@windywildwonders
I've been there for you.
How to get rid of a broken heart.
Microblogs?
So... a series of microblogs of what has happened lately... (will expand some microblog entries into full blog entries later, maybe)
Buying glasses online, pupillary distance, lens thickness vs. index, frame types
Cute little brick houses near Waterloo Station
Landlord's violations of tenancy rights, various free legal advices, nature of different advisors
Making the best of what has happened (from shithead landlord placing a coin-operated electricity meter in my room), generating electricity with water
Thinking of buying a wall-mounted, “internally- wired(?)” (as in wired to the circuit of the house, don’t know what it’s called…) electrical heater and making it free-standing and wired to a plug. The appliance is a French one, therefore it’s consists of European wiring, with blue, brown and black wires. It’s a slight challenge for a beginner like me to figure out how to wire it to a UK plug, as a European plug is 2-point and UK is 3-point. After researching and coming across to BBC’s explanation on wiring a UK plug (http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesize/science/add_aqa_pre_2011/electricity/mainselectrev1.shtml) and Google-translating the French manual (http://www.applimo.fr/mediatheque/notices/EuroPlus.pdf) to English, it appears that the brown wire should be connected to L (live), blue to N (neutral), while nothing to E (earth) and the black wire should be left inside its insulated cover as its primary function is to be connected to the household circuit to the main thermostat control. Anyway I haven’t purchased the heater yet - will report on my wiring success and failures when I do.
Unfortunately I was outbid, so... project abort! (Abort when it hasn't really started? Huh?)

Easy steps to unclog your foam pump bottles and it is as good as new again.
This site came handy when my foam pump bottle got clogged today.
Stumbled across "pupillary distance" as I was looking into buying a pair of glasses online.

My third attempt at formulating a simple yet effective, natural and preservative-free toothpaste. It is preservative-free as there is no water content. The clays are used to absorb impurities from the teeth and gum, while the coconut oil is anti-bacterial (used in Ayurvedic oil-pulling). The clay also draws the positively charged ions from the surface of metals, therefore a non-metal utensil must be used when contacting with clays. Xylitol and peppermint oil aids to the taste and adds freshness, also Xylitol helps repair enamel damage. This 70g natural toothpaste only costs around £1.50 to make (I forgot to note down the cost for a packet of Xylitol hence it's price is not included in the final cost calculation). The toothpaste works wonders, leaving my teeth polished and squeaky clean. The only downside is that since it contains coconut oil, it can leave the skin surrounding the mouth a little oily, however the oiliness can be easily removed with any gentle cleanser. My calculations are shown on the table.

Fees for Cross Border Personal Payments
Should have known about this when I purchased a Slow Juicer from Germany... The fee for payment via credit/debit card is a lot more compared to the fee for Paypal balance/bank account!

These Single-flared Hexagonal Tunnels are light-weight, and looks nice and simple in comparison with the chunky, heavy, double-flared ones. Does anyone knows of any other places to find these awesome bolt tunnels? So far I have found them from the following:

The Mystery of Donating to Wikipedia
After donating £2 to Wikipedia, I received the following email:
Dear Windy,
Thank you for your invaluable gift of bringing knowledge to every human around the world.
My name is Lila Tretikov, and I’m the Executive Director of the Wikimedia Foundation. Over the past year, gifts like yours powered our efforts to expand the encyclopedia in 287 languages and to make it more accessible all over the world. We strive most to impact those who would not have access to education otherwise. We bring knowledge to people like Akshaya Iyengar from Solapur, India. Growing up in this small textile manufacturing town, she used Wikipedia as her primary learning source. For students in these areas, where books are scarce but mobile Internet access exists, Wikipedia is instrumental. Akshaya went on to graduate from college in India and now works as a software engineer in the United States. She credits Wikipedia with powering half of her knowledge.
This story is not unique. Our mission is lofty and presents great challenges. Most people who use Wikipedia are surprised to hear it is run by a non-profit organization and funded by your donations. Each year, just enough people donate to keep the sum of all human knowledge available for everyone. Thank you for making this mission possible.
On behalf of half a billion people who read Wikipedia, thousands of volunteer editors, and staff at the Foundation, I thank you for keeping Wikipedia online and ad-free this year.
Thank you, Lila

Before I could get my Job-Seeker's Allowance, I have to meet the obligations of job-hunting for at leaf two hours a day. After two days of a total of 4 hours of job-searching, I have pretty much applied for all the jobs within my skills and areas of expertise... There isn't that many job vacancies in one locale. #jobhunting #unemployment #nojobsaround #notenoughjobs

I'm so proud of my former flatmate in the United States for breaking out of her 9-5 lifestyle and starting her own business (http://chicflowersonline.com/)! You have always been such a wonderful friend to me and I am truly grateful for our time spent together - especially cooking dinner together almost every night and hosting lovely dinner parties! You are a very talented florist and a kindred spirit and I believe that you have bright future ahead of you and that your business will flourish!
