"you'd think a man of taste would be a bit more discerning on what he displayed, hm?" it's hard to think that someone who values art enough to keep this much of it might think this painting is good β considering the baby's head shape is in the state it's in, but... dorothea had seen plenty of men who thought they knew everything, and still viewed a mess like this as the highest example of art.
in fact, the whole of this room full of art had a few glaring missteps, and dorothea wasnβt even an artist at heart β she was an academic. at least she knew how to categorize things, and didnβt just put up each piece wherever it feel, as this man seemed to. realistically, she shouldnβt be complaining so much β at any moment their host could wander in and find her eviscerating his taste in art, "to each their own, you know? but personally, this should've been kept in storage. i can't imagine what the dowager must think of that depiction of her as an infant."

ABOUT:
Born originally in Philadelphia, Dorothea would never remember it. Both of her parents and their secrets died during the crossing back to her fatherβs homeland of England, and more specifically, Herefordshire. She was left in the care of her aunt and uncle, who took her in as their own β and from then on, she has been a thorn in their side. A curious child that never could find the right time to stop asking why? she was a terror in a dress, always ripping her hems and wading into water to watch the fish and frogs more closely.
Truly, she was not meant for society, yet she was still thrust into it. Pushed into bright colored dresses when sheβd prefer more drab, gray ones β the only bright spot in her early seasons was the time she spent in various bookshops and with other academically minded people in the city. Her correspondence was always backed up, yet she could not fill her dance card, her brash and loud personality not charming many members of the Ton. Sheβs matured a lot since the last season, finding that perhaps she had better settle down with a tolerant spouse, whoβll fund her interests and not force her into the role of homemaker. Now comes the truly tricky part: finding someone who fits the bill.
