✨🥚 Egg Cleansing 🥚✨

🥚1 Egg (preferably organic)

🥚1 White candle ( I like to use a spellcandle but used a tea light today)

🥚1 Clear glass of water (glass, not plastic)

🥚Salt (I used Dead Sea Salt)

🥚Something to (spiritually) cleanse the area (i.e sage, palo santo, frankincense etc)

🥚Optional; crystals and/or oil or bodylotion

Before I do the egg cleanse I like to cleanse my room (cause that’s where I’ll do the egg cleansing). Some like to (spiritually) clean the whole house, some say you have to cleanse it a day before, but I guess that’s up to you. Do whatever makes you feel comfortable. I like to do it right before instead of a day before, cause a lot can happen in a day 😉

Basically you’re going to light some sage, palo santo, frankincense, and go through the area. If you normally use something else to (spiritually) cleanse an area then that’s fine too. It’s meant to release any negative energy and ask that only positive energy will remain (don’t forget to open a window or door so the negative energy can leave).

Make sure the egg is room temperature and wash it with water.

Light the white candle, hold the egg between your hands and connect with your spirit guides or ancestors, maybe say a little prayer or when that’s not your cup of tea, you can just state your intentions or speak something from the heart. As you do the cleanse you leave the candle burning and let it extinguish itself.

Hold the egg in your dominant hand and move it over your body. Start at the top of your head and pass it over every part of your body to the soles of your feet and back up while you switch hands.

Listen to your body and notice the things you feel. If you feel tension somewhere make sure to stay there a little longer.

As you are doing this you can visualise all negative energy being absorbed by the egg and maybe say a few things to whoever or whatever you want to address to for help. I always like to speak to the universe or my guides as I ask to please help me cleanse me from all forms of negativity.. Cleanse me of the negative energies that are created by me or that are sent to me.. Cleanse my aura, my body, my mind and my soul.. Take my negative thoughts and attachments, spells or illnesses.. Everything that doesn’t serve me well.. Take them all and Transform them into light.

Break the egg into the clear glass of water and dust yourself off with your hands (some like to use a crystal for this), and finish with “sealing” your body with a bodylotion or oil and give thanks. Now you’re ready to read the egg.

Please don’t throw away the eggshells! You can save them and use them for protection.

Reading the Egg:

🥚If the yolk stays whole and sinks to the bottom it is a good sign.

🥚If the yolk is whole and stays in the middle or rises to the top something is not okay and someone is trying to harm you.

🥚Bubbles are a sign of Negative Energy pointed to you.

🥚Balloons are a sign of a cage. Could be that someone has you trapped in a situation or you’re keeping yourself caged.

🥚If there is a shape in the yolk then try to determine the shape cause that’ll be the problem.

🥚Pointy shapes or spikes going up are negative energy that people have put on you from envy or jealousy. Can you clearly see the forms of needles or nails, then it’s believed that there are people who have casted spells on you and want you to feel bad.

🥚Downwards pointing sharpies are a sign of resentment that you have for someone or over a situation and still have to deal with.

🥚If the yolk is coated someone is bothering you or provoking you.

🥚If the yolk has red or black spots on it that means diseases or illnesses (doesn’t necessarily mean physical).

🥚Cobwebs mean someone is jealous and wants you to fail or something is entangling you which is stopping you from moving forward.

🥚If it is cloudy with grey or black above the yolk with bubbles and spikes then that is said to be the evil eye.

When you’re done you sprinkle some salt in the glass and flush it in the bathroom or bury it.

Baneful magic ingredients and their correspondences

I got a LOT of these from @afledglings-guideto-witchcraft when they answered an ask I sent in, that blog is a fantastic place for information whether you've been practicing a few days or a few years imo.

I've been posting a lot about trying to find information on this subject and now I've gotten a good list compiled in a google doc and figured I'd share it with y'all, feel free to add on your own notes or just any commentary you have or experiences you've had using certain ingredients. I'm using some of these to make a hex jar to try and help a friend out with a shitty abusive household, which I might post more about if y'all would be interested in it, or if I just feel up to it.

Black pepper: bad luck, punishing negative energies

Pickle juice: to bring sourness

Broken glass: cutting ties, warding off negative energies, pain

Black salt: banishment

Thumb tacks: pain and suffering

Rotten tea/anything moldy: for detriment on their life

Hot peppers: pain, irritation, burning, anger

Garlic: disgust and repulsion

Dead matches: to drain energy

Salt: to intensify wounds, to sting, to keep someone away

Mustard seed: strife and discord

Onion: breaking relationships/habits/etc, strife

Lemons: causing pain (think lemon juice on a cut), souring a relationship, or any good luck the target has been receiving lately.

Rusty Nails: can be stabbed into lemons, or added to sour jars/hex jars. Pins the hex/curse to the target.

Vinegar: souring, dissolves relationships

Poppyseed: intoxication and confusion

Alum: stops communication/speech.

Small pickles: male impotency

Beet pickles: female hormonal problems

Thick mud: darkness, suffocation, feeling trapped

Feces/urine: to make their life nasty

Black candle wax or strings: binds the curse to the target

Coffee: insomnia

Tea: lethargy/oversleeping

Gravel: Being crushed and stepped on by life and the people around you

Don't ever let anyone tell you you are a bad person or you're going to get hurt if you practice baneful magic at all no matter what. The threefold law is a rule that Wiccans follow, no one else is obligated to believe in it, I respect people who believe in it and they should respect people who don't. Always make sure to judge a situation very carefully and use this magic appropriately.

And, very very important, research on how to protect yourself from a spell backfiring (because you can get hurt), make sure that your intention is very focused on your specific target(s), and, if you're doing something similar to what I'm doing, do something (protection jars, spells, etc) to protect other people around this person or people from the effects of the jinx, hex, or curse. Oh and if you're casting a spell on someone else who practices witchcraft, make sure you know the signs if they deflect the spell back onto you and try and do what you can to prevent that from happening.

Let’s talk hexing

Hexing is different than curses and Jinx’s.

Jinx:

A jinx may cause an unfortunate event or a series of bad luck (temporary) are meant to cause discomfort or to inconvenience the target.

Hexes:

A hex may intend to effect well-being, love life or health (longer lasting than jinx’s) are meant to cause bad luck to the target.

Curses:

A curse is a strong hex intending to cause specific troubles (can be short term but usually long lasting) are meant to cause direct harm to the target.

Ingredients:

Black pepper: bad luck, punishing negative energies

Pickle juice: to bring sourness

Black salt: banishment

These are some things you can use I encourage you to do your own research and make sure you are protected.

Now baby witches i don’t really encourage you guys to hex or do anything baneful until you are very sure you know what your doing, your protected, you’ve done your own research, and you’ve been practicing for more than 2 months! You shouldn’t go into witchcraft thinking it’s all love and peace because it dose have that aspect to it but there is baneful magic.

Baneful magic doesn’t make you a shitty person. There are lots of reasons why people hex. You aren’t a bad person for doing it. Also not everyone believes in the 3 fold law. The 3 fold law is primarily practiced by modern wiccans and not everyone believes in it.

Easy Cleansing Methods

Salt - thrown over shoulder, footsteps, etc.

Spiritual waters/cologne

Spiritual washes - can be taken in bath soak or shower scrub forms among others

Prepared talismans/charms - worn always or as necessary

Household charms - placements particularly of note are thresholds and windows

Uncrossing rituals - can be more involved depending on system used

Note: This is a small list on purpose. At times people tend to over-do it on the minor/thoughtless hex to cleanse ratio, and so these increase in complexity as you go down the list. Greater issue, greater solutions and all that.

SIGNS YOU MAY HAVE BEEN CURSED/HEXED

I am going to put mild, moderate, and severe so that you know the level of evil you are dealing with. Mild can also be karmic, but severe is most likely black magick

A lot of these symptoms can be due to physical illness, mental distress, preferences, or mental illness. Only count the ones that are new to you and unexplained by any events that could have triggered these feelings. 

Mild Symptoms:  -Frequent headaches  -Anxiety worse than usual -Nightmares  -Intrusive thoughts  -Constant yawning -Uneasy feeling when you are alone -Relationship problems (including family, friends, acquaintances)  -Pets are acting strange -Plants start to die or get diseases -Crystals or other spiritual items disappear  -Aches and pains -Feeling drained and unmotivated -Not wanting to clean your environment or cleanse it  -Feeling distanced from spirituality  -Low or no sex drive Moderate Symptoms:  -A string of bad luck  -Minor inconveniences such as losing something important at a critical time -Seeing shadows out of the corner of your eye -Candles burn unevenly or blow out, or blow up -Your electronics start malfunctioning -Minor injuries to you or your loved ones -Pets get sick -Sudden unexplained illness or infection  -Finding water in strange spots in the home -Someone killing you or cursing you in your dreams -Photos have gone missing  -Sudden financial losses -Hearing odd sounds -Minor accidents -Missing underwear -Unusual breakouts (not caused by hormones)  -Job loss -Sudden breakups -Strong aversion to healing meditation music or chakra healing music 

Severe symptoms: -Things catch on fire (stove, oven, house, furnace, candle burning other items, etc.) -People around you die of freak accidents -You get into a serious accident or get a serious injury -Pets start dying, run away or disappear  -Spiritual items start breaking (pendulums, crystals, wands, and it wasn’t from stepping on them)  -Demonic possession -Demonic oppression -Seeing the number 666 over and over (and it feels bad to you)  -Seeing 13 birds, specifically magpies  -Talismans in or around your home (dolls, knives, jars full of nails, nails, broken glass, liquid, powder, symbols, grass missing) -Trees around your property start dying -An orb following you around (negative feeling)  -Crosses, protection talismans, spiritual items fall off the wall, are inverted, destroyed, or damaged  -Finding drops of blood around your house or on you -Hearing screaming outside your house at a significant time (midnight, 3AM)  -Sleep paralysis  -New thoughts of suicide (go to doctor just in case)  -Knives being thrown off of counter (for no reason) -Obsession over people or items -Everything seems to be going in a downward spiral  -Scratches appear on you out of nowhere (particularly 3) -People try to harm you physically -Your hair starts falling out  -You start behaving in a strange and erratic way (also go to doctor just in case)  How do I know I am cursed?

Mild curse: If you experience 5 symptoms of the mild symptoms, cleanse your home and do some good deeds. Behave in a more positive light and try to give more to combat any bad karma or negative energy.  Moderate curse: If you experience 10 or more symptoms of any curse above, serious spiritual intervention must occur. You need to purchase cleansing materials and start your banishing rituals immediately. You can find them online. Intuitively pick the ritual that you feel will help.  Severe curse: If you experience 5 or more of the “severe” curses, or more than 10 of moderate to severe symptoms, an exorcism may need to take place. You may also hire a witch or a priest to bless you and your property. Hex removals should also take place. They can be found online.  If you only experience a few of these things, you could be experiencing a dark period in your life that is a part of your life path. Try to stay strong, and if things worsen, simply cleanse yourself and your home, room or apartment.  If you find any odd objects inside or outside of your house, dispose of them immediately. Bless what cannot be physically removed, and cleanse and bury or throw away any physical item far, far away.  Make sure to cleanse your spiritual supplies and deep clean your space.

A small list of items use in hexing

There's a lot of discourse around baneful magic, hexing, chaos magic, jinxing and curses.

It's not that I want to actively encourage those practices, but all witches should know what items are used for in spells, especially if they're using advanced magic. Here's a short list of items I see used in hexes and such (no herbs!)

As always, please do your research on all ingredients in a spell in order to source them ethically.

Poppets ~ This is an item used to signify a person in a spell. You can make them out of just about anything, but I most commonly see people stitching their own dolls or using paper cut in the shape of a person.

Taglocks ~ I feel like people get Taglocks and Poppets confused. Taglocks are actually items, sometimes personal, that create a link to a certain person in a spell. This can be as simple as a photo of them, an item they left behind, or even something from their body, like hair or nails.

Graveyard Dirt ~ This is dirt obtained from, you guessed it, graves and cemeteries. Inserting my own opinion here, it's difficult to obtain Graveyard Dirt from the source ethically. In fact, prancing into a graveyard with a shovel can probably get you in a lot of trouble. Some alternatives here can be taking sticks or rocks from a gravesite (NOT anything on someone's grave) or even taking the soil from beneath a dead plant. Always leave an offering for the spirits.

Iron ~ Typically you won't see straight-up Iron listed as a spell item, but you may see rusty nails and other sharp, rusted items. Iron is used to attract and repel, so it can be used to attract negative energy to someone while repelling it from you.

Broken Glass ~ If you're able to safely collect glass after breaking an object, see if you can save it! Broken glass is great for protection in spells. A good example: if you cast a binding spell on someone, it can help prevent them from retaliating.

By no means is this the only use for these objects. In fact, many items used in baneful magic have uses in protection spells as well. Always do your research, especially to ensure you are not impeding on a closed practice of another culture, before attempting to cast ANY spells.

The Lemon Hex

For when someone has REALLY done you dirty and you just need a quick and powerful burst of baneful energy. This one is powerful, fast-acting, and short-lived, by nature it can really f a person up and can't be undone/reversed once you've cast it. As always, practice responsibly and be safe!

What You Need

A lemon (naturally.)

A knife to help handle said lemon

A leaf or piece of paper with your target's name/identifying info on it (taglock)

Ginger/Cayenne Pepper to help empower/speed up the spell. Both preferred, but just one can do.

Salt/Black Pepper, good baseline ingredients for most hexes

Anything nasty or spicy you can think of. Hot sauces/peppers, old vegetable juices, lint/dust, dish scum, you name it.

Important note: This is not a spell you want to use needles, nails, or other hard things in. Keep it soft and organic if you can. You'll see why.

Steps

Throughout all of this, I find hexes to be a good opportunity to speak your mind, let the target know exactly how they fucked up and how this is the consequence of their actions.

Prepare your taglock and cut an opening in your lemon. Give it some room in the middle.

Roll up or stuff the taglock inside the lemon alongside all of the other ingredients. Be sure to add the ginger and cayenne for best results.

Once it's all in there, give it a little roll/squeeze to make sure those lemon juices permeate all the nasty insides. Let the citrus sting and the spices burn, let the grossness reflect the grossness they've wrought on your own life being sent back.

Chop the whole thing into pieces in preparation for the next step.

Once you're ready, chuck it into the garbage disposal.

If you don't have a garbage disposal, a blender with some liquid should work too. You could even continue using nasties like lemon or pickle juice.

Your lemon is now ground up and liquefied. Dispose of the remains however you please.

writing a protective sigil inside your door to avoid bad energies to enter your room

making sigils by yourself works better because you pour your intention into it and can be a great way to manifest

white candles can replace any candle when doing candle magick

clear quartz can replace any crystal

when drinking your daily coffee/tea, stir clockwise to manifest something and anti-clockwise to let go of something. repeat your affirmations as you stir

salt baths absorb bad energies so having a salt bath once in a while helps with having your energies balanced

write an affirmation in a bay leaf and burn it to manifest it

always keep iron on you for protection

work with the moon phases and transits to make your spells more powerful

keep a sigil in your phone case for protection/manifestation

after giving an offering to a deity, return it to the earth

drink mugwort tea for lucid dreaming/astral projection (don’t drink it if you are pregnant!!)

before you put a crystal under water or in the sun, research about it

keep a dream journal. it helps for lucid dreaming.

put an amethyst under your pillow to sleep better and to recall your dreams

charge your tarot/oracle cards by putting a crystal on top of them while you are not usinf them

mix moon or sun water with your cosmetics for a quick beauty spell

try to do an activity to connect yourself with each element everyday. (ex: a bath for water, walking barefoot for earth, lighting a candle for fire, singing for air)

make an habit of meditating everyday

good morning, loyal scholars of the Peterick Institute. at the request of @glitterandrocketfuel, this morning let’s discuss the incredible gem, the demo version of My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark from 2003.

first things first: it’s the gayest thing, it’s a treasure to our people, it’s like a coming out letter from peter pan to the rest of the lost boys. so just… brace up.

we sold our souls in dark hotel rooms

we slip tongues and lie like “I will see you soon”s

two explorers in the dark

twin skeletons vibes, anyone? the idea of two drunk boys, huddled in a hotel room with the lights off, secretly making maps of each other while their bandmates breathe heavy, sound asleep in a bed beside them, is. the most. incredible. thing.

as for we sold our souls, I think there are queer overtones in pete’s invocation of religious themes, always. he was always, always outspoken against homophobia in the hardcore scene and society in general, and he writes often about the idea of sin and being cast out for who you are, and this is fundamentally a narrative of queerness to me.

I will see you soon is a lie on a few levels: most explicitly, that they’re touring and away from home for long periods of time. pete writes a lot about homesickness and being on the road and how it’s lonely and isolating but he’d still never trade it during the Van Days era. it’s also something you’d tell a lover you don’t intend to see again, as you slip out of their bed, a social lie that means goodbye. so as they’re kissing in the dark, what’s the lie? the part where they say it doesn’t matter? or is it lying together, horizontal and tangled as any one night stand?

we threw the game from the start

I’m desperate and devoted, the secret no one told us

so instead of an ominous, I-know-what-you-did-last-summer vibe, here my songs know is almost a cipher. it’s tender, not threatening, and tells us there are secrets here in these songs, just as there are fumbled secrets in the dark. ruined and I know it / desperate and devoted is fucking exactly how we would describe prehiatus pete about patrick, isn’t it? they are the secret no one told them, these two matched hearts: each loving the other and not saying it, just exploring in the dark. *break for sobbing*

now fast-forward to post-hiatus. the boys return overnight dramatically with this single. it’s the first song they choose to announce their return with, a choice that seems s i g n i f i c a n t. their first single. in this interview, Patrick says of the 2013 version of My Songs,

“It said to me, that kind of theory you have when you’re an adult, which is a different one than you have when you’re a teenager. Because when you’re a teenager you can say these permanent things like, “I hope you choke,” and “I hope you die,” and all these other things. When you’re an adult, the people that you said that to when you were a teenager are still around, and you still have to interact with, and you have to figure out how to deal with that. And that’s permanent, and the rest of your life is going to be like “Hey I’m seething with anger and I just—Hi”.”

and Pete said,

“When you do take account of your life, sometimes it’s all right to just burn it, raze it, and start fresh. For me, it’s happened a couple of times, and it’s been a healthy thing.”

so they’re taking old words and repurposing them deliberately, they’re reflecting on how they’ve changed since they were teenagers, recognizing the way they’d reeled it in from permanent extremes and found a way to live together and be around each other, even if it isn’t the way that it was, even if feelings are still jagged. they’ve learned to start fresh and risen from the tensions that led to the hiatus in a different, stronger, more adult form. they’re talking about their relationship, their working musical and professional relationship and the romantic frisson that was visible from space, whether you think anything ever happened between them or not.

and then—if we take the songs as companions—how devastating is be careful making wishes in the dark / can’t be sure when they’ve hit their mark. Like so much of modern era FOB, this speaks of me of missed chances: of not realizing what they had in each other when they had it, cuz they weren’t grown-up enough to be honest, were too afraid to say what either of them meant to each other out loud, were too stubborn-stupid to acknowledge what was right in front of them, were too public and blown up famous when they were still just kids to figure themselves out.

they release promo photos of them burning their discography and sing, take everything you love and burn the ashes. Pete writes from a complicated time-traveling tense, putting words on his teenage tongue as an adult, saying, I’ve got the scars from tomorrow and I wish you could see that you’re the antidote to everything except for me, meaning that there are things he wants to tell the past versions of them, that he knows now Patrick isn’t his cure and he should never have put him on a pedestal and treated him like medicine, that Patrick was always the best thing in his life and love never could have saved him, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t worth holding onto…

i’m not against vaping, but man, vaping two inches from my face on the subway is a ridiculous asshole kind of move. this dude was billowing like he was auditioning for the role of haunted house fog machine. the humidity in the whole car changed, he was ruining haircuts. just jump starting the water cycle. condensation was dripping down my glasses. people were slipping off poles, it was chaos. it was like watching one man try to terraform the moon. a planet with one dense, root beer scented atmosphere blocking out the sun and choking all life.
