one thing that i keep noticing more and more here on tumblr is that pretty much every character seems to get squished into just one single personality
idk if that makes sense but like...i feel like every character in recent fanfics talk the same and has the same tone and personality. take nanami for example, he's described as a "very wise and reserved kind of man, often appearing so calm and indifferent that he comes off as stoic and aloof" in canon, but in so many fics he's written as this rough, dominant guy who's borderline aggressive with his s/o.
he's pretty much molded into the same personality people give sukuna or toji, and it personally throws me off a bit.
theres also this weird trend where characters are written using excessive aave regardless of ethnicity or skin color?? ive seen this pattern across a lot of the bigger and more popular blogs actually, and that's kind of what makes it worse to me bc some of the best written fics that don't follow that pattern barely get any attention. like 200, maybe 400 notes if they're lucky.
now don't get me wrong, I do enjoy reading those type of fics and i say this as a writer myself, but sometimes i'm just a little tired of seeing my favorite characters flattened into this "dominant daddy/frat boy/plug" mold when they’re supposed to be gentler people lmao
