âAre you always this paranoid?â Erik questioned before resuming his walk behind William.Â
âI think you mean cautious.â William corrected.

âI had plenty of people tell me Iâm crazy. Turns out I am. And now Iâm getting paid for it.â

Since the incident with Erik, Rose had yet to feel safe outside of her place. Jumpy, paranoid, but determined not to let him scare her into isolation, she continued her daily outings as if nothing had happened. She was making her usual trek to the coffee shop - the Saloon was a place she was avoiding at all costs for the time being - when she felt someone grab her elbow. Her newfound paranoia bubbled to the surface and she reacted before she could think, grabbing the offending limb and bending it away from her. âWhat the hell do you-â Her breath hitched and she dropped the arm as if it had burned her - though he was a warlock after all so it wasnât entirely impossible that it wasnât just in her head -
âYou⊠youâre deadâ
In a classic case of fight or flight she could do neither; her feet planted firmly on the ground refusing to move, her hands curled into fists instead of grabbing at the firearm that was only inches from them. She was hit by a tidal wave of emotions, too many for her to process at once so she focused on the ones most prevalent - rage and confusion. How was he here? His spell had failed, her very existence was proof of that. She remembered grieving over his lifeless body, not yet dead long enough to be cold to the touch, had grieved until she had found out that everything between the two of them had been a lie. She had grieved for him after that too.Â
On the long list of things of things unlikely to ever happen, this was right after the zombie apocalypse and alien invasion - and yet there were no zombies or extraterrestrials in sight, just him.Â
After what feels like days of staring, Rose finally managed a semblance of composure, crossing her arms in nonchalance that she is certain isnât reflected in her face, her poker face being reliable of late âSo much for you rotting in hell for eternityâ
Part of the man was surprised it had taken this long for him appear to her properly, and not just doing it on the first day he had arrived back in town. It wasnât like he had exactly needed to build up the courage to bring himself to do it, not even close. In fact, the waiting around had practically made him psychotically anxious, but showing up without sussing things out at all surely would have been a mistake. Not that any of this was going to be sunshine and roses.
âDead man walking, incidentally.â The words sounded so casual as he said them -- almost too relaxed. That wasnât anything like he was feeling, not really. To see the girl in which his mind had kept conjuring images of for years was not in any sense soothing. Not when he knew what he had done to her, what he could still do. It wasnât guilt he felt, but rather an intense recognition of the terrible person he was.
âYou didnât really want that, did you?â Blue eyes were narrowed as they peered at her closely, trying to figure out just what could be going on in that mind of hers. She probably did hate him, but that couldnât be all there was -- Heaven knew it wasnât the case for him.

âThank you,â Cadence smiled warmly as he sat, raising her eyebrows, âI always liked William, it sounds so.. masculine.âÂ
He laughed. âI suppose it does, never thought about it. What do you do here in Arcadia, Cadence?â
tangledxmagic :
Amanda blinks and cocks a brow. âSo anyone who is going the same way as you, must be following?â
William scoffed. âItâs spoken from a cautious mindset.â
lydia-doe :
Lydia stopped short as he turned around, rocking back on her heels. âI called your name back there, guess you didnât hear meâŠâ she cocked her head to the side. âDid you find some place to stay?â
An eyebrow rose as he regarded the familiar girl. âI see, and yes. An apartment, itâs not very luxurious but it will do. Did you?â
thexdarkxwithin :
âBeing patient can suck donkey balls sometimes.â Ambers attention span could be pretty bad, but even more so when she was boredâthen it became almost impossible to focus. She canât help but sport a smile when he agrees to go and buy a scotch. She half expected him to say no, so the young blonde puts her elbows on the table and rests her chin on one hand, waiting for him to return.
âGracefully put, but yes.â The girl was different from most he affiliated himself with, but surprisingly he found that he could somewhat sense a like mind in her. If only a little bit. William stuffed his hands in his pockets while he waited; once the bartender handed him the drinks, he sauntered back over to their table and pushed hers over to her.
huntertaliamoore :
âYouâll believe me when it is too late.â She raised her eyebrows. She wondered what the guy knew. She wondered what he was. She wondered who he was. She did know that she was in Arcadia. Where there was smoke, there was fire. Where there were threats, there were people dying.Â
âIs that so?â A rather devilish smile played with the corners of his lips. âI mean, I can definitely admire confidence but I also like seeing people live up to what they say about themselves.â
heavyheartedwitch :
âWho are you to think that I could not?âÂ
Amelia hated fights, but the hint of amusement on his face made her feel inexplicably furious. Not to mention that she was so damn tired of being underestimated. She was not the weakest witch in Arcadia and she would not allow anyone to treat her like that. Not tonight.Â
William laughed, but it was not a nice sound. It was cold, and full of a patronizing darkness. âIf I told you that, youâd run off screaming. We donât want to ruin such a lovely night, do we?â
This attitude; this willingness to fight and argue was not unlike the man in the slightest. A little more unusual was how utterly convinced he was this time around that he could win anything that was thrown at him.
em--harris :
Her dark eyes followed the man as he approached her, yielding no expression as she waited for him to initiate conversation. She recognized the man;s voice easily, though she had not heard it for long, due to her personal goal of remembering every one of the people involved in Evelynâs group. William. âIâm sure anything is a step up from gym clothes,â she mused, appraising his outfit before meeting his gaze, âI could say the same for you.â
He would have been slightly offended if she hadnât have recognized him; once it became clear that she did, a knowing smile graced his lips. âYou could definitely say that.â William moved his gaze away from her for a moment to survey their surroundings, watching all of the people attempt to catch attention with their dramatic outfits and appearances. The warlock looked back at her again. âIt must feel exhilarating, to be one of the most beautiful people in the room.â

âNo thank you.â
Emmaâs masked eyes followed the waiter as he disappeared back through the crown, mingling among the guests as he held coveted flutes of sparkling champagne. Though the night was supposed to be an enjoyable night full of love and fancy outfits, she thought it best to keep her wits about her. This town always had something up its sleeve when it came to events and this one made it even easier for the wolves to blend in with the sheep. Her eyes drifted away from the golden liquid to another standing in the crowd as she felt someoneâs gaze in her direction.
William didnât like champagne, so he made do with his own flask which he had tucked safely away in the pocket of his suit jacket. With his standard black mask, the warlock thought he was doing pretty well with not standing out from the crowd. And for once, he actually didnât mind. It made it easier to sneak around and to do what he liked. Spotting the woman, he was almost positive he knew who it was beneath the mask. Even if he hadnât, it would have been incredibly hard not to approach the beauty. The male tilted his chin as he made his way over to her. âYou scrub up well.â
heavyheartedwitch:
âStop talking before I curse your ass.â The witch threatened in the sweetest tone, but her smile did not even resemble the kind-hearted version that she would usually offer.Â
Amelia did not know why she felt so bothered; All that she knew was that it would be for the best if no one tried to mess with her tonightâŠ
âTo think that you could possibly go up against me is cute, really.â Tonightâs mood was a strange one. Was it possible to feel more like himself than ever?
rayvang :
Ray rose an eyebrow when he saw William, a book in hand. âFollowing you would be the last thing I want to doâ He murmured, knowing that the rest of the coven must be getting up to no good.Â
William shot a humourless smile to the other. âI donât know whether to be relieved or disappointed.â
elizabethmarshalls :
The offer made whatever argument Elizabeth had ready fall to the wayside. She gave him a bit of a surprised look before smiling. âI would really appreciate it, if you donât mindâ She told him, happy to see some friendliness in her town after so many bad things have happened. âIâm Elizabeth by the way. Or you can just call me Liz. Or Lizzie.âÂ
False charm was just another addition to the list of things he was capable of, and nowhere near one of the worst. If it took buying some girl a coffee to get information, he would take the opportunity. She wasnât with Evelynâs coven, so where did she belong exactly? âItâs nice to meet you, Liz. Iâm William.â Maybe he would get lucky enough for her to not have heard of him.
lexibramptonrpg :
âThe only time weâve spoken you acted like a bitch baby, safe to say I havenât formed much of an opinion yet.âÂ
âThatâs bold of you, isnât it? I recall you were the one flying out of there. Not me.â
torres-natalia :
âFollowing? Iâm just heading in the same direction as you. I didnât know that was a crime these days?â
âUh, itâs not. It just feels more like following.â He shrugged. He sounded like an idiot.
