First, after an aggressive war on Gaza City and its revival, we were displaced from our 3-storey house in which I and my family of 3 members live.

My father's family consists of 8 members

My grandfather, may God have mercy on him, was martyred by occupation aircraft on 12/14/2023.

The one who was martyred while he was leaving the house to check on our house next to him, which could not be reached due to a brutal enemy who does not differentiate between anyone in death, went out to check on our house, which we were not in because of my displacement to Rafah, me, my father, and our families due to the intensity of the fighting in Khan Yunis, and after that A few days ago, our store in which my father and brothers work was bombed by occupation aircraft. He was working to gather his strength from it and meet the needs of our house, which no longer exists due to the bombing. We ask you to help and contribute, even if just a little, by donating to us so that we can compensate for a little of what we lost.

Hades stans: Oh yeah hades is sooooo badly represented in media, he’s always portrayed as a villain when in reality he has done nothing wrong!! Why do people always see him as a bad guy? It’s unfair…

Also Hades stans: Demeter is such a BITCH for trying to rescue Persephone. She wants to separate my otp, therefore she is an abusive, overprotective mother who wants to keep her daughter a virgin forever cause she’s just this EVIL. I know that cause I read Lore Olympus once.

It’s honestly so boring how these stans of Hades take away any and all complexities from his character as the greek god of the dead and replace it to just being a faithful husband. Like maybe I’m complaining too much but the way that these fans watered down virtually everything about the Persephone and Hades myth is so sad to me, they’re always claiming that there’s not an official version of the myth and that there’s multiple versions of it but in the same sense when you even try to paint Hades as a kidnapper or tell them that Persephone didn’t want to go to the Underworld and that she actually enjoyed her life with her mother all of a sudden the only version that there is is the romanticized one.

The romanticized one honestly feels so incredibly modernized that I personally can’t view it as another version of the myth. It lacks a lot of nuance and complexity and the only interesting things about the version almost never gets explored by anyone, people are just completely glued to the love story. I want to know why Persephone wanted to leave, what about the Underworld got her attention, what was her motivations on eating the pomegranate, did she want to become queen or just experience something new and why, etc. I can go on and on about these elements that are barely fleshed out or written well with this story since it always comes down to Persephone being bored or exhausted with the mortal realm and for whatever reason she decides to run off with a strange man to be whisked off to an entirely different realm than her own and she’s just okay with the change. There’s no conflict, no flaws, no doubts, nothing that makes us think that Persephone feels anything other than love for this man and it’s a narrative that’s ran its course.

There’s only so much you can do with this version and it’s starting to look like the exact same format over and over again. Anyways, with that being said I’d like more soulcrushing versions of Persephone’s kidnap being an actual kidnap and someone genuinely respecting the fact that Demeter is Persephone’s mother not her competition.

I'm never going to not be furious about Lore Olympus having a whole mini arc dedicated to Demeter questioning her parenting and apologizing to Persephone and trying to work through her generational trauma, while Hades neglects Thanatos his entire life, humiliates and bullies him several times as an adult, and the way that is dealt with is one chapter of Hades saying "my dad sucked so I didn't even try to be a parent" and not even apologizing, while Thanatos has to apologize to Hades and tells him "you weren't as bad as you could have been, i made things difficult for you as a kid and at least you were there" and that's it.

And people still bring up the Kronos trauma bullshit, if I’m being completely honest with you Rachel brought that story into every single shitty thing Hades has done up until now in this story so much so that I don’t even see it as a big deal now. I know this sounds invalidating as hell but I can’t keep lying and making it seem like it holds any weight in my mind, your dad made you go into the corner for a few years :((( so now you have to prey after younger women and treat the lower class like shit for no other reason except for the fact that you can, I think that’s bullshit.

The flashbacks also gave me nothing to work with, I literally just kept seeing a grown ass man curling up in a ball of liquid after he just berated and harassed a random nymph on the street. I really could care less about Kronos eating Hades, I don’t know if that’s a hot take or something but the way he treated Thanatos is sick and I will always despise Rachel for really trying to make it seem like Hades once again blaming Thanatos for his own mistreatment and abandonment was ever his fault. There’s too many kids out there going through similar situations with their deadbeat dads, they don’t deserve to hear the lie of “it’s your fault I did xyz” and it’s a horrible thing to even praise. Once again Rachel dropped the ball and supported something else fucked up 🙀.

Because why not? I just don’t understand the way that fans think, on one hand we can’t associate or even compare Lore Olympus to the myths because they’ll say “well it’s her retelling she doesn’t have to do things exactly alike” but on the other hand when you’re talking about the story by itself they’ll then try to counter whatever argument against Lore Olympus by saying “this is what they did in the myths!! why are you guys mad at greek mythology??” so which one is it because it’s giving me a headache. I get so tired of seeing the exact same argument from fans it’s so redundant and I mean that in the nicest way possible, I’m sure a lot of you are great people but the things y’all say and do for this comic is insane.

Rachel is adding yet another sex scene and people are rightfully angry. We’re in the climax where the world is basically in an apocalyptic state and the gods are all in danger of having no mortals to worship them and give them any purpose and it’s all because of Persephone, no one is thinking “oh yeah this is the perfect time for intimacy” and if you wanted to give fan service to those who are craving it you should’ve did it in a more calmer setting?? No one is threatening Rachel and telling her that she needs to add these ridiculously high stakes to her comic which prevents her from smoothly writing NSFW of the main couple, she’s literally doing this herself which is one of the reasons why it gets so annoying whenever fans get mad at people for being upset or disappointed. She’s doing this to herself, am I saying harass the woman or cyber bully her? No but that’s not what a lot of these people are doing, in every single webtoon especially one as big as Lore Olympus you’re going to have people who view your content differently or disagree with the way you’ve written things. I’m not trying to encourage the idea of changing your entire story to bend to those people but a large majority of your fandom are starting to have the exact same complaints and it’s clear that your plots are not being fleshed out at all, these people are just asking (no, begging really) for a cohesive story not a masterpiece.

Which brings me to my next point, all of the criticisms and explanations many critics have been sharing are entirely valid. You cannot put a sex scene as a replacement to storytelling, it just never works since it adds virtually nothing to what’s happening. Especially right now when, like I said before, Rachel is starting to spiral the plot into chaos (I’m not being insulting by saying this it’s literally chaos it seems like all of the characters are in trouble) and introducing or welcoming back a lot of intriguing plot stories and characters that many people are excited to see. To make an odd and unnecessary shift to romance in the middle of absolute destruction is crazy, especially when none of it is earned. I’ve said this in my later rants but I’ll say it again because it’s true, the romance between Hades and Persephone has no stakes and it never will it seems since Rachel doesn’t even allow stuff like that to happen. Nothing about their romance keeps you straddled on for the ride or leaves you at the edge of your seat which is why so many people are bored with their dynamic if there even is one to begin with. Slow burns and other romances are all about the payoff that’s what everyone’s here to see, after chapters on chapters of wondering if their love will brave the dangers around them and between them we finally get our question solved with appropriate intimacy.

Lore Olympus as a whole rarely wants to develop actual relationships in real time, it only skips to “the good bits” while completely ignoring the fact that the entire bonding experience between your ships and your fans rely heavily on us actually witnessing their chemistry/bond and being shown why they should be together, not being told by forces outside of the relationship.

All in all the potential sex scene is just terrible timing on Rachel’s part and it should’ve been done while literally nothing was happening to avoid all of the backlash that it’s getting now.

“Persephone was never r*ped” is an incorrect statement

Yes, although r*pe in Ancient Greece was also used as a synonym of kidnapping, which was a common method to initiate marriages, many of the older tellings describe the “r*pe of Persephone” as violent.

It’s also implied by the culture of kidnapping wives, that women’s consent wasn’t prioritised.

That said, the one doing the “r*ping” is and always will be Hades, not the unrelated Apollo

(Also their marriage was not happy at all in the myths, it was functional, but not healthy)

I see, I’m not the most knowledgable in the myths so a lot of times I won’t confirm nor deny what those who are have to say about them but I will say that I have been seeing a lot of evidence of Persephone’s rape and the description really isn’t that of kidnapping it’s forceful and violent as you’ve said.

for some reason just read this week's wide release chapter, after not reading for a while, and when exactly did Thanatos become close enough with them all to be invited to the birthday party of Persephone?

It’s literally so we forget that Hades is an abusive parental figure to Thanatos and continued his abusive nature through his employment in his own corporation and to top it off had a incredibly victim blaming “apology” as well that he only came up with because of his own motivation to talk to Thanatos’ brother.

I still cannot forgive Rachel and the fans for just allowing that to slide. That entire episode was a slap in the face for me personally because I’ve had that exact same scenario happen to me where I was Thanatos in that situation and my own father was Hades, a child should never be held accountable for the behavior of their own parent that shouldn’t have ever been a concept that everyone thought was fit for Lore Olympus in the first place. If we’re calling anyone a fucked up parent Hades needs to be addressed up front before Hera.

Based on another comment send, Rachel also used SA as a backstory for Zeus, Rhea and Demeter.

Rhea used sex as a distraction so Kronos wouldn't devour their children. Zeus lied to Demeter in order for her to sleep with him. Zeus slept with Metis when he was a minor.

None of those things are explored to show how damaging SA is, it's just there for jokes(Metis) or cheap shock value (Demeter).

I’m really convinced that Rachel never really cared about the SA plot lines, no one who genuinely cares would take this little consideration with it and still not say anything to her borderline proshipper fans (not all btw just the hera x kronos shippers) if she genuinely cared. I’ve never seen someone make up things and openly brag about things they know they’ve never done. Lore Olympus is just a kink fantasy and that’s all, every deep or meaningful thing that’s been in the comics have all been accidental.

Rachel used the assault plot no once but TWICE to goddesses who were never a victim in the original myths!

Persephone was never r*ped neither did Hera. In some versions they say that because Zeus transformed into a bird to trick her and woo her it ended as an assault but most resources say it was consensual. After they got married they had 300 years of honeymoon! So no plotline of victims here. And IT'S NEVER mentioned she was r*ped by Kronos. That's something Rachel did for shock value.

And i am saying it as a Greek who studies the myths regularly and i am fascinated by my ancestors myths but please Rachel.... Stop having plots were ancient Greek women suffer for plot device it's also damaging to our culture. I am tired of these retellings saying that ancient Greek women were assaulted left and right with no happy life.

I see, I’m not going to say too much cause I’m not knowledgeable in Greek Mythology, I know the basics but the ones I do is just common myths everyone knows.

Besides that though you’re right about Rachel always changing what happens, it’s getting really ridiculous now because all mythology from literally any culture has a meaning. That’s what I think is Rachel’s main problem, she doesn’t acknowledge that the myths are not only just fun little stories you can obsess over in your high school social studies class it’s also explanations for our world. Myths are kind of like the layout of why things work the way they do and like I said before this can be found in any culture so Rachel taking the myth of Persephone and Hades and transforming it into some mafia boss wattpad story for a few shingles takes away all of the importance and meaning of the story in the first place and as someone who claims to love Greek Mythology so much she should have more respect for it than treat it like it’s some silly children’s book or gossip, it still to this day holds culture and importance to those belonging to the group or studying it and that should always be taken into consideration when making retellings.

Agree that shippers of kronos and hera are freaking disgusting, though im a little hesitant to lay the blame on rs. When i first read it, i recognized it for being awful and insidious abuse and thought it was framed surprisingly well. Webtoon readers are known for being shit balls at reading and media comprehension, so many other webtoons i read suffer from readers being way too obtuse and rooting for genuinely abusive characters that the creator always frames as toxic. (tho full disclosure i haven't read the fast pass episodes so this might have changed!!) while i also do wish rs might make it clearer that its abuse so these commentors would shut up, at the same time i think its sad creators would need to sacrifice more sublte, clever storytelling just so that certain sections of the fandom won't misunderstand.

I understand your point, the main reason why I included Rachel in that rant is because if she can make an authors note about Persephone not dying, she should be able to come out with at least a statement saying that you shouldn’t ship Hera with Kronos at all because half of those people are grown adults, they should absolutely know better.

Rachel never holds her fans accountable when they’re saying fucked up things in Rachel and Lore Olympus’ defense and she’s known for being active in various groups including Lore Olympus so she should have no problem making an announcement condemning stuff like that. The problem isn’t that her subtle writing wasn’t clear enough for her fans the problem is you have over 45 comments on your main page talking about how Hera’s SA wasn’t SA and victim blaming her for the trauma Kronos gave her and you’re not saying anything about it.

It’s even worse since like I’ve said there’s a lot of fans who relate to both Hera and Persephone with their traumas, having a fandom like that condoning disgusting stuff like that and dismissing coercion and SA is disingenuous and honestly made me lose even more respect for her. I’m not asking her to stand up for her fans as an anti I’m asking her to stand up for them as a decent person, it’s the bare minimum to make a statement and of course if the fandom doesn’t listen I won’t talk anymore about it since she’s one person but she hasn’t said anything and that’s the problem.
