REBOOT! - Not really though just kinda...

It’s been a while Pottermore friends. 

Recently the idea came up to make some sort of reunion since a lot of us got plenty of nostalgia over this past month.  So here’s the gist:

Two major plot lines:

One happening this week until sunday (I mean if you wanna go past that day thats fine too) - Basically a year time skip, people are coming back to school and getting settled into their dorms and seeing their old friends again.  

Next week it’s Halloween - Post of a Halloween party in the works with all the info.  Though it won’t be on Halloween weekend because I’m sure plenty of us have Halloween events in real life to go to lol.  For now still working on the post, stay tuned.

"It is RIDICULOUSLY confusing," he said with a laugh as he looked over at him. "And in a lot of ways yes, it does suck. But," he shrugged and gave Gabriel a small smile, "I'm sure you'll figure it out."

As Gabriel got up he stared up at him from the ground. Unlike most people he knew Gabs was a good kid, just highly misunderstood. Whenever an incident came up with him he tried to make sure he got there before any other Prefects. The others would do stupid things sometimes that would piss him off more.

He smiled, "I'll know from the smile on your face or the sudden destruction of the castle." He, too, threw a smile over his shoulder and stayed on the ground for a few minutes before getting up to go shower.

He watched the anger leave him, and it was hard to keep a smile from appearing on his face. The last thing he needed was Gabriel thinking he was mocking him. Nodding at Gabriel he was glad to listen to the kid realizing everything.

He watched as Gabriel slumped forward, letting out a grunt that he could only assume meant that he was at least consenting to that fact.

"Despite being an old man, Roscoe is the first guy I've ever kissed. I know just as little about all of this as you do." It was true, in his long line of being here he hadn't even held anyone's hand romantically. Roscoe had been his first then, too. "But I'm not letting my inexperience stop me."

He smiled at Gabriel, before flopping back on the grass and letting out a sigh. It felt really good to just lay here in the sun, letting his sweat dry on his body. He needed a shower, and he knew when he did he'd scrub every inch of the sweat off of him. Really being OCD had it's downfall.

He didn't really have much else to say, and he waited for Gabriel to ask him anything else. He had done some uh... research... on how to do everything since he was now dating a guy. Of course he had no plans on going through all of it, but having the extra knowledge wasn't a bad thing. So while he couldn't speak from experience he could at least give a few suggestions.

He watched the anger leave him, and it was hard to keep a smile from appearing on his face. The last thing he needed was Gabriel thinking he was mocking him. Nodding at Gabriel he was glad to listen to the kid realizing everything.

"He loves you for a reason, Gabriel. He loves you for you. The only thing that's changing is that neither of you are lying to yourselves or each other." He tried to give him an encouraging smile, "I'm sure you'll figure it out. And who else is more patient and understanding than him?"

His eyes moved to look out at the Forbidden Forest, thinking of the creatures within it, giving Gabriel a few moments to think. "Gabriel... Can you honestly see yourself with anyone but him?" It was a risky question, and most guys saw themselves with everyone under the sun at one point or another, but that wasn't really what he was asking. He was asking if Gabriel could see himself getting close to anyone like the way he was with Reynard. Start over and trust someone like he trusted that kid.

In a way when Kaisa died he paid even more attention, trying to distract himself with other people.

"Don't force yourself into something you're not ready for," he said. It was odd, saying this. He had figured eventually the two would get together, but this may not be the best time for it. Gabriel was always angry, and being in a relationship would take patience, but Gabriel and Reynard had been friends for a long time. He had no doubt the man would have enough patience when necessary, but set his foot down when needed. In a way he respected Reynard for that, seeing some of himself in the slightly younger student.

"But, you should know that no one knows how to at first. The only way to learn is to try. You can't gain knowledge if you don't experience it." Gabriel was good at jumping into things head first, it was good to see him actually taking the time to think about it. It also meant he was really giving this relationship a lot of thought, he was considering upping the relationship. He'd been wondering when they would both figure this out. They had relied on each other for so long and had been close for years, it wasn't surprising that eventually the relationship would develop into something more.

"If this is who I think it is, they are the most patient person you have ever met, and probably already the closest." He gave Gabriel an encouraging smile. "Relationships are difficult, but at the time they can make you a better person, and happy." He bit his lip for a moment, ready to talk about something he never ever brought up. "With Roscoe... I think this is the happiest I've been since Kaisa... Well... You know. Maybe this will be a good chance for you to let more of something good into your life, something you already know is good."

It was probably the most he'd spoken in a week, but when he spoke he tried to make sure it was useful. He hoped this was.

It is not a bad thing to like someone, Gabriel." He was sure that Gabriel would have found out he was with Roscoe, most people somehow aware of it. He was hoping that if Gabriel did realize his appreciation for Reynard he'd know Dethrin would be accepting of it.

Of course he wasn’t going to leave Gabriel by himself. That sounded like one of the stupidest ideas in existence. Sure, the boy wasn’t planning on beating up a kid, but he got the impression that if someone accidentally bumped into him he’d kill the runt.

As Gabriel sat down he moved to sit next to him, a good couple of feet between them as he lay back on the grass. It was a nice day, and he balled his robes into a pillow to lay under his head. Closing his eyes he took in the quiet for a few moments, sighing lightly. But as Gabs started speaking he sat back up, pulling his legs upwards to rest his elbow on them.

"I would be willing to listen," he said after a moment. Honestly, Gabriel should know that by now. And while he didn't know the full story they had grown up together. He had watched the way the boys coward from their family, helped them several times avoid being caught, and always Dethrin had been quiet about it. "I can also give advice if you wish it, but I am a decent listener."

Gabriel was essentially on his last strike, and if he needed to he would bind up the teenager and spend an afternoon in the Forbidden Forest to calm him down if that was necessary. Or suggest he have a fight with the Whomping Willow. That actually wasn't a bad idea. Perhaps he'd suggest that.

As he turned around and puffed up Dethrin held in his smile. It was sort of amusing how this man defended himself, and how he tried to look bigger than he was. It only made him look younger to him, but that was his own opinion.

"I am making sure you don't decide to unleash your anger on some poor second years," he explained. "I have no desire to interfere on your walk, but I am concerned about the fellow students' safety." He kept his distance, just as he had. Honestly the longer they had walked the more room he'd allowed between them. Gabriel was doing a good job of keeping himself in check, but whenever there was a fight it seemed either Gabriel, Atticus, or Pierce were involved. He was hoping to prevent a fight before it happened, even if it meant getting a few bruises himself as he was a fencer, not a boxer.

Dethrin was a smart man. In many ways he was probably one of the more intelligent students on the campus. However, as students watched him walk towards that Gabriel fella, they began to doubt said intelligence.

It wasn't so much that Dethrin had a death wish, he'd just experienced Gabriel in one of these moods before. It meant he was most likely going to hurt someone if he kept up this attitude of his. And if Dethrin had any say in that, he wanted to make sure there would be no more students winding up in the infirmary that day.

He'd just gotten out of Quidditch practice, the warm day leaving him rather toasty in his Quidditch robes. It was why they were currently slung over his shoulder instead of actually on his body. Normally he would have put it back on, but frankly if he was going to wind up in a fight with Gabriel the less that man had to grab onto the better.

Walking along with the shorter man he was about 2 paces off to his side. Where was Reynard? Did they get into a fight about something? If so... There was really no way to put a lid on this kid's anger.

Either way he walked along silently, glad that the looks Gabriel gave everyone meant they avoided him.

“Sounds like a plan!” she said adn clapped her hands. Half of the excitement was just an act for Dethrin’s sake so he would stop to worry, but she was genuinely happy that she would probably get a bit help with her more problematic assignments. She could never follow her dream to become a librarian if she slacked off like this.

“And Dethrin?” she asked, looking up to the taller boy with a smile on her lips and her hair still brushed behind her ears like back when they first met eachother.

“Thanks. You’re a great friend.”

He smiled at her as they reached the dorm room, him moving to go take care of putting his things away and sending his uniform off to be cleaned. Walking back downstairs he looked at her with a smile. "You should start your homework. I will shower. When I'm done I was planning on working on my homework. If you have any questions I will be here to assist you."

With that he moved to go to the Prefect bathroom, a towel and bathrobe in hand for his return journey.

Returning the hug Brooke just wanted to stay like this for a while. Dethrin was a kind person and she always felt kind of bad when she came to him with her problems, while she knew he had his own problems.

“I’ll try. you are right I can’t give up because of this.”

She smiled back at him and took two steps after him, before realizing. Hey so that was that about being rooted to the floor apaprently. Perhaps Dethrin-kisses resolved curses that paralyzed poor girl legs.

“Wait!”, she called out as she took after him, walking with him back to the castle.

“You don’t happen to know someone I could ask for help with some of this stuff? You are busy enough as it is and I don’t want t annoy you needlessly.”

She really didn’t want to. She didn’t like depending on other people’s help but if she had to she’d rather not be a nuisance to her friends and constant helpers so she would much rather accept help from someone she didn’t know so well.

He smiled as she moved to follow him, glad that she wasn't going to stay outside forever. As she walked with him and asked who could help her he thought about it for a moment.

"You should do as much homework as you can by yourself. I run a study group for the Ravenclaws in the dorm right after dinner. It allows many students to help each other or ask me for help. You should join us."

He started it when he got back from school, and even talked to the prefects in other houses to arrange something like that. It let the students in the houses get to know each other and everyone could get involved. So far, from what he had been hearing, it was going well in all the houses.

"If you can't find someone to help you I will," he said with a smile. He was probably one of the most patient in the house when it came to helping someone study.

“I know, but… Look I still have some weird inheritance stuff to figure out. And… I really don’t think I will ever have to use most of this stuff ever again. I will try to get some of the essays done. Just… Just give me some time to adjust.”

Her eyes were sad, and she was staring at the forest again, een if she didn’t really see anything. Somewhere, burried deep inside her heart was still the hope that her Pa would just come back and make everything better again, give her purpose and direction again.

She mostly felt lost. When people were talking and joking, laughing, she didn’t know what to say or do but pretend she found it funny as well.

When people were in class, trying to study, doing general school stuff she could not shut the voice in her head up telling her to quit this stupid shit and set to work. If she could figure out a way to sell her jewelries she would be independant from her mother’s savings. She would feel actually free.

Her legs still felt like pillars that were anchored to the ground. It was like this a lot, whenever she wanted to walk away and solve her problems she would end up mentally chained to the place, unable to take even one step forward.

Standing up he moved to wrap her in a hug, hoping she wouldn't really mind that he was kind of sweaty at that moment.

"I am going to tell you the hard truth of someone dying," he said with a breath. It was going to be a bit of a long speech, and one about his sister, something he wasn't really looking forward to saying. "There are people who will say it gets easier. They're lying. For the rest of your life you will remember their deaths. You will still feel that pain, though the initial shock will be gone. Some days you manage to keep yourself distracted, others you don't. And then there comes a time where it's hard to remember their faces, and then you find yourself looking at pictures and hating the fact that you could possibly forget. That pain will always be in your heart, but you do learn how to manage it."

Letting her go he let out a sigh and ran his fingers over her hair lightly, giving her a small smile. "You are strong, Brooke. And I know it's hard to continue on, but do you honestly think your father would want you to fail you classes? If you can't do it for yourself, do it for them. Become the best version of yourself possible, and do as much living as you can because they can't." He gave her a small kiss on her forehead, a brotherly one before he grabbed his things. "Don't stay out here too long," he said before he started heading for the castle.
