✂ – there wasn’t any work after word got out that she had spent some time in a high security prison. that was all behind her, but it had been hard to adjust. she couldn’t hold up a job, having to resort to other ways to get money. mousy tried not to be violent, but when the time called for it, when rent was due to pay for that stingy hotel room she had been staying in for the past year, she did what she could. taking what she wanted and needed. it didn’t matter who got hurt. nights were when she liked to walk, it kept violent urges down, and if they did pop up, no one would be around to get hurt. no one by her hands anyway. the road that lay in between the buildings of her current living space was dark, give or take a few street lamps. there seemed to be someone following her. for a while now, and once she had them right where she wanted them, she couldn’t blame herself if they got hurt… it was self defense. mousy didn’t take a second thought to practically slam the strangers body against the side of the brick wall– getting a better look at the person though, it turned out they weren’t a stranger at all.
Ladd was making his way back to the cozy little place he called home after a long, uneventful day. A woman happened to be walking in the same direction, a few paces in front of him, for a while. He didn’t really pay it much mind, until she glanced over her shoulder at him once, and he realized that she looked vaguely familiar. He quickened his stride to catch up with her, so he could figure out her identity and where he knew her from.
"’Scuse me, miss-- Agh!” He was greeted with a swift and sudden shove against a nearby wall. He couldn’t really fault her or even get mad- a woman walking alone at night with a strange man at her heels? That called for some kind of self-defense. He could respect that, even though he now seemed to be in a vulnerable position.
When he came face to face with her, the first thing he noticed was an unmistakable pair of mismatched irises.
“Ohhhhh, it’s you! Mousy!! I knew you looked familiar!” He confirmed with a chuckle. “How’re you keepin’? You seem sharp as ever- you almost knocked me on my ass, there! Haha!” He found his balance again and swiped at the wrinkles on his suit with his hands.

He was correct on most accounts. That she was not a normal woman; but what was normal really? To her it was synonymous with ‘boring,’ for 'normality’ was anything that did not stray from a standard path. It was those straying tendrils that were the most beautiful; that Erika collected like polished coins.
Erika would have loved to leave the fight, she never went seeking trouble – especially when she was alone – but he was also right in that they already knew who she was, and they also outnumbered her by quite a few. She was fast on her feet but projectile weapons were always a possibility. Erika had been hoping on a clean, fast fight… even if she might end up getting a little bruised in the end.
“If they get to see another day? That’s so dark! Kids will be kids, especially stupid ones.” Stupid like herself, for she wasn’t much older than they were and a few years ago she had been even more stupid than they. But from where she was now, looking back at them she could see their mistakes.
“–Oops!” Erika ducked down, away from the spiraling crowbar as it sailed over her head and in Ladd’s direction. She never even saw where it landed, whether or not it hit him or what had become of the tool. In a whooping flash the remaining boys followed suit and rushed at both 'opponents,’ one black-clad female and the older, crazed-looking male.
“You don’t hit girls!” Erika accused, catching some guy’s jaw with a pointed elbow, “You guys’re all gonna get yourselves killed!” They could not say she didn’t warn them.
“And...?” Ladd asked, somewhat irked. “What, these kids have some kinda ‘potential’ for a ‘bright future’ ahead’a them, so I should just go easy on ‘em??” He continued flippantly. Well, maybe she was right. Maybe all these brats needed was a little scare. Only the next few moments would tell. Once Ladd Russo’s desire to kill was provoked, there was no going back.
There was little time to react as the pipe came hurtling towards him. But, without moving a single step, he effortlessly caught the weapon in just one hand- his real hand. He watched the chaos unfold with a ravenous grin. The woman was holding her own quite well so far, but he had no time to really observe- he was being rushed, himself.
He still didn’t move, and, instead gripped the weapon tighter, tighter, tighter- until the metal made a hideous screeching, groaning sound as it was crushed and deformed under his deadly grasp. That happened all in a matter of seconds. The thugs that were coming at him stopped in their tracks. All the color drained from the lanky one’s face as he dropped his weapon and threw his arms up in immediate surrender. His eyes flitted towards his comrades for a moment, expecting them to do the same. He then decided he didn’t want to stick around any longer, and ran as fast as his long legs could take him.
“Your friend there’s got the right idea, dontch’a think?” Ladd taunted.
“I said-- Shut the hell up, old man!!” The squat leader shouted defiantly, in a last ditch effort at bravado. His group’s morale had clearly diminished just moments into the brawl, but he was on an adrenaline high and foolishly didn’t want to surrender. “You’re still outnumbered!!”
And now was acknowledged the presence of the Red Death. He had come like a thief in the night. And one by one dropped the revelers in the blood-bedewed halls of their revel, and died each in the despairing posture of his fall.
Edgar Allan Poe, The Masque of the Red Death
At Coraggioso (theyoungestgandorbrother)
The loud tapping of metal against wood was the first thing that alerted Luck Gandor to his guest’s presence, and he gave a little inward groan. Ah yes, that was right; he’d planned on meeting with Russo today, hadn’t he? Still, he wasn’t who he’d been hoping to walk through the door…but he’d deal with it.
Rising out of his seat, Luck ventured out of his office and into the main room of the Coraggioso. He found Ladd where he’d predicted, sitting in front of the main desk, waiting for him. A slight shiver went down his spine as he extended his hand to meet Ladd’s greeting, shaking firmly.
Few people truly intimidated him nowadays, but there was something about Ladd that he couldn’t pinpoint, something different in his aura that made him nervous. There was also the fact that he’d seen him fight his brother head-on, which was enough to make any normal man a bit flighty.
“No need to call me boss,” Luck said cooly. “Mister Luck, or Mister Gandor will do well.” He was too used to people calling his father “boss”, or using it to refer to Keith, to feel comfortable with the title. “Would you like to come back to my office?”
“Sounds good to me, Mr. Luck,” Ladd agreed as he followed along. Having this little chat in private was the best-case scenario for him; though Keith was silent throughout all their previous meetings, he always had a distrustful glare in his eyes that intimidated even Ladd. Berga hadn’t particularly taken a shine to him, either (and for good reason). Of the three brothers, Luck appeared to be the most cool-headed and might not try to kill him before this meeting was over.
As the door shut behind them, Ladd took in the sight of the office. It was classy, but simple. Behind Luck’s desk stood a polished hutch that housed a few bottles of dark liquor and glasses to drink from. Next to that was a well-stocked bookshelf. Ladd’s gaze lingered there for a moment, quickly scanning over titles on some of the spines. A few Edgar Allan Poe books stood out to him in particular. He pointed them out as he took a seat across from Luck, deciding to schmooze a little before talking straight business.
“Fond of Poe, huh? Me too! The Masque of the Red Death is a personal favorite of mine.”

“Well…” Erika raised a finger, turning back to glance at the over-excited man, “I disagree. I think they’re just about as dumb as they look.” Which was, relatively speaking, dumber than beans.
“So dumb, in fact, that they’re probably gonna get super beat up and they don’t even know it. That’s how it always happens. And even though I’m saying all of this–” blatantly warning the high-school-aged children behind her of terrible things to come, “–they’ll probably ignore it and go after you anyways. I’m not going to stop them because it’s not really my business, but then I might have to deal with you myself because the fight isn’t going to last that long.
“What would you do in my situation?”
“Hah! And here I thought you were in trouble when I first stumbled upon this little scene! You’re clearly no regular woman, now are you? Hahaha!! Really, who’d ask somethin’ like that?!” His focus shifted momentarily to the woman clad in black as he questioned her sanity. His blood was still hot, and words spilled from his mouth as quickly as his racing mind thought them.
The high schoolers looked on at the dialogue in utter confusion. One lanky boy looked to the others for some kind of signal to either fight or retreat, but none came. A cold, nervous sweat began to bead on his forehead. The supposed “leader” of the squad, the boy with the bat, merely stood with his mouth agape as the conversation went on.
“I guess I’d tell any sane person to leave now,” he entertained her question. “You say this is none ‘a your business, but these punks got an ax to grind with ya for whatever reason,” he waved in their general direction, not even bothering to glance at them again just yet, as he addressed their apparent insignificance.
“Me, though? To be honest with ya, I don’t quite know what to make of ya just yet!! This really is interesting!”
“Buu~uut on the other hand... they know your face, and anythin’ that happens from here on out may come back to bite ya! But they may never see me again... That is, if they live to see another day.”
“Are you fuckin’ serious?!” One of the boys exclaimed. The lanky one’s eyes darted around fearfully.
“Shut your goddamn MOUTHS!!” Another yelled as he hurled his weapon with all his might in their direction, fulfilling exactly what Erika predicted and what Ladd had hoped for.
I’m a killer, cold and wrathful Silent sleeper, I’ve been inside your bedroom I’ve murdered half the town left you love notes on their headstones I’ll fill the graveyards until I have you.
Quite unexpectedly found some old works of mine (this one was made year ago), that I’ve never uploaded anywhere. Obviously here - because of NC-21 rating X,D

Was drawn specialy for contest on NC-21 rating level.

As I sweat and crush you
And I hold your beating chambers until they beat no more,
You die like angels sing

ooc: I haven’t been feeling well the past couple days, so i’m sorry for being so quiet!
I’m hoping to get my drafts cleared out later tonight, but if I’m still not up to it, I’ll definitely have some time over the long weekend to do so.
