Was pleasantly surprised by how this one came out. The original pattern (#71977 by Odanak1811 on braceletbook) was done up in red, white blue and black and I just thought it looked like Xs with dots on top. Decided to go with a different palette and now I can see little snake heads! The two diamonds on the side are like eyes, there’s a figure eight running down the face, and the bottom of the X is like a forked tongue. I guess it popped out because red yellow and black, and solid green, are colors I associate with snakes.

Was feeling fancy so I tried my hand at a solid color teardrop loop and transverse four-strand braids for the ties. I think they came out good! Wish I could have shifted the pattern down a little at the start so I wasn’t cutting off any snakes, but I’ll know for next time if I ever do this pattern again. Going to call this one Rasta Snakes

Made this for MashaKnots’s April challenge of spring-themed bracelets. I immediately wanted to make something with pastels. Not entirely happy with the edges but I do like the ribbon effect. Calling this one Pastel Rainbow, you can find the pattern as #52068 by jspell on braceletbook

I do like the ties and the sunset sky. I’m not sure I’m happy with how the colors came out at the bottom; I think darker colors would have made for a better match to the darker tree silhouettes. And there’s hardly a distinction between the ocean and sand. But Mom likes it and that’s what matters. Next she wants me to make an airplane. We’ll see how that goes haha

This bracelet was requested by my brother’s girlfriend and it’s super cute! Yin and Yang, pattern is #1804 by Justineyo on braceletbook.

This was my first try at making the shaped edge a solid border color. It’s pulling away a little bit, I think because I did forward knots instead of forward backward. Will have to further experiment. Didn’t snap a pic of what it looks like on before I gave it to her.

Tried my hand at the same pattern again (#4028 by mikkomix on braceletbook) and I’m already improving so much in only a few months! I think the start and end look much neater and the edges are straighter. My fiancé has named this bracelet “Purple Rain” and I love it

Eyes Like Fire: A Soulmate AU

A couple months passed by.  The green in Katara’s eyes started to morph into a rich yellow-gold.  Kya found herself lost in them as she bounced Katara in her lap.  Perhaps it was temporary.  Maybe they would shift again, into a brown, maybe.  Brown eyes, at least, were potential allies.  Golden eyes, though- golden eyes were dangerous. 

Since there’s been some interest in this I’ve decided to post an update.  My work pace is slower than a snail- BUT I haven’t abandoned this WIP by any means.  This is not all of the work I have so far (please note that there are chapters in between that are missing) but it is what I’m happy with.  I’ve included the first couple chapters again because they’ve been slightly reworked.  Hopefully it’s not too much to put it all in one place here.

It’s been a while since I’ve done any art, but figured it would be fun to do the zodiac assignment with my students today. When I was struck with the idea to infuse fire (since Sag is a fire sign) into the design of a centaur archer, I knew I had to try to translate it to paper. Reminds me of Ponyta a little tho, haha. Clearly I’m out of practice on anatomy, but I don’t think it’s too too egregious. If I had some colored pencils I’d color in the flames, and her eyes, which are meant to glow

I was high off my ass last night and had this dream where I was in this dense ass forest and sitting there was a tall woman. She was so tall I couldn’t see her face but she was wearing gold and I was like “uh...hi?” And she said “I made you, do you know that?” And I nodded and she was like “I hear your thoughts. Why do you hate my creation? Why do you try to destroy yourself? I made you perfect as you are. Please don’t break my heart”. Then she started crying and it flooded and I woke up with fucking heart palpitations like what does it Mean™️????

Edit: Ah I just realized I accidentally changed the last line. “Break my heart” would have been better, oh well.
