening ended with exactly that-a lot of fucking. Started with Sophie and me, but before I finished she was on him. I think she came three or four times between us before either of us finished.
At work this morning, got a text from my wife simply saying, "Good morning babe...I love you...I told Jake to send it to you..."
Curious, I text back, "send what?" She says, "you'll see..."
A few minutes later, I get a text from Jake, a five+ minute video. He just said, "yesterday was a good day". I click on it, and it's not anything I haven't seen before, but it was intense. I want to talk just a little about last night's conversation with Sophie. Yesterday was a pretty normal day for us. "Normal", in the sense that it happens at least once a week. Sophie spent some time at Jake's. First time they'd been together in about a week or so.

She assured me that it wasn't the case--and honestly I completely believe her reasoning: she feels a little guilty that she's having "all the fun". I wonder, though, if it wasn't a way of testing me a bit. Because from the beginning, I have always sincerely said that I had not interest in anyone other than her. In fact, my desire for her (no secret or surprises here) have only skyrocketed since the whole Jake thing. Not that I wasn't insanely attracted to her before, but you probably know what I mean.
It could have been her way of asking me if I had thought about it. Honestly, I hadn't. But the suggestion was impossible to ignore. I asked if she had anyone in mind shortly after she asked me the same question. She didn't--or at least she said she didn't.
So, I don't know. Maybe it was just a fishing expedition for her, or another way to talk about things. We ended up making love, and like most times after a meeting with her FWB, it was slow and sensual.
Haven't posted much lately just because there's not much new to talk about. Appreciate all the messages asking me if everything's ok. Yes, it is, but I do want to talk about what's on my mind lately.
The situation is pretty "normal". Sophie and Jake see each other at least once or twice a week. Sometimes I'm there (usually a "date" night), but more often it's a during-the-day dalliance for them. It's all working very well--sure has ignited a "spark" for her and for us. We're having more sex now than we have since the first 6 months we were married. The last time I saw it was last weekend. It was a great evening--the three of us went out Friday night for a casual dinner and a drink. We talked about our week, work, life in general. Read your post about "gen z" women and men, and wow, I could not agree more. My wife and I are millennials, and her lover is on the older side of "z" and the young side of millennial, but what he's expressed to us matches with what you say 10000%. By all accounts, and I say this as a completely straight man and even an older brother type mentor to him, but he would be an excellent "catch" to any woman his age. But according to him, and I believe this, every woman he dated ended up being a complete terror--and by that I mean super liberal, looking down upon him as a traditional "masculine" guy. And don't get me wrong--it's not like he's some super macho stereotype. He's just more of a traditional role kind of guy, looking for a wife who loves being a mother and would rather be a mom than a CEO. Instead, all he finds are women who expect either perfection or some kind of de-masculine-ization.
Anyway, serendipitously, we met him and the relationship clicked. He gets it, and frankly my wife is an outlet for him. Sexually at the very least. I think that's why it works so well. It's providing him with something that every guy no matter what age (but especially at his age) needs, which is physical and sexual affirmation. For my wife, it's the same, and of course just like what you've said the wives get something more than just that out of it--the desire of a man who isn't obligated to desire her is like a drug.
I kind of think this whole dynamic is exactly why "ethical non-monogamy" is becoming more prominent, especially in the context of younger men (25-35ish) being the "third" to couples in their late 30's and older. It's the general attitudes and conceits of the women their own age. And I know I generalize greatly here, because of course there are always exceptions. But my guess is that the gender gap you mention does a natural weeding of sorts--the men and women whose values match typically couple up in the early to mid 20's. Given that a greater percentage of men in that group are more "conservative" than the women, that means that by the late 20's/early 30's there are more "traditional" men who are single than there are women, which leaves a supply glut, so to speak. Makes perfect sense to me.
Well said. I agree. That seems to me, from what I'm seeing, to make perfect sense. At the risk of being a betrayal to my gender, when I work with women and men in their 20's and early 30's, I see a common theme--the guys haven't changed much since I was that age. The women? If I was a guy it would be a massive turn-off. Entitled, narcissistic, and generally just not pleasant to be around. It's no mystery to me why a traditional guy would be attracted to a situation like yours.

Glad to hear it is going well. Your final remark is exactly what makes ENM so appealing to me. My wife still has to get used to that concept. I hesitate to encourage anyone else to do anything like this, because every relationship is different and every person is unique. There's like 100,000 different decision matrixes that go into anything like this. For us, it was just a simple slow melding of interests. No topics or anything that moved the needle--just a communication between us about it all, plus the opportunity. We both knew Jake socially, and the orbit kept getting closer and closer. Sophie probably made the biggest step in flirting with him a bit, which he reciprocated carefully. It was only after talking to me, though, that he "got it". That said, it takes so many factors to do this "correctly"--my motivation, her motivation, his motivations all have to be in sync. That's rare from what I hear.

Thanks, and I know I haven't posted here recently much. It's not bad--it's just that I have nothing interesting really to write about. You're right--the "honeymoon phase" is largely gone (I think, although Sophie and Jake might have a different opinion). It's just sort of routine--she sees him a couple of times a week. We've been having sex far more than before, so that helps with any lingering insecurities on my part. Every once in a while we all three get together, which now that the awkwardness of it is gone is more fun.
As for exploring my feelings about it--I'm secure in it all. I know she loves me. She reassures me constantly. I know she loves having sex and the thrill of another man. I get pleasure from her pleasure.
