❛ what’chu mean it’s ‘ too early ‘ ?? it’s never too early to get some nugs when phones is buyin’. ❜ // @naserenity !
adhd & dyslexic beat is so valid
adhd & dyslexic beat is so valid
BEAT IS UNDIAGNOSED dyslexic as well as ADHD. When he was young, Beat struggled in school and, as a result of that, at home because of it. Beat was a disappointment to his parents who, unfortunately, couldn’t understand that it was not his fault. When Rhyme was born, Beat’s inadequacies resulted in him being compared to his sister —— something he regularly fought about with his parents and inevitably resulted both his and Rhyme’s deaths as it was a fight with their parents that made him leave and Rhyme chase after him in the first place, putting them both in the wrong place at the wrong time.
BECAUSE OF HIS dyslexia, it took Beat significantly longer than the average child to learn to read. At the time of the Reaper’s Game, Beat’s reading comprehension is significantly improved, but he reads at a much slower pace than a person without dyslexia. In addition to reading troubles, Beat’s dyslexia occasionally manifests itself in the way he speaks:
“Hey! Very imprecious, Phones!” “Wow, Phones! That was spesticular!”
❝ School-age children with dyslexia may exhibit signs of difficulty in identifying or generating rhyming words, or counting the number of syllables in words […]. They may also show difficulty in segmenting words into individual sounds or may blend sounds when producing words […]. Difficulties with word retrieval or naming things is also associated with dyslexia. ❞

. BEAT’S ADHD SYMPTOMS only compounded his parents’ frustration with him. Being incapable of focusing on a single thing for too long and needing to constantly be on the move meant that the already difficult task of learning to read seem all but impossible. Distraction and forgetfulness didn’t help either, often making him have to re-learn the same material over several times before fully retaining it.
MUCH OF BEAT’S ENERGY, impatience, impulsiveness and low tolerance for stress and the ease of which he is agitated can also be attributed to the undiagnosed disorder. Had the disorder been diagnosed, Beat likely would have been able to receive the help he needed in order to succeed. Unfortunately, because of the way that ADHD manifests in children and because of having parents a little farther on the old-fashioned side of the scale, they opted not to seek a medical opinion and he was labeled as simply another ‘problem child.’

THE RESULT OF SO MUCH criticism from people who were supposed to support him had an extremely (and not at all surprising) negative effect on his sense of self-worth. Because he didn’t know that there was a reason for his struggles, he simply started to believe that he was, in fact, just stupid and that it was entirely his own fault. Eventually he gave up on himself, part because of his own lack of belief in his abilities, part because he wanted his parents to give up and leave him be as well —— and they did, to a degree. Rhyme, on the other hand, did not. Unfortunately, because of so many years of believing that he was a lesser person, her support came across to him as pity and being pitied by his younger sister on top of everything wasn’t something he could handle, an so he began to push her away.
although i like the ending song, i’m not a fan of it as a replacement for lullaby for you
things i wish the switch version would have added an option for: adjusting your level/drop rate if you fail a fight
sure, you don’t have to have war flashbacks of fighting the Secret Boss™ on ultimate with your tin pin deck anymore with the option to change pins and retry
but like....... i’m still the same idiot i was when the game first came out, i’m still gonna make dumb mistakes like that so ??? give me a break and let me fix my level in the game over screen when i forget to do it before a fight. don’t make me feel bad by forcing me to play it on easy mode, i can do it on hard if you let me
The World Ends With You: Solo Remix - TATAKAI
Welp, October ends so fast, better rush in some inking stuff. Anyway, if ya haven’t known, Beat is my best partner!
