“Animal tracks?”

Atoli suppoused it wasn’t a bad idea, but she was no animal expert. Should she follow where the tracks go or where they came from? Would the animals… turn away from civilization?

Still the woman in front of her seemed very proud of her conclusion, so Atoli smiled and nodded anyway.

“That’s a wonderful idea! Except.. I’m sorry, I’m not too fond of where animals live and such— wouldn’t they head away from villages?” the cleric asked, almost feeling a bit stupid. She really hated that feeling too. Still, she tilted her head to the side a bit in question, the green tassel on her hat waving with the breeze.

Though, Atoli did remember hearing the sound of hooves on the forest floor as she woke up— perhaps it was reminiscent of a dream she had but couldn’t remember? She didn’t even know what kind of animals dwell in the strange but beautiful forest she stood in.

Mental, she rolled her eyes. Hell if she knew about the animals in this area. The first time she's even seen this terrain was a few minutes early, and helping a lost birdie find her nest was in the original plan. But whatever, she had enough skill to get this chick out of the forest and out of her hands.

Of course, I would have just taken the sky route to the nearest village, but I doubt this girl can fly, or even get away from the forest floor. Great, more inconveniences.

"You've got to pretend you're one with the animal. If you were, for say, a fox, in this forest and your territory had suddenly been invaded by, uh, wolves and now the only area left to settle is the village, which way would you go. You've just got to get in touch with your inner animal senses." As she spoke the last few words, Kagura reminded herself that being a demon allowed your 'animal' side to roam more freely than just an average being. Hopefully, this girl wouldn't have too much trouble...

It was a rather ordinary day in the Village of Strength. Since Ladd had yet to find any work since his return to this place, he didn’t have much to do other than spar with other fighters in the pit. It had become a daily ritual for him. Occasionally he’d get a bit of an audience during his rounds, and they’d place bets on who would come out victorious. When he wasn’t in the pit himself, he’d participate in the gambling to make some quick cash- he had a good eye for picking out the strong from the weak. For him, it was practically written over each combatant’s face whether or not they had the vigor to fight to the death if they needed to, and that determination in their eyes alone usually separated the strong from just the big-talkers.

After he had finished counting his winnings for the day, he went on his way back to his and Lua’s hut. Midway there he stopped in his tracks, a bit uneasy as he felt of a pair of eyes boring into him. He turned his head slightly to meet the stranger’s gaze, and was greeted with the sight of a beautiful woman with striking, ominous crimson eyes. She had a fascinating look of death about her that caused him to meet her stare with a grin, but not much more than that until she spoke up.

He addressed her question with a chuckle. “Dunno what you’re expectin’, but there ain’t much to know ‘bout this place, doll. It’s the Village of Strength, the home to and gathering of soldiers, fighters, and the like. Is there somethin’ you’re lookin’ for?”

Kagura pursed her lips in distaste, not flattered by their first meeting. How dare he address her like that, as if she was just another pretty face. Didn't he have any idea who he was bad-mouthing?? Only one of the most powerful demons in all of Japanese. So powerful her creator hadn't trusted her the day she was brought into the cruel world.

Pretending that his words didn't bother her ego that much, she flipped her beloved fan out, fakely being amused by it's intricate designs. Not meeting the mortal's eyes, she sneered a reply back.

"Obviously, I'm not blind, but maybe my eyes are failing me since I'm asking a being like yourself. But tell me one thing: do you know of any warrior that settled here with a great power?? Legend says he fought in a long forgotten war, but before one side could prevail, they say he found a, well, miracle. Do you have an idea who I'm talking about??"

It was always rumored that a demon had a sharper sensory. What a mortal could smell a few paces away, a demon could track the aroma for miles. It was even said a demon lurking on the outskirts of a decent sized village can hear ever word muttered from every mouth. Kagura always pondered on the of having less the spectacular demonic senses. A slight dulling would not be a regrettable decision. She would no longer be forced to endure the revolting stench of countless, unwashed mortals. Of a whiff of the lingering miasma from demons past. These gut-thrusting sensations were compelling enough to for her to strut right out of the village.

But she had a strong will.

And I've come too far to turn back. I'll scout out that miracle worker.Kagura reminded herself, recalling the reason she even set a single foot in the dirt of the village.

This village isn't to impressive if you ask me...She silently assessed what the new-found village had to offer, visually. Not very amusing. It didn't have the exotic architecture and bizzare customs like she's expected, but lack thereof. The vilage was, well, just a village. Farmers farmed. Warriors trained. The oddbals hung back, out of civilization.  Few townsfolk even batted an eye at her demonic appearance. A uproars was normally caused whenever she materialized into a village. Every man's, woman's, and child's eye on her milky, pale skin and brilliant eyes, scarlet like the colour of fresh blood. 

No such thing happened in this village.

Perhaps demons were a regular guest here.But she couldn't be sure without a test.

Taking note of a solitary figure in her peripheral vision, Kagura whipped her high head around, trying to alert the being. Whoever they were, without a single noise, they had sensed Kagura's gazed and returned it right back. A fearless gaze, one that almost nobody could hold when looking into the eyes of a demon...

Oh, so this being has a brave soul??? Certain she'd caught their attention, Kagura spoke. "Hey! You happened to have some information on this village. You'd be of great use if you did!"

The cleric nearly gasped in surprise when the woman drifted down from the branches with ease. Not falling, but floating— it was quite amazing. Did the woman know magic like Atoli? With each step closer the woman, named Kagura, spoke.

“Don’t bother asking where I came from. So, what’s your story???”

‘Dont inquire about her, yet give her my story?’ Atoli thought to herself, finding that a very hypocritical thing to say. Still, she wouldn’t be rude— just a bit more sparse with her story.

“Well, I come from a place called ‘The World’, and I fell asleep and then… well I woke up here.”

The really was the gist of it. She didn’t do anything out of the ordinary that day with Haseo and the others either. No signs of AIDA, no Twilight Brigade shenanigans or otherwise. Then, suddenly… This strange yet beautiful forest. It was all very dizzying.

“If you don’t mind me asking, where is the nearest village or… town?”

Kagura cocked her head to the side, a bit amused. "My, falling asleep?? I wouldn't make that a habit now. You might miss some of what this world has to offer for you."

She was quite pleased already, concluding that the being in this area were immensely more fun to interact with. The village-folk at the previous village she inhabited were quite boring. And lack of amusement meant she had to make her own fun. But she couldn't stay here all day and play with this little birdie. A seriousness had entered the young woman's voice.

The she-demon pursed her lips in thought, taking in all the details of the forest. It was such a gem. The trees rose with great height, never disturbed in their pattern. The growth looked luscious and juicy. She sensed not even a drop of impurity in the air. Whatever beings she sensed before must have been harmless, minor animals.

Animals.... villages...

"Well, I haven't any idea where a village might be specifically... but I'm sure following some animals prints would get you to where you desire." Kagura silently applauded herself. What a brilliant idea.

“Hey! Why do you look so worried?? Are you lost??”

Atoli looked to her left to see a beautiful ruby-eyes woman with concern written on her face. The cleric blinked in surprise at the abruptness of her appearance— how did someone travel so quietly?

“O-oh, well, yes, I am!” She replied to her question, “You see, I just woke up here— I don’t know where I am or how I seem to have gotten here.” Atoli explained. The woman’s kind disposition put her at ease a bit, but she was still frightened. Though she no longer needed help, Atoli preferred at least knowing somebody else was there.

"Well, I would gather your wits and start traveling towards the nearest village," Kagura mused in a warning tone. "You never know what kind of revolting creatures lurk in these forest. " Yeah, I don't even have the slightest clue whats kind of creatures occupy this forest. But she kept those thoughts in her head. Even so, it would take a bigger force than a bunch of minor demons to make her nervous with fear.

Kagura regained the poise she had early and gracefully began her descent out of the leaves and branches of the forest floor towards the cave. With each step, she spoke the lone woman. "By the way, the name's Kagura. Don't bother asking where I came from. " She was about to include the little detail about her being a demon, but the blonde's face showed that some of the tension faded away. Didn't want to bring that back.

"So, what's your story???"

First Steps Into Arcadios {Open RP!}

With her eyes closed, Atoli could only rely on her other senses to know what was going on around her. She could faintly hear the sound of birds chirping, as well as feel the cool gross beneath her. It smelled earthy, like flowers and clean air and… purity. There was no other word the young girl could think of, for she knew it wasn’t a smell, but it had just clicked in her mind…

Atoli’s arms felt cold, save for some spots where she concluded her wing-like cape fell on them, trapping her own body heat. Her body took some while to wake up, but perhaps it was also the relaxing atmosphere that made waking up that much harder. 

Slowly opening her eyes, she was greeted with blades of grass, slightly damp from dew, in her direct vision. Small floating pink lights were still blurred, but coming into focus. Blinking a few times, the blonde made out trees, moss, just nature as far as the eye could see. It was amazing.

Regaining some strength in her limbs, the cleric moved her fingers, grasping the grass in her gloved hands before pushing herself, albeit slowly, off the ground and to a sitting position. Rubbing her eyes, she had sworn she heard the thumping a hooves, and gasping she turned quickly, however saw nothing.

Letting out a small sigh, the blonde picked up her hat brushing some blades of grass off the white fabric. Standing up, she stumbled a step back, but quickly regained her balance before sweeping more grass off her slightly damp dress (which must have had absorbed some of the dew).

‘Oh, my staff!’ She thought, and looked around the premesis before finding it laying on the ground behind her. Retrieving that, Atoli put on her hat and tried to remember how it is she had gotten there in the first place. Walking around and finally finding a dirt path, the teen stopped and put a hand up to her face, worried.

“How did I get here…? Where… am I?” she muttered to herself. Last she remembered she was playing The World and… then?

Kagura's nose had picked up the sickly sweet scent of the girl before her vision had seen her. All being, demons, humans, living dead, gave off a distinguishing scent. A beings scent was unique to that being only. Nothing else in this world could replicate the scent they gave off.

Unless you're me...

But she hadn't been expecting it. Her mind and body had been completely focused on channeling the wind through her. Absorbing the pure nature around her. Kagura loved the peculiar smell of the pine needles. In sharp contrast to the gut-thrusting miasma she was usually exposed to, the needles had a cleansing aroma. She'd even heard of villages that burn pine to chase out lingerings of evil from its inhabitants.

But this girl's seem was quite... confusing. She did not give off the usual smells of a regular human body and soul. She could pick out strands of other scents wrapped around her body's main aura. This being seemed to be a lone soul.

Normally, helping out a human would be completely against the profile she that had formed about her. But here, she was free of all past ties. Nobody would identify her as the Wind Witch. The sorceress that could kill off an entire army of men, and then raise them from their resting place. Plus, being a lone soul in a world so big, so new, was not pleasant. As she knew from experience. 

"Hey! Why do you look so worried?? Are you lost??"
