FRANCIS.

                “oh yeah, every day i was gone i was just thinkin’ how much i missed you and our times together.” he returned the hug to the man as he allowed his bag to be taken by the other. he enjoyed the other’s company that was for sure, “just fucking tired.”

    “understandable. i’m a pretty incredible guy.” his voice was dripping with sarcasm -- especially because he didn’t believe it himself. it was just a way where he knew it could get some reaction from francis. hopefully a bigger smile if anything. “i get it.” win shrugged. “and i’m gonna be out later.. as usual. so you should get some sleep.”

FRANCIS.

                 francis let out a sigh as he let his bag drop at the gate of the school. “am i really gonna say that i’m happy to be back at this place? god— who am i?” he picked up his bags once more as he sipped on his energy drink. it was kind of unfair he still had assignments, but he couldn’t just pay some first year to do his work for him.

    “shit, you’re just happy to see me. that’s definitely it.” windsor smiled for the first time in days, extending his arm out to give his roommate a quick side hug before reaching to hold onto his bag. he didn’t know how much he really did miss him, but he’d at least humour the thought. “you good, man?”

CAZZIE.

“No cuddles!” Cazzie Hardass Murdock, back at it. “No ten minutes! The turkey bacon is hot!” She walked across the apartment and, gently, pulled the blanket off of him. She bent down and handed him the glass of water that she held in her blanket free hand. Walking back to the kitchen, she began to fold the blanket and turned back to him. “How do you want your eggs?”

She loved Win. And she wished he wouldn’t do this to himself. But it had been like this since they were in their teens. She hadn’t given up on him, if she had, she would have rolled back over last night and ignored his messages completely. 

    “whaddya mean ‘no cuddes’? don’t be like that.” windsor pouted, looking up at her with a huge frown. he didn’t like that at all and wasn’t used to getting turned down in terms of cuddles. he was practically a big bear, why the hell was she declining it? “cazzie, baby girl.. hug me.” he whined, extending his arms out as his eyes closed tightly. he was clearly waiting for her to just launch herself on him. “i don’t care.. i just wanna go back to sleep.”

ANA.

              “you don’t think i know that?! you don’t think i hated the fact that i couldn’t reach any of you. i’m a fucking telepath for fuck’s sake, i was supposed to see them coming from miles away and yet i didn’t and now here i am. all this happened because of me!” they did sat she would blame herself, it’s the first thing people do in traumatic situations and this was no different. he felt her blame and she just wanted it to go away. she knew her mother wasn’t the most kind and caring, but she just wanted to run away. “just say you hate me already. just get it over with.” she wanted to make it easier, to make the transition to being her normal self easy again but she knew that was impossible. flashes of what windsor was thinking crowded her mind but she suppressed them because she promised she would never look into his mind and that wouldn’t change, not even in her distressed state.                  her arms didn’t wrap around the man as she choked down a sob, she pressed her head against his figure. she looked at his arms, taking a deep breath to calm herself down before she hurt herself or him. she never wanted to do that. she shook her head, “no one deserves that, not even you. especially not you so stop saying that.”

    “no one could be prepared for what happened to you, so stop blaming yourself.” he didn’t want her to do that, especially because he knew her better and knew that any other time, she would have been blaming someone else. no one could have ever anticipated what was going to happen, telepathic or not. if anything, it showed everyone how strong and resilient she was. something he already knew far too well. “hate you? what? you want me to lie to you? because you taught me far too well that bad things would happen if i did that.” his eyebrows arched then, almost trying to challenge her as he let a small smile cross over his lips. “hatred is the last thing i feel for you, anastasia.” it was only then that he started thinking about her and only her --- thinking of their best memories. and almost as an invitation for her to practically invade his mind, he moved to rest his head against hers, eyes closing.

     he stayed like that for a few long seconds until she spoke again, his hand moving to trail along her back in hopes of calming her down. “and you never deserved that. me over you any day.” and he meant it. at least he had the strength thing on his side but he didn’t want anybody getting into his personal space like they probably did with the girl. glancing back towards his bag and the bottle, windsor looped his arm through one of the straps of his bag, turning his back to the bottle and immediately scooping her up into his arms. “you in the same room, princess?”

The preset tone rang out on her phone only a couple of hours after returning. She rolled over and hit the snooze button, but remembered her responsibilities. Once of which was on the couch. She had told him the last time that this had happened that she was done. “D-O-N-E WIN! DONE”, she had made a point of raising her tone then to prove a point. Cazzie never raised her voice. 

But then the texts began flooding in around three. At first, she told herself that he would get home fine. Win could take care of himself. He was an adult now. But then she was up, in her sweats, waiting for an Uber outside of a 24 hour McDonalds with her half-asleep, very drunk friend. 

And now she was making the both of them turkey bacon. It was Saturday. It was raining outside. Things could wait. Win was important to slow down for. “Alright, Windell-” the purposefully wrong name she had called him as long as she could remember. “Up and attem.”

     it was a usual occurrence for him to wake up on cazzie’s couch after a bad night of drinking. most of the time? he knew he could make it back to his dorm and knew that francis would take care of hhim, or he knew he could brave the walk home to stay with his parents. but clearly his mind thought something different last night when he had contacted cazzie for help. he was pretty damn lucky to have her by his side. even when he was fucking up, there were people looking out for him.

      a loud groan left his lips as he was woken up, one arm moving to cover his eyes whilst the other felt around for his tshirt. “give me another..” win trailed off, yawning. “like ten minutes.” though he paused for a second, his arm moving so he could peek up at her. “cuddle me instead!! c’mon, you know you want to.”

ANA.

               she didn’t figure things would go back to the way they were, that was never her intention. he didn’t deserve to be put under that pain again, not when even she knew it’d take long for her to be okay once again. he didn’t always turn to the healthiest outlets and it seemed like she didn’t help that situation and it broke her heart, she just wanted it all to stop. the institution numbed her entirely, but once she hit the real world it scared her. everything scared her, even her mother softened at the sight of her. she’d never been scared, but now it seemed as if everything did.               her head ducked slightly as she spoke, something she would’ve never done before. “you know even you wouldn’t want to be a ‘hi i’m home’ text. i wanted to run to you when i first got here but—-” she thought back to the first day she got back to the academy, the paranoia about everything and everyone. she let out a shaky breath at the thought, she looked up at him wanting to hug him once again and wipe his tears but that wasn’t her place anymore.               “i was a fucking mess okay! i couldn’t leave my room, i couldn’t leave the corner of my room for fucks sake. you think it’s easy adjusting back to this after being locked up for years, having people tell you that you are the scum of the earth because of your genes? being tased every single time you even spoke back. it’s not! okay! it’s not—” her voice ended in a whisper as she ducked her head once more, the tears escaping a lot more easier as she wiped them away.

  “i practically mourned you, anastasia!! i thought you were dead!! a text would have been more than sufficient when i had been hearing so many different things about you.” it would have been confusing had the rumours about her not been circulating, that was for sure. of course he was just looking at it as an excuse, but at the end of the day? he knew he wasn’t hurting as much as ana was. she had suffered so much more than he had. “fuck ana, i wouldn’t have even cared if we had been broken up for years… i would have still wanted to hear from you.” it did remind him that they didn’t even break up in the first place, but he knew that it wasn’t the time to bring it up. especially because after weeks of her being gone, he had moved from drinking to sleeping around, becoming the old windsor – the one before he had met ana.

    rubbing furiously at his eyes as if he was annoyed for crying, his hand then moved to his arm, subconsciously trailing across the snowflake tattoos. letting out a shaky breath, he shook his head. “no.. n-no, i’m sorry.” win apologised, moving to put the bottle on the ground behind him, discarding his backpack too before opening his arms out for her again for a hug.

           “i’m sorry, princess… no one deserves that and i would take it all away for you if i could.”

KATRI.

Katri was cramming for a science test in the library. Apparently while she was here she was supposed to learn something and this place starting to grow on her, but she would never admit it. “Uggggghhhh, why have chemistry when I can just spell things together?” she asked to the empty library.

     “because you have to learn. just get over it already.” windsor’s eyes rolled as he overheard her words, moving to grab the books he needed for his class. “just because you can do it doesn’t mean everyone else can. i’d just stop complaining if i was you.”

ANA.

               she felt the slight hesitation in his actions, it wasn’t going to be the same and it was her fault. still, she held back the tears that wanted to so desperately escape when she felt his warm embrace. she attempted to ignore the scent of liquor, even if it overpowered him. she knew exactly what he was thinking and she didn’t even have to be a telepath to know. thoughts of doubt and worry clouded her mind, eyes closed once more to control the pain using it as a make shift remedy. she wanted to take away the bottle in his hand but that wasn’t her place anymore, she was just a memory— she messed up and even if she wanted to ignore it, she couldn’t, not with him around.                big eyes looked up at him, glassiness overpowering them but she had enough will power to not break down in front of him. he didn’t need that in his life. she could also see it on his face— he didn’t care anymore. too drunk to care, it was almost laughable. she separated from him, fingers going to fix her bangs, a nervous habit she had picked up. she would apologize for her actions, but that would mean she was sorry for doing it and she wasn’t.              she let out a laugh, “you don’t think i wanted to, but look.” she pointed towards the bottle. “i wanted to windsor, but—-” she looked down. too many thoughts crowded her head as she began to feel lightheaded. “i don’t know why i didn’t.”

   he loved her -- he still loves her but considering it took so long for him to warm up to her, he knew it was going to take even longer this time. she had been the decline for him in terms of drinking, not that he wanted to blame that on her at all --- but when she had gone missing the only thing windsor felt he could turn to was more alcohol. it was the thing that numbed him, and it was the thing that made him forget. it made him forget her, the memories, the pain... and ever since, it had been his go to. that wasn’t going to change anytime soon. with her returning, he knew the night was going to be filled with him just sitting at a bar, and then probably going to his mom to cry.. as usual.

     ultimately, he was just so glad to see her, even if he seemed incredibly distant. he was just pissed that he hadn’t been contacted. “so.. i didn’t mean enough to you to even get a text saying ‘hi, i’m home’. shit i wouldn’t have even came to you if you didn’t want to see me, but hearing people talk about you around here? i didn’t know if it was true or not.” windsor rambled quickly, the anger practically bubbling up inside him. he was sure he would have been red in the face already if it wasn’t for the tears welling up in his eyes. she may have been strong enough to not break.. but he was a huge crier. 

       “i tried looking for you... for so long.” he mumbled, taking a quick step back as his hands moved to rub his eyes to wipe away the tears that had just fell. “i spent so many hours looking and to not even get a text saying you were back? that---that fucking sucked...”

ANA.

              she was happy he was continuing his studies, she knew how much of a struggle it was for him especially given the fact he didn’t want to follow his parent’s footsteps. she never judged him for that, despite her lineage that was her issue and never his. she didn’t know how his life was after she was gone, she hoped he moved on and found someone who made him happy. she hopes he is happy but given the bottle in his hand she thinks otherwise. his coping mechanisms were never healthy, but her mother coped the same way. she wished things hadn’t ended the way they did. still she didn’t contact him, no matter how much she wanted to.               she watched him, eyes closing slightly as the pain continued. she tried to not creep into his mind but what came easily was suddenly difficult. he looked good, sad, but she didn’t want that to be the case. god, when did she get this way? there were only two people who made her feel this way and she never thought would be one of them. there was slight hesitation in her step, never before with the man. even when they argued she always stood her ground, especially when it came to his drinking but now it was different. she let a sigh escape her lips as she somewhat ran into his waist, immediately wrapping her arms around him.

   the hug caught him off guard, so much so that he couldn’t help but stumble back slightly. nevertheless, his arms slowly made their way around the smaller girl, hugging her close. the frown never left his face because even though he was glad to see her and beyond happy that she had hugged him, it was still in the back of his head that she didn’t even bother to contact him. he thought they had something good, something great even and he thought he meant something to her. to him? that just said that what the had meant nothing. his grip on her might have been tight, but the grip on the bottle was even tighter out of fear that she’d try and take it away from him.

     after a few long seconds, he pulled away, eyes scanning her face. he wanted to know how she was, where she was, what happened -- but he couldn’t bring himself to do it. part of him didn’t want to put her through that experience again, the other part didn’t care. or at least, he thought he didn’t care. but that all went out the window when he heard her speak and say his name. licking his lips, his free hand moved to the strap of his backpack to keep him occupied. 

          “--why didn’t you call me?”

ANA.

               it wasn’t as if ana had chosen what happened to her, she should have sensed it, she should have stopped it but she failed herself. she failed everyone— her mother but especially him. she liked to think he cared but then again she wasn’t found until recently, she couldn’t leave or reach out until recently. she wondered how much he had changed, if her disappearance had affected had affected him in any way.                 she had numbed herself in the institution, she wanted to reach out to the other but she couldn’t. she was weak, they weakened her and it felt like all the progress her mother had done was all for waste. it was a process to get back into the swing of things but there was still a stinging in the back of her head when it came to him. she didn’t think she would see him and yet—–                she stopped in her tracks as she saw him. breathless, like always. she wanted to reach out, but she remembered how long it took for the two to grow close. knowing him, he probably hated her for not reaching out. a part of her hated it too. she didn’t know what to do, what to say. anastasia frost was never one to keep her mouth shut, she never stayed quiet but now she found it hard to speak. the voices getting louder, migraine ensuing in her head.                          “windsor.”

   the last thing he wanted to hear was the gossip that ana frost was back. hell, he was happy for her and happy that she had been found, but he didn’t necessarily think that him seeing her would help anything. he tried.. he tried so much to find her.. and it ultimately began the decline of windsor cage and the beginning of his heavy, heavy drinking. he had lost his girlfriend.. of course the only thing for him to feel normal again was to numb the pain and pretend nothing happened. it almost seemed like a lost cause.. until she was found again. that had been one of the happiest moments of his life --- even if he wasn’t around her. she was back, back with her family... he just couldn’t bring himself to contact her.

    he was walking down the corridor with a bottle of whiskey hidden in a paper bag when he froze on the spot, eyes scattering anywhere but behind himself. he knew that voice all too well. but he couldn’t exactly keep walking.. he didn’t want to keep walking. taking a quick sip of his drink, he turned towards her, already frowning. “ana.” windsor mumbled, not being able to help himself as he took a few tiny steps towards her. he wanted to keep his distance, but he also wanted to show that he was happy to see her. “uh.. hey. it’s good to see you.” he didn’t know what to say or do, rather.

“I don’t get why people are so fixated on looks these days. I just have a class to run and I have no idea what I’m doing.”

    “okay, so here’s a thought.. no one gives a shit about what you look like and genuinely want to learn in class. or are you too big-headed to understand that?”

GALADRIEL.

Galadriel wasn’t too new to the school but she still had her moments where she’d get lost. Looking at her schedule, she sighed softly before she felt her body hit someone else’s. “Oh goodness!” She said, picking her things up. “I am so terribly sorry.”

     to say he was angry from the slight run in was an understatement, his opened water falling to the ground and spilling everywhere. considering he was just incredibly hungover, all he cared about right now was his headache and the fact his bottle was on the ground. “fuck me..” he muttered in frustration, rolling his eyes. “yeah, whatever, it’s fine. just be careful next time.”
