So Let’s Just State the Obvious Here...

This blog is dead. Well maybe dead isn't the right word. After all I did finish what I set out to do. Write an inspection on every single canon Classpect. So let’s more say the blog is closed then.

My heart just isn't in it anymore. I can’t put the same attention and eagerness to to work on things like sessions and assignments. It kinda just feels like retreading. Like I said I've done what Classpector was made for. To me that’s enough of an accomplishment. 

Plus I’ll fully admit my love for Homestuck has waned quite a bit since when I fist started this. From when I revived it even. Constant hiatus will do that to a fan. I will still read the ending but I’m not bouncing up and down in anticipation waiting for it.

I do want to give one final thank you to you all. Everyone that is following now or has ever followed, everyone that has sent in submissions and requests, hell everyone that has rebloged or even just liked a post. As it is the follower count sits just bellow 300 making this the most successful project I've ever worked on by a long shot. I truly am grateful to you all.

Now I also want to insure everyone, I will NOT be deleting this blog. That would be an absolute waste to the hours I poured into it. It will still be here for all to see. Since there does still seem to be people that like and are interested in the things I had to say about Classpect. Just understand I will not update again or open the ask and submit up. Classpector is 100% truly done and over with.

Down Time

Hey everyone just a quick update here. I doubt it’s necessary to bring up how quiet it’s been here the last few days. Well sadly that might last a bit longer. 

Well I'm surely not strapped for time right now I am for energy. Long story short life is kinda kicking me in the ass about a few things and I need to get those settled before I can even think about mustering up the energy to write.

Hopefully I can get this all straightened out quickly cuss trust me, I hate leaving things off like this just as much if not more than you do.

Digimon Adventure Classpects Master Post

So yesterday I posted the biggest project for Classpector yet. Assigning Classpects to all 8 original Digimon characters. Due to my love of Digimon the thing had to broken down into 4 parts (2 characters each) since it was over 2600 words long.

So since that might be little hard and spacious to follow I’m making this master post to collect it all together. Bellow will be links to each individual post so you can see my reasoning for each assignment.

Digimon Adventure Classpects Part 4

Our next character we're looking at is the last of the initial group of seven. It's Matt's younger brother Takeru/TK. TK is the youngest of the group by quite a few years. Meaning a lot of the group usually gave him a lot of care and special attention to make sure he was alright while dealing with the dangers of the Digital World. He also had a tendency to cry and, well, act like a child at the start of the series. He learned quick though that he needed to toughen up so he could help out the team and not be a drag. His growth even shocked his own brother with how well he learned how to handle himself at a young age. TK gained the Crest of Hope on the journey for his unwavering hope and belief that they will triumph over their enemies in the end. No matter how bad the situation got. From their near loss against Devimon to the bleak situation of the Dark Masters takeover.

Here we have a very easy conversion to Classpect. Bearing the Crest of Hope it's easy to say TK would be a Hope Player. Both have the same name and both mean the same thing. Now the question is what kind of Hope Player would he be? Well there's kind of two answers to that. The common one I've seen before is him being a Page of Hope. Which there is a lot of evidence for. Patamon was always the last to get his digivolutions and they were always stronger than the others Digimon at the same level. So there's definitely the slow build aspect of the Page class. I'm going to offer a different idea though. I'm going to say to say that TK could be a Maid of Hope instead. Someone that creates and creates though hope. TK was always the ray of hope for the group. Never willing to back down and someone they could all agree needed to be protected (at the start at least). So I say TK makes everyone's hopes and then creates victories through his and the others hope. Making a situation where they can come back from the brink and claim victory. Just think to the Piedmon incident where he was the only one left and was to save everyone and help them beat Piedmon once and for all.

Finally we have the only character to not join the group at the start. The Eighth Child and Tai's little sister Hikari/Kari. Kari is a very sweet but frail girl, not being able to go to the summer camp everyone else went to due to a summer cold. She also got very sick while on the second trip to the Digital World and was at risk of dying if medicine wasn't found soon. Despite that Kari always puts others before herself and always wants to try and save everyone she can. Kari has the Crest of Light which is definitely the weirdest and least clear Crest. Based more on an idea rather than a concrete trait she has. This seems to reference her pureness and just how she is such a kindhearted person. It also seems to give her some form of weird connection with the Digital World and Digimon as a whole. Being able to communicate with an ancient spirit of the Digital World and heal and purify Digimon affected by evil. Like when they were stuck in the swears with the Numemon or when the “Divemon” kidnapped her in 02.

Kari was also a bit of a hard one to settle on for a Classpect. As said earlier Light in Digimon and Homestuck are very different so there wasn't an exact aspect comparison. I'm pretty confident in what I have decided though which is the Sylph of Life. The Sylph of Life is the ultimate White Mage of Classpect. Their power is to heal and care for other people and that's it. Something I think fits Kari well. A nice caring person like her would do well with the Sylph class as she's all about putting other people before herself. And Life is the best fit I could find for the Crest of Light due to the weird powers it gives Kari being similar to healing powers granted by the Life aspect.

Digimon Adventure Classpects Part 3

Moving on let's look at Joe. Joe was the oldest of the group and therefor felt responsible for everyone and their safety. It didn't help that he was a worry wart and had a tendency to panic and in general be very over prepared and wary. He did calm down throughout the series and his preparedness became a great asset to the group. Due to all this he gained the Crest of Reliability showing his best trait to be how reliable and ready he was for any situation. In the Japanese dub the Crest is known as the Crest of Sincerity (one of the only 2 characters to have their Crest changed in the dub). Meaning he is also very sincere. Which is true but I've always felt reliability fit him better.

Anyway though how does this equate to his Classpect? Well finding one for Joe was pretty hard. There's not a very good aspect equivalent this time around but I think I've found something good. I'm giving Joe the Classpect Seer of Doom. As I said he was a worry wort and always wanted to be prepared for the worst and make sure everyone one else was safe. Which I say fits a Seer of Doom as their power is to see a predict bad things happening. The injury or even worse death of a teammate. Or some strong and dangerous force about to attack the group. It's then their job to inform their group or  just the individual (depending on what doom was foreseen) of the impending situation and try to find a way to stop it. So someone that is always prepared for the worst and wants to keep everyone safe as they feel it is their responsibility I believe to be very fitting for the role of Seer of Doom.

Our next character is Mimi. Mimi was very spoiled and a bit selfish at the start of the series. She was very pampered and spoiled as a kid so adapting to the rough Digital World as a major curve for her. As the series progressed though she maturated a lot and it was shown she is actually very caring and sensitive to others. She even broke down and needed time alone after all their friends started dieing to the Dark Masters.  She still had her bad moments though whenever she had a chance to get what she wants. Such as with the Gekomon where she pretty much manipulated them for weeks on end. Mimi got the Crest of Sincerity (or Crest of Purity in the Japanese version) showing that even if she is a bit spoiled she is a very sincere and just really innocent person. In fact with the Japanese Crest I've always assumed it was a case of her not knowing better than her pampered life then her really being selfish.

Now what kind of Classpect would I give to someone like her? Well like Joe, Mimi was a hard choice. The aspect of Mind I've always been set on though. Mind is the aspect representing one's outer self and how others view the player. So someone like Mimi who can be a bit vain with her appearance and heavily cares for how others are feeling fits Mind pretty well. Class was the hard choice but I've finally settled on Rogue. Meaning Mimi is the Rogue of Mind. Mimi is very open with her thoughts and opinions. No matter how harsh she can be sometimes. Like the Crest says she is very sincere not one to hide her thoughts. So a Rogue of Mind, a Classpect that is all about the power to share people's thoughts open and free seems very fitting for Mimi.

Digimon Adventure Classpects Part 2

Third we've got Sora. Sora is the tried and true team mom. She cares for everyone and looks after their well being. Such as when Tai was separated from the group she still tried to look out for everyone even if it was from the shadows. With that it was only fitting she got the Crest of Love for her deep love and care for those around her. She had some issues excepting that kind of power though (mainly from demidevimon screwing around with her head.) but she later accepted it and was even able to overcome her own issues with loving her mother.

Again this is a power pretty easy to equate to Classpect. In this case she fits the Heart aspect very well. The Crest of Love is even a heart symbol as well to make it even more fitting. Now while the aspect was easy the class was a bit harder to choose. Though I'm pretty good with saying Sora would be a Page of Heart. The Page is the slow build class meaning it takes a while for players with this class to fully come into it. And while Sora was really always the caring type for the group it took her a good while to really except that and her love for her friends and Digimon partner. That mostly steamed from her own issues with her mother and thinking she didn't love her. Once she got over that though she was able to unleash her crests full power. I also picked Page due to it's leadership abilities. While Tai is definitely the leader for the group I like to think of Sora as the emotional leader. Taking care of everyone emotionally and making sure they're all right. Again just like a good team mom.

Next let's talk Koshiro/Izzy. He's the brains of the group. The one always looking at the Digital World with fascination and wanting to figure out all its secrets. While he does tend to get way to caught up in his findings and his computer there's no doubt that his thirst for knowledge is his best trait. So he fittingly has the Crest of Knowledge. Izzy unlike a lot of the others never really has a crisis with his what his crest represents. It was used against him in an effort to steal all his knowledge though and people call him out on his obsession a lot, but he still was always comfortable and unquestioning in his love to learn.

And again we have a pretty good equal in Classpect to Izzy's crest. In this case it's the aspect of Light. Now I know a few of you are saying; “Hey isn't there a Crest of Light? Shouldn't that fit with the Light aspect?” Well what Light in Digimon means and what Light in Classpect means is very different. Light is the aspect of Knowledge so someone with the Crest of Knowledge would definitely be a Light Player. For class I think Mage is very fitting. Making him the Mage of Light. Mage's have an incredible knowledge of things right off the hop, like with Izzy's great knowledge of computers and technology in general. They do have a hard time taking in new info though. Such as Izzy did when they first got there. It took him awhile to fully accept the Digital World for what it is. Mage's are also able to take direct action with the knowledge they have and what they learn. Which Izzy did. Using his computer skills to hack varies parts of the Digital World to help the group along their journey. Such as when they were being attacked by Andromon he was able to force Tentomon to digivolve by hacking the computer tower. As well as when him and Mimi were stuck on the moving island. He was able to find the map to the maze and guide her along when she got lost.

Digimon Adventure Classpects Part 1

Ooooh boy. This is one I've been looking forward to doing. Digimon is one of my absolute favourite animes. Hell the whole franchise is one of my absolute favourite anything! So since you want Adventure specifically (and since trying to do every single protagonist across all the series at once would be to much) I'm gonna to be doing the 8 Chosen Children/Digidestined. And no I will not be covering their Digimon partners. Just the humans.

Also just for the record I'll be referring to the characters by their dub names due to them being shorter and easier to remember for me.

So let's start this with the leader of the group (and my favourite character) Taichi/Tai. Tai is headstrong and brash at the start of the series like any good shounen hero but grows into a very smart and solid leader by the end. His crest (an item each of the characters have that represents their best and strongest trait) is the Crest of Courage. Showing his bravery and willingness to stand up and fight no mater what. Like in the Edemon incident or the many fights against the Dark Masters.

I feel Tai fits the role of the Heir of Breath. Yes I think he shares a Classpect with Homestuck's own main character and lovable goof ball. Why is that? Well I feel Breath equates the best to the idea of courage. The desire to be free and do what you want when you want takes a lot of courage to not let people or society hold you down. To be truly free is to be truly brave in my eyes. As for why Heir, well I feel Tai is changed by his courage over the course of the series and inspire it in his friends as well. After beating Edemon, activating his crest for the first time, and coming back from a brief stint in the real world Tai changed quite a bit. It was the start of him becoming the real leader for the group. His come back is also what helped all his friends to face up to the issues they'd been facing through his absence and finally free themselves from the issues that held them back. He inspired everyone to be free and true. Making him an Heir of Breath.

Next up is Yamato/Matt. Matt was the lancer of the group. Cool headed and collected to counter Tai's initial hot head and brashness. He would always try to act distant and aloof but deep down really cared for everyone. Especially his little brother TK. That's why he got the Crest of Friendship. Showing his care for the group and the deep connection he made with them. Every new digivolution for Gabumon always came out when he was trying to save someone else as well. (TK from Seadramon, Joe from Digitamamon, and everyone from Venommyotismon.)

It's pretty easy to equate Matt's crest here to the aspect of Blood. Blood is all about bonds, ties, and friendship. So it's only natural that Matt would be a Blood Player. What kind though? Well once again I'm going with a canon Classpect and saying he's a Knight of Blood. Just like the trolls angry crab of a leader Karkat. So like I said the Blood part is pretty easy. Matt's best trait his is dedication to his friends and in turn his friends give him his power. But why a Knight? Well I just kind of said it. Matt get's all his power from his friends. His faith in them, his willingness to save them, etc. You could say he get's all he can out of them in a way. Just like a Knight would. The twist here though is that unlike Karkat that exploited his friends bonds to get them to work together as much as he could, Matt use's his friends powers to get as much as he can. Using his friendships as a power for him and Gabumon.

Weird. I'll resend it, then. Earlier, you figured PI of Problem Sleuth would be the Maid of Space. (I also came to that conclusion, actually. Great minds!) I know that the exact descriptions of various classes and aspects vary from person to person, but I was curious what you thought of this particular theory about PI's potential godtier: bladekindeyewear post/27100526863/so-ive-solved-homestuck-contains-problem-sleuth (Darn asks not allowing links...)

Oh so that’s where the Calliope becomes Paradox Space theory came from. Neat. 

On the topic of the actual question though, I do actually agree with the theory there. The idea of a Muse of Space is a reference to GPI. So it is fitting that he would be a Muse of Space and not a Maid. Not really any differing of opinions there.

This does bring up a conundrum for me though. You see I always kind of just disregard the Master Classes while assigning Classpects. Due to them being very OP. Really only save them for characters that are actual Gods in their series.

Which yes GPI is very much so a God in Problem Sleuth. But PI himself (just his normal self) is not. So I was kind of more looking at him. That’s the conundrum here as the character is a God and not a God at the same time. 

So let’s go with this. PI normal is a Maid of Space and GPI as an individual is a Muse of Space. 

Hopefully that was the kind of answer you were looking for. I feel this was kinda ramblely.

What Classpects would Digimon anime characters have? Adventure, specifically. I want to see what you'll make of their crests and all.

Ok so working on this for the past 3 days has shown me this is going to be the LONGEST post I’ve ever written for this blog. As such I’m going to have to post it in chunks. Probably around 4 chucks 2 characters a piece. So that will be posted over the next few days once I finish it up (I’m about half way done now).

As for why this is going to be so long? Weeeeeeell I just sorta fucking love Digimon.

I'm not sure if you've ever seen the show 'Gravity Falls' but what do you think their titles would be?

I sadly have not seen Gravity Falls beyond the first 3 or 4 episodes. I did absolutely love what I saw there and what I’ve seen/heard about the show here on Tumblr and from friends.

So I do plan to watch it soon. And I’ll be tucking this away for after that. So stay tuned cuss a post about Gravity Falls Classpects may pop up here eventually.

If social interaction is always Blood, does that mean only Blood players are supposed to use their powers on other people?

Uuuuuhm, no?

Yes Blood is the power of bonds and ties between people so social interaction is a good way to put it, but that doesn’t mean Blood Players are the only players that can effect others. Heck using your powers on others is what a lot of classes are all about!

Take the Stealing Class, Thief and Rogue for example. Their powers are all about taking their aspect usually from other people. The Rogue even more so since not only do they have to take their aspect from someone they then have to give it to another. And this is with any aspect the Thief or Rogue end up with. Not just Blood.

So no, Blood Players are far from the only players that can use their powers on or for others.

What do you think is the combination of classpects that would make a team most likely to fail?

A combination most likely to fail? Hmmm that’s an interesting one. It would have to be a group of Classpects that each of have a high chance of messing with their team members or not working with team dynamics. It may not be THE worst combo but I’ll see what I can think up for a simple 4 player session complete with Space and Time player.

After thinking for a bit I’m gonna go with Bard of Time, Prince of Space, Knight of Breath, and the Seer of Doom. Now I want to stress that there’s nothing wrong with these Classpects individually but putting them into one session I can see leading to a lot of issues. Mainly just from a lot of problems they could pose to any session just being combined into a huge mess of nothing getting done.

The Bard of Time is a careless time traveller by nature making it so this session’s timeline would be  a mess of unstable loops and doomed timelines and time clones. The Prince of Space aside from having the power to shatter everything that space encompasses, they might go on a frog killing spree instead of breeding them. Leading to no Genesis Frog and no fruitful session. The Knight of Breath would be swept up in all the new freedom they acquire and would be likely to just disregard their role and quest to do what they want. Plus since it’s the Knight’s job to help with the breeding there would be no one to stop the Prince’s frog rampage. Finally the Seer of Doom would be just left there to watch this unfold. Their power most likely wouldn’t develop until it was to late and they wouldn’t have the power to stop their visions of doom from coming true. And I doubt by this point any of their teammates would listen to what they have to say.

So a ravaged timeline, dead frogs, a Knight that doesn’t care, and a Seer stuck with horrible visions they can’t prevent. All piles up to be one big mess of a session.

I know that as of this moment, you're not done with the analysis of the Muses and Lords, but I'm going to send this in anyway in hopes that you will some day potentially do this... The Problem Sleuth gang! Any ideas on what their classpects would be? I feel like PS would be Blood and PI would be Space, but their classes and everything about AD is a mystery to me! Any thoughts on the matter?

And that someday is today! I said after all the inspections were done it would be all sessions and assigning and it’s finally time to live up to that.

Alright so Team Sleuth. The main stars of Homestuck’s predecessor.

Let’s start things off with the main man himself Problem Sleuth. Looking everything over I do have to agree with you that he would be a Blood Player. His ability to lead and form friendships with his fellow detectives, as well as being the rational (well rational in comparison) member of the group leads to this. For class I’m pretty certain on Page, making him a Page of Blood. Now why a Page? Well two reasons. One a Page uses their power to lead and guide others. A Page of Blood being able to lead a ragtag group into being a very efficient and powerful one. Which is exactly what PS did. Getting him PI and AD to work together to beat DMK. He even got over his own dislike of AD and became friends with him. The second reason is that it took him the longest to realize his full power. PI was able to use his great imagination from the start (Heck the man was able to make a version of himself God) and AD always had his strength. But for PS it took awhile for him to fully utilize the power of his pulchritude, and when he did it lead to them being able to finish off DMK.

Next let’s look at Ace Dick. I’ve got to go with Knight of Rage on this one. Somethings aren’t to fitting as Ace Dick is definitely not a calm and harmless person most of the time. But the power to completely exploit anger to boost your strength seems fitting for him. Especially his alternate self Fiesta Ace Dick. Plus AD has the least imagination of  Team Sleuth so a Knight of Rage which has next to no flash in their style of fighting but is effective as hell with raw strength just fits to well.

Finally we have Pickle Inspector. I don’t think it comes to any surprise (especially since you mentioned it in your ask) that PI would be a Space Player. His imagination is the highest of the team and let’s him do some damn creative stuff in the imagination world. Including, but not limited to MAKING HIMSELF A GOD. Granted said god can only fondly regard things but the point still stands. Now as for class I’m dead set with Maid. Making him the Maid of Space.

Now a quick side note here as I already hear people raising and eye to this. Yes, I know PI is a guy and that the Maid is supposed to be a female class. But I have never liked the idea of gendered classes and have always gone with the idea that any gender can be any class. It just seems a bit silly for a character to fit a class to an absolute T, like PI here, but than not give them that class just due to the fact they aren’t the right gender. Anyway just putting this out here as I haven’t said it outright before.

So yeah Maid of Space. PI showed that he can use his insane imagination to create things within the imagination world. From simple candy to full out alternate versions of himself. Using creativity to create, that is exactly what a Maid of Space is all about. Plus since one of him is also God he, in a weird plot shit way, created the world as well. Which means he created a whole plane of space!

So I've just really been getting into the Classpect system and noticing how terrible for the session some are. Like a Prince of Blood out of control could probably tear a team apart. What are some of the worst classpects to have in a session?

Well I don’t want to say there are outright bad Classpects for sessions. Anything can work. It just depends on how the player wants to use their powers. But I will agree there are definitely some that can mess things up pretty easily and spectacularly. So I guess here’s a small list of what I think are some of those Classpects.

(Just gonna say this isn’t in any particular order. Just the first 5 that came to mind.)

First one that comes to mind is the Witch of Blood (even had the asker for it worried it was a bad Classpect). The ability to manipulate friendships and bonds to your will can be pretty easily abused in messed up ways.

Next is Sylph of Doom. From the idea that healing someone’s doom means making sure they die. Which is pretty messed up considering every other Sylph’s role. Imagine if the Sylph of Doom just decided to restore every bit of doom their team could have experienced. That would be messed up.

Third I would say Thief of Heart can be pretty bad. As if simply stealing and ripping someone’s soul out of their body wasn’t bad enough, the soul can then be used by the Thief in anyway they. They could put you in a rock or just cast you aside and let you wander as a soul forever.

Fourth I’m gonna say a Bard of Hope. Picking that out of all the Bard’s (since pretty much any of them have a good chance to muck things up with their wild card status) due to the fact that someone that just passively destroys all hope and positivity around them would not be good for a team dynamic. Especially in something like a session of Sburb.

Finally there’s the Page of Void. If they could achieve their full Page potentially they could turn into a ruthless leader that builds everything they say on lies and deceit. Being able to take their team and session down a very bad path and probably mess everything up.

So yeah. A few Classpects that I think, if misused, can cause some pretty big disasters in their sessions.

Question

I was wondering, how do you go through your classpecting process?

Hmmm, cool question. Well there's not some super secret method to it at all. It's really rather mundane.

For the inspections it always started with writing those simple descriptors of the class and aspect and what exactly that means. Than trying to expand on that. You know what does it mean to make the aspect or destroy it or what could you do with controlling it outright, etc. Than usually it would be what kind of abilities could they have pre-God Tier or what kind of effects on personality/what kind of traits would come with these kind of powers. Finally what combat abilities would they have and what kind of role they would play to a team.

A lot of times other things would strike me as I was writing. Realizing something about the powers or a consequence that could come about. Anytime you see a “And something I just thought of” or anything along those lines is when that happens.

Really the most interesting thing I could think of is I never looked up other people's own posts on the Classpects. I wanted to make sure everything I wrote was of my own ideas and thoughts and that I wouldn't end up just stealing the ideas of others. Though after it was posted I always went to the Classpect's tag to then see what others wrote. See if they matched my ideas or if there was stuff I never really thought of.

Also once I got a good number of them done I would look back at my own inspections if I was stumped on something. Usually looking at inspections with the same class to just see what I wrote about them before. Try and get ideas for how the class could be applied to the new aspect.

Now I can finally start on all those session and assigning asks I’ve got. That will start in full next week everyone (will have a few small things to post at the end of the week though) so look forward to it!
