A fascinating little-known fact about the Korean War is that an American surgeon, David Ralph Millard, stationed there to treat burn victims, invented a double-eyelid surgical procedure to make Asian eyes look Western, which he ended up testing on Korean sex workers so they could be more attractive to GIs. Now, it’s the most popular surgical procedure for women in South Korea.

My lesbianism is the avenue through which I have learned the most about silence and oppression, and it continues to be the most tactile reminder to me that we are not free human beings - Cherrie Moraga

this site and twitter are extremely wack for the fact that there are (for instance) allowed to be 40 million different schools of thought on leftist economics, but theres only one strain of acceptable feminism, or you will be attacked for “selfish” priorities. and that strain is extremely liberal and superficial and focused mostly on validating peoples individual feelings instead of treating sexism as the massive systemic issue that it is. there have literally always been a ton of different types of feminism that prioritize different things. and like it or not, the feminism that has accomplished things for women over the course of the 20th century (at the beginning of which we could not even vote) was the one that approached sexism as a structure to be torn down. treating sexism any other way is fucking stupid because of course women disagree, there are pro-life women, republican women, they number in the millions. sexism is not individual in literally any way.
