I think he’d rather I busy my fingers with sowing and picking flowers but I think he would be, deep inside. He would never admit to it though. [chuckles a little, admitting to herself that she was getting the hang of the whole steering thing] I do miss it sometimes. The markets in Lys remind me of Old Town. [shrugs a bit] I miss Sunspear too a bit. I’ve learned to call it home too over the last year. [looks over at him] Do you miss it?

[listens to her intently, smiling as she speaks, letting her own words distract her as he just about removes his hands from hers and clasps them behind his back] I miss it some. But like you I call another place home now. The open seas. [smiles back at her, keeping her gaze before he inclines his head towards the wheel to show her that she was steering all on her own now]

[chuckles] Exhilarating, yes. Definitely. What would father say if he saw me like this. He’d be red with anger. [smiles a bit to herself, imagining her father whom she missed] His daughter’s steering a ship. And have managed to meet dragons.

If he wouldn't be proud of you for those two factor's alone then I don't know what to say for him. [chuckles lightly and subtlety eases up on the wheel a little, allowing her to take on more of the weight] Do you miss it? [hesitates a little] your father and... home?

[grows silent for a moment when he speaks of his father and shakes her head lightly] No, it’s alright. [chuckles a bit but shakes her head again] I don’t think I’d be constantly in any ships again when we reach land.

Fair enough... [chuckles lightly as he adjusts their direction a bit and smiles as their front sail allows them to pick up a little speed, keeping an eye on it closely before he settles back behind her so that he wasn't completely hovering over her] You can't tell me this isn't a little bit exhilarating at least. [grins] You're technically steering an army through the dark of the night.

[can’t help but smile impishly at that and relaxes his posture a little] I’m glad you think so. I’d hate to think what father would think of me now… if at all. [scoffs lightly and shrugs it off, his smirk returning at her reaction, quickly resuming his earlier position and squeezes her hand reassuringly] You don’t give yourself enough credit, if you make these nightly visits often I have no doubt you’ll be able to navigate without me. [turns to smile teasingly at her again] But since I don’t want the ship to go down before we get there I guess I’ll keep assisting you.

I’m sure he does… think of you, I mean. What parent won’t think of their children? [shrugs a bit and smiles a little when he puts his hands back on hers] What would I use navigational skills for? I don’t have my own boat to steer.

He certainly didn't think of me when he decided to just ship me off across the seas without bothering to ask me for the truth. [frowns and bites his lip] Forgive me... I meant him no disrespect... [clears his throat, letting a moment pass before he speaks up again, a small smile playing at his lips] Well you never know when you'd have to commandeer a ship. [chuckles lightly and shrugs] Always useful to know how a ship works if you are constantly in one.

Looks can be deceiving. [grins teasingly as he finds his gaze wandering a bit, licking his lower lip unconsciously as he focuses on the sound of her voice and snaps out of it when she breaks his gaze. his smile fades a little and nods] It is. Could’ve done worse, don’t you think? [feigns a smile as his hands ease up on hers] Think you’ve got it?

I think you’ve done well for yourself. [she knows she should stop talking. anything about their family made him uncomfortable, she knew this already] No, don’t let go. [she says abruptly when she feels his hands loosen around hers, gripping the wheel tightly] I mean… I mean I don’t think I can. Like I said… ladies weren’t made to steer ships.

Well you don’t just stand there… [laughs lightly in her ear his gaze unwittingly falling to their fingers before he glanced up past the mast again] alright you do, but whilst standing here there is a million other things you have to take into account. [eases up on her a little but doesn’t move away] The direction of the current, the direction and how fast the wind is blowing and how you might maneuver the ship to use both the current and the wind to your advantage… [tilts his head slightly to look at her with a smirk] Now do you think I just stand here? [grins]

[honestly she’s stopped listening the moment he took her hands. she’s currently trying to muster up the courage to push him off but she couldn’t. her breathing’s uneven and she just nods whenever he says something] It certainly looks like you just stand here. [she smirks a bit, forgetting the bits he said first, then her smirk fades  as she trains her eyes in the moonlit path on the water] So this is your life now…

[smirks a little when he notices her disposition towards him but doesn’t ease up any and takes hold of her hands and places them back on the wheel] You can’t let go of it, otherwise it’ll just follow the current and we’d be off course. [chuckles lightly as his fingers guide hers around the handles, his cheek brushing against hers] You don’t want to hold on too tight either because you need to be ready to change direction at all times.

[lets him take her hands and watches as he places their hands on the wheel, nodding with his instructions] Alright… [swallows and tries to steady her breathing when his cheek brushes over hers, knowing she has to push him away because their proximity was highly inappropriate but does nothing about it] You hold it and then you just stand here?

[smugly watches her struggle for a moment before he feigns a disappointed sigh and pushes himself up to move behind her, his arms slipping around her as he takes hold of the wheel and rights their direction, settling it in place before he speaks low in her ear] Shall we try that again?

[sighs, relieved when he moves to take the wheel but suddenly freezes when she feels him around her, her back pressed against him as he rights the wheel. a shiver runs down her spine when he speaks and she only nods in response]

[continues to look at him with a confused expression and almost yelps when she’s suddenly holding the wheel and standing in his place, suddenly nervous as if she’d crash the ship even though she knows that’s impossible and grows even more nervous when he lets go] What am I doing? What am I going to do? [feels the wheel turn to its own accord, not expecting it to be heavy and tries to pull it back] Wilyam!

[makes a disgusted face for a moment, imagining herself cleaning up after herself, before settling for a quirk of a brow] Your ship? I thought this was the Blacktydes’ ship. [looks ahead, trying to make out the waves in the moonlight and then turning back to him again chuckling humorlessly] Do I look like I’ve steered a ship before, Will? I haven’t even been this close to a wheel before.

[chuckles and rolls his eyes playfully] It's my ship when the captain's away with the first mate. [smirks lightly and shrugs casually at her tone] It was only a question, [chuckles and looks at her expectantly] well?

I—I don’t. [frowns some before shaking her head] Well I was when we first set sail to Lys to find Lady Targaryen. Not so much anymore now I guess. [shrugs and walks closer to stand beside him] I have been enjoying it. But I’ll be better once we arrive and once I see land.

Good. You adapt. [grins wide and quirks his brow at her playfully] Because on my ship you clean what mess you make, and I don't think you'd like that very much. [chuckles] You and me both, I've grown a love for the sea but a ship is still too constricting for my taste. You'll be glad to know that we're not far off now though. [smiles and watches her for a moment before he looks ahead again, grinning cheekily] Have you ever steered a ship before?

[steps out onto the deck, unable to sleep with the rocking and the crashing of waves against the ship and holds her cloak tightly against her as her eyes searched for something—someone] I couldn’t sleep. [walks towards him with a small smile on her face] I was trying to get fresh air actually.
