Makuta Parrea
Parrea was the Makuta of Lesovikk's homeland and a member of the Brotherhood of Makuta.
Parrea was responsible for the creation of several Rahi breeds to populate the Matoran Universe during her early life, most notable of which was the Fusa, a breed of mammal Rahi suited to desert landscapes. Displaying some talent in the area, Parrea never fully committed to the role of Rahi Creator, however, possessing more interest in other disciplines.
After the Matoran Civil War, Parrea was assigned to supervise Lesovikk's homeland by Makuta Miserix, who felt she was the least likely Makuta to interfere in the delicate affairs of the fledgling Matoran colony that was struggling to establish itself. Situating herself in the large desert biome of Galria's western region, Parrea established herds of Fusa, to the extent where the central desert region became nicknamed the Fusa Plains. When residing in the desert, Parrea often used her Kanohi Tryna to reanimate fallen Rahi, Visorak and even Matoran to ward off travelers from areas of interest.
During the Dark Times, Parrea notably remained on Galria, supervising the island and conducting research into a mysterious labyrinth at its center. Over time, her contributions towards the advancement of the Brotherhood of Makuta dwindled. Displeased by her apparent lack of loyalty, Makuta Teridax dispatched Gorast to investigate her activities and eliminate the errand Makuta if she proved disloyal to the Brotherhood's agenda. After this encounter, Parrea halted her exploration of the ancient labyrinth and quietly resumed supplying Rahkshi to the Brotherhood's offensive efforts.
Parrea wore a Kanohi Tryna, Great Mask of Reanimation, a Kanohi that enabled her to animate the corpses of dead beings, commanding them to perform basic tasks until she lost concentration.
Sporting a wide arsenal of Protosteel weaponry over the centuries, Parrea armed herself principally with a Rotating Razor Shield, which served as both a defensive and offensive tool capable of channeling her Shadow powers. Prior to the Invasion of Karda Nui, Parrea also equipped herself with a Tridax Pod.
Pridak Revamp
A true departure from the classical style of ice villains, Pridak was an incredibly divisive set when originally released in 2007, and condemned as one of the weaker Barraki designs. Abstract in frame, he was one of several Barraki to experiment with a more fluid design and set designer Brian Ellis’ recent YouTube video has brought some insight into the complicated design process that led to his conceptualization.
Stylized as a shark-piranha hybrid, Pridak was originally intended to have a double-jointed torso, though his design was simplified to accommodate the bloated parts budget of later 2007 sets. The end result was a single Hordika-neck joint propping up two Vahki torsos, which left a great deal to be desired. Unfortunately, this meant that the design also strayed some distance from Brian's original intentions for the figure.
With this revamp, I’ve endeavored to build on the original design intended for Pridak, with my own spin. I’ve added smooth Inika armor plating with red spikes for that shark motif and have even reinforced his legs with period-appropriate TECHNIC links, for the illusion of emaciated muscle.
This was a very fun project to set myself: honor the original design as though there’d been unlimited budget. This isn’t a far cry from my usual ‘simplistic’ design style and I hope I’ve done Pridak some justice by presenting a MOC that could’ve been an official set!
With the addition of Piraka legs and a piston added to his chest, Pridak is now living up to his fullest potential as the leader of the Barraki!

Tahu Mistika - Red Version
In my eyes, Tahu had the best visual presence of the Toa Mistika and was the real standout Toa of the wave. That said, the Metru red coloring always made it harder for me to see him as a continuation in the Toa Nuva of Fire’s proud legacy of sets. I would have loved to have added orange back to his color scheme but no BIONICLE limbs were ever produced in orange beyond 2002.
So instead I’ve opted to colorswap the Metru red elements for their brighter Mata red counterparts! This, of course, presented challenges with the mask and feet, but there’s an easy solution there.
There are a few further modifications to add the Nuva chest armor. I feel this was a necessary adjustment to fill in the shape of his armor. As well, I added the obligatory Roborider heads to his shins and added some further engine details to his thrusters. His hips now also feature a grated slope element (61409). This was a part first introduced in 2008 in Exo Force and Agents subthemes and typically only came in dark bluish gray or lime at the time. I always wanted to get the part in red for various creations back in the day, but it was never available to me. All these years later, I’ve finally found occasion to use it on a creation!
I’ve also paired him with Photok here to add a little of that missing orange armor to his color scheme.
Please consider leaving a thoughtful comment below telling me what your own experiences with Tahu Mistika have been!
Lovely
Tusval, Toa of Gravity.
My self moc. Although I loved his previous iteration, there were some small things I couldn't help but nitpick over. So I decided to rebuild him. My goal was to unify the textures a little better- there were issues with the CCBS clashing with the classic Bonk textures. My eternal struggle in moccing. I also cleaned up the torso significantly. No more open pins and semi-exposed back. I also took away his tool, a scythe, for the time being. I thought it fitting for a Toa of an element as powerful as gravity, as it has a lot of potential as a tool/weapon on its own. I'm really satisfied with how this revamp turned out overall.
Ah, Bionicle. A series where we can say with absolute confidence that these two are the same character:
But it's entirely unclear if these two are the same character:
Tayluu rework
Mask credit goes to Galva.
Coactivus, Toa of Magnetism.
A simple build I made because I had a spare black Huna I wanted to use.
Onua Mistika STARs
I always loved the BIONICLE STARs line. Here we have Onua Mistika in that minimized scale.
Able to adjust his wing tips and fire his Nynrah Ghostblaster, I’m very happy with the end result. I’ve often been criticised for simple builds, especially when it comes to my STARs creations. This is my attempt to use alternate parts and the broader style of Av-Matoran/Agori torso on one of my creations.
It seems my collection of Adaptive Onua custom figures is growing!
Toa of Shadow Vultraz, finally finding his way back home, and looking for a old friend.
Syntrivi, Toa of Glass and infamous thief.
She was tricky but fun to build. This MOC is based on an older character of mine that I wanted to rebuild since I bought a glitter-clear Avohkii. I wanted to give her a rough, almost "leftover parts" kind of aesthetic, like a forgotten project of some Great Being. She's tribeless, friendless, and has never heard of the Toa code, but still approaches every day with a smile.
Hydraxon Revamp
Fantastic titan set, Hydraxon stuck out to me for all the right reasons. I loved his color scheme and the attachment of his various knives. His wrists blades especially always made for a dynamic shape and the use of Exo Force arms as fingers informs LEGO sets to this day.
That said, there’s always room to build. I reinforced his upper torso with a LEGO Sports hockey torso and managed to incorporate a heartlight. I always felt that the use of the Rahkshi legs made the original build seem disproportionate so I’ve carried over the more muscular design of the arms. Now there’s room for lots of posing options!
