days 24 - 30 / 30 (+ 3) days of productivity

it's been a long time now. i made it through all 30 days of november, and it still wasn't over because i had a risky final on the 3rd. i have another final (not risky) tomorrow, as well as next week thursday (not as risky, but still important). finals weeks are the closest thing to torture i'll probably ever experience. as for what i've been up to:

studied for my risky automata final for the entire week (needed a 100 to pass with a C-, got like an 80-something obviously)

took my risky automata final (i would've considered it to have "gone well" if it my situation wasn't so dire probably. sometimes life is just like that)

did my final few geology assignments

started reading 'dracula'

did two algorithms assignments

and that's it really. not a long list, but i spent a large amount of time studying for an exam. it was my first time ever trying this hard for an exam, and, while it didn't pay off, i feel like i learned a lot about productivity. i already knew it was difficult and i don't like it, but efficiency definitely pays off more than time and effort. i just wish i figured that out before i was staring at my exam. (curse open-ended exams!!) it took me a while to post since i felt so burnt out afterwards, but it's time to get back on that horse (or whatever the saying is). i think i did well these past 30 days though! i don't think i've ever been so consistently productive in my life. only one overdue assignment. phew. well, i think that's it for me. thanks for all of you looking out for me! i hope you all are well!! good luck with exams!!!

days 21, 22, and 23 / 30

i think this has been the least productive i've been in a while! i've done at least a little each day, but it's hard to stay motivated while you're sick. i wonder how anyone does it. my study schedule has been thrown off like crazy! as for what i've been up to, here's what i did this weekend:

geology assignment 7 (took a nyquil thinking it wouldn't have an effect as usual, knocked out for an hour at work while doing it and got a 60...)

geology assignment 8 (done normally, got a 100)

studied regular languages and expressions for my automata class (the easiest part but i thought i should start with the basics to keep me motivated)

finished 'symphony of the night' on my vita with 198% completion (not productive, but it's truly a fantastic game)

laundry (didn't get to iron and felt too ill to do the dishes so they're getting done tomorrow)

overall, it's been eventful. i'm on a bit of a gothic kick since i've been playing 'sotn' for a minute and i saw 'frankenstein' and remembered how much i loved the original novel (if you love this movie, don't ask for my opinion!! lol). i'll be reading 'dracula' in my free time now that i'm done with my game! anyways, this was more of a diary entry than a study post, but please understand that i'm a little too sick to be less honest. on that note, i hope you're all well! good luck with everything!!

days 13 - 20 / 30

oh my. the posting gap was larger than i thought. in my defense, i've had a busy week, and i've been productive for every bit of it. a bit of what i've done this past week:

participated in a hackathon (historic loss)

spent FIVE WHOLE DAYS on one automata assignment (painful! i didn't even really procrastinate)

dropped a class with a 'W' (it was time and it hurt but i'll get through this semester even if it kills me)

celebrated my birthday! precious 21 i guess

got sick somehow, despite the warm weather, and i think i'll be worse tomorrow

ended up in a gamble for my final exam grade (yikes!)

overall, it doesn't seem like much, but that automata assignment had me by the throat. i'm drowsy and ill and i know tomorrow will be a worse day, but i'm gonna make the most of it! i'll probably start posting more consistently now that i'm taking an hour or three everyday to study for my finals. this is the first time i've ever tried doing this! i just hope it pays off. i hope you're all well!!

days 10, 11, and 12 / 30

another three-day gap between posts. i feel a bit embarrassed about it admittedly, but i can say with pride that i have been productive regardless. as for what i've been doing:

submitted all of my algo assignments that i've been working on in the past week (due tonight, didn't procrastinate too bad!)

currently working on my automata homework (super difficult, hopefully i make it count)

went out to eat with my book club! (a rare outing for me, but i had fun. verdict on the book: everyone hates it)

ran some general errands (sent a birthday letter in the mail to a friend that went away for college, sorted laundry, typical housekeeping)

it's been getting pretty cold lately, or cold for Texas at least. It's been even colder at work since the heater is broken. It's always been cold in there, but now it's just unbearable. i used to sneak out for 15 minutes just to bask in the sun, but now that it's cold out, i can't even do that. i get a lot done while I'm there though, and my coworkers are nice, so it's really not too bad. i've started a project that technically counts as procrastination, but i hope things get going so i can share it with you guys!

that being said, i'll try to start posting a little more consistently, so please don't give up on me haha. only 2/3rds of november left! i hope all of you are well!!

days 7, 8, and 9 / 30

i had a long weekend, which seems kinda like a lie since i didn’t post on those days, but you’re just gonna have to believe me. i cleaned my entire apartment. i don’t think my apartment has been this clean since the day we moved in. it’s good for me, really. some things that were on my agenda this past weekend:

study for my geology exam

take my geology exam (got an 88, pretty good)

work on my algo homework (one part could be finished by tomorrow, we’ll see)

submit linear homework (sucks to keep doing it when i’m gonna drop it next week…)

grocery shopping (didn’t do this)

buy liquid multivitamins at the pharmacy (they didn’t have any, which was ??)

make ceviche (will be doing this right after i post, at midnight, watching jigsaw perhaps)

clean room, restroom, living room, etc…

laundry (just need to iron now)

my parents came to visit today, which was nice. my mom brought dinner and it was really good. i’m not the person she’s always wanted me to be, but i try my best so that she won’t notice. i think it’s going to be chilly tomorrow, so i’ll wear something warm.

day 6 / 30

a bit of an odd productivity day for me. i went to therapy for the first time (scary but so necessary), hung out with a friend, went to class, ate probably the worst sushi i’ve ever had in my life, and did a little bit of a few couple assignments. it’s really nice when nothing is due and you can work on bits and pieces instead of burning out on one thing.

maybe that’s what it’s like all the time if you don’t procrastinate like i do. i wonder if exams are like that too. (those of you who know, let me know too!) i think i’ll try doing a little more each day and see how it goes.

by the way, i’ve noticed that a lot of people having been keeping an eye on me! i hope i won’t let you down haha

a fun fact about me: i used to love photography. developing the film was the fun part

day 4 & 5 / 30

it's hard keeping a blog when you're not used to posting anything at all! it's also hard making it pretty when you rarely take photos haha

as for the productivity part, it's been a long two days, even though i don't feel like i've done much. some things i got done:

took my computer algorithms midterm!! could've gone way better but it also could've gone worse

finished two quizzes for my geology class

started studying for my third geology exam

went to office hours for my (possibly) failing class to talk to my professor about my options. he's way more optimistic than i am so i feel a bit bad

started my book from my book club ('haunting of hill house')

signed up for classes! (one class on the waitlist, curse early enrollment students)

i don't have anything due tomorrow, so i think i'll try studying for my automata class instead of waiting for an assignment to pop up and scare me. thanks for everyone looking out for me! i hope i won't let you down!

day 3 / 30

didn't post yesterday, but i was still productive nonetheless. no photo post today either because i'm studying for my midterm tomorrow (!!!) and i always get a bit frazzled.

i checked the damage done by a different exam from last week and it seems i'll have to withdraw from one of my classes. it sucks real bad, but i'd rather not tank my gpa out of my weird sense of pride. i've been wavering a bit mentally, but i think i'll be okay in the end so that's really all that matters. i don't think i should hinge my entire being and self-worth on whether or not i can write answers on a page in the span of an hour and 30 minutes without making mistakes. all i can do is keep moving forward and hope that this pressure doesn't tear me down. i feel a bit sad obviously, since the class isn't even hard and my professor is so nice to me, but there is so much more to life i guess. pretty sad, but realistic.

regardless, i'll go home for the weekend and let my mother forgive me for it, even if i'll never tell her what i did.

first day doing this and i’m already struggling. it’s tough starting on a weekend. i hope i can get a little better at this, but after a certain point, i’m gonna have to confront my worst habits. anyways, it wasn’t the worst way to start off. here’s today’s to-do list:

hi everyone! as of right now, i'm planning to run this studyblr for only the month of november.

i wanted to see what it would be like to try and be fully productive for an entire month, so i'm posting it on here for anyone to see (and hopefully keep me accountable). i'm a 20 year old computer science major that loves to procrastinate, so i know this will be a real struggle for me. i'm looking forward to being a part of this community, even if it may be only for a short while :)
