“Ahhh. Ex? I’m not to sure about that…maybe? I don’t think we ever officially got together…” He murmured as he thought, folding his hands behind his back as his eyes trailed up to the sky. “Mm. You have no need to worry. I believe I found myself in a similar  position when she ran off to another region while we were spending time together….Without saying a word.” He would shrug his shoulders.

“However, that’s the past. Best to look forward to the future. I hold no ill will against Ivy, I just hope she’s happy wherever she may be and where she is in her life right now.” He gave the other a warm smile and a chuckle at the Spinda, holding his hand out to the Normal type. 

“Ah, you’re a curious one aren’t you…?”

Well, Winter was pretty lost. This guy didn’t really seem like the type Ivy would be into but then again, he really didn’t know the chick very well. Maybe he would give her a call later, just to see where she was and what she was up to... if she even bothered to answer. 

“Welp, I guess I’m not getting laid tonight,” he murmured as Pinda tugged on the other man’s finger. “Backup plan: go to a bar,” he stated, turning away before having a second thought. “Do you drink? On me, for having to deal with crazy,” he mused.

Winter furrowed his brows as the other placed the nearly wrapped package by the door. It seemed as though he already knew that the mother wasn’t home, so Winter didn’t bother mentioning it. Perhaps he overheard his conversation with Kiyoteru.

“Uh,” he extended his hand to me Jeri’s shake and blinked. He had a title? Sounded pretty official. This was definitely not his ideal way to be meeting somebody, though. Yknow. On the grounds that they both probably had fucked the girl.

He cleared his throat. “I’m winter. What… Did you do to piss Ivy off and am I going to face the same wrath as you?” He didn’t know what he did, but the white haired guy seemed to be pretty confident about her throwing things at him and if they were in the same boat as he had said, Winter was pretty sure he’d been doomed.

May be time to cross this one off the list.

The white haired man let out a mild chuckle as he shook the other’s hand at his question, “Winter huh? Alright, I’ll keep that in mind..” He trailed off, pausing in thought as he retracted his hand, tapping his chin.

“Ah, now what was it that I did…mmm I can’t say I remember at the moment honestly, though if anything, being younger and stupid was probably part of it~” He didn’t seemed bothered by it at all! No fear from this man!

“I just stop by to see Asuna now honestly. After all, she’s nearly a mother to me.” He probably could never repay the kindness Asuna showed him in his life time. Jericho stuffed his hands into his coat pockets, “Ah, but tell me, what did you do to draw her ire?”

The man looked concerned, bringing his Spinda closer to his chest. "Man, I don't know. I didn't even know she was pissed at me! I knew the chick was fiesty, but..." he trailed off. "I guess she just up and went to Unova. It's not like we were dating or anything-- wait. Are you her ex?" She has mentioned one in the past, but he was pretty sure the guy was older. This guy, though, seemed to have a deeper rooted history with the girl than Winter ever had. The two had met at a bar a while ago and hit it off. It had become a bi weekly thing for the two to get together, drink, and then go to a hotel. But she was always flaky, and distant, and he was always busy with battles, and his league challenge, the two just kind of lost contact. He wouldn't have guessed she'd left the region entirely, but then again it seemed like a very Ivy thing to do.

"As far as I know she wasn't dating anyone when I was seeing her but if I was... Like. The other dude, I didn't mean it! Honest!" Pinda whined. She was getting bored ! She wanted to walk around and sniff this strange person. Stubby arms reached out to the newbie as she wailed. "Hey! Quit it, Pinda," Winter scolded, embarased.

It had been a while since he had been to Lilycove, but since the trainer was in the area he thought he’d stop by the house of an old “friend.” Pinda squirmed around in his arms as he walked up the pathway marked “Rei Residence” and took a breath before ringing the bell. Would Asuna remember him? He had only been over a few times. Besides that, the two would normally go to a hotel…

The door creaked open and instead of the curly haired redhead he expected to answer, it was Kiyoteru. Winter froze. Pun not intended. “U-Um, Rei, sir, Rei-san! Sir. Ahem. Is um, is your daughter home?”

Kiyo furrowed his brows. Why did this girl always have men coming over to the house? Did she have ANY girl friends? He sighed and shook his head. “She lives in Unova now, actually.”

“Unova?!”

He nodded. “She’s going to University there. Did you need something? I’ll let her know you stopped by. My wife is out, but–”

“No, it’s fine,” he interrupted. Pinda was getting fussy now. “Thank you though. I hope she’s doing well. No need to mention me. I’m sorry for bothering you, sir.” A wave and he turned, hearing the door shut behind him; however, now he was standing face to face with a white haired man who looked rather perplexed. 

Winter blinked, unsure of what to do. This was awkward. “Um… Ivy isn’t home, if that’s why you’re here…” he trailed off. Was it why he was there? DID THEY HAVE THE SAME IDEA? I’m a scumbag, he thought, the scumiest of scum. Would this dude sense his scumbaggery? Was he ALSO a scumbag?

And how much of a whore was Ivy, Arceus damn.

“That’s all too fine, if anything she’d probably start throwing stuff at me…” The white haired man, waved his hand to clam the other, smiling as has gaze turned to the door, “Honestly, I’m just here to drop something off to Asuna, a little errand she had me run is all.”

He could sense the other’s aura, it gave off a rather nervous feel if he could put any words to it. It caused him to chuckle.

“You have no need to be to tense around me. I knew Ivy before, though to her I’m going to guess me and you are in the same boat of company she doesn’t want around anymore.” It kind of hurt to say that, but none the less it was true. 

Jericho would place a small package at the door before turning back to the other. 

“Jericho Fawkes. Seeker of Myths and Legends. It’s nice to meet you!”

“That’s so cool. I never took on a league, Tinny and I are definitely teachers, not fighters,” Tanja stepped away from the cart to grab a few things as well. The cart was quickly filling as they marked each item off the list, “Thank you, again, for helping me. Let me make you and Pinda dinner tonight, as a proper thank you!”

Winter grinned, ruffling the fur on the pokemon’s head after receiving the invite. “Y’see that buddy? You get all the ladies,” the trainer mused, letting out a light laugh as he pushed the cart for her, which was now getting rather heavy. Were they almost done? He hoped they were almost done. Some of the other customers seemed to be giving them weird looks with their cart full to the brim. Ah, let em stare, Winter thought.

“Anyways, that sounds nice--I hate to impose though.”

“W-well, it takes a few trips, but we handle it,” she admitted sheepishly. Truth was, Tanja had never considered asking for more than just her Pokémon’s help. She’d felt like she delegated so much work to others at the facility, the least she could do was pick up the 100+ lbs of groceries, fill, file, and notorize the adoption papers, fill and file recruit papers, orders new vests, lead the vesting ceremony…

Okay, maybe she needed to delegate more. Or just hire more help, the money from Furuka’s company had certain been helpful so far.

“S-so, Winter,” she desperately wanted to change subjects, “Are you a League trainer?”

“Yep!” he replied, leaning over her shoulder to read the list in her hands before grabbing a few things off the shelf. “We’ve beat the Kanto league--thought I’d try my luck in Hoenn.”

Pinda squeaked when he leaned in, batting as his face and then watching him pace a few of the needed items into the cart. 

“It’s taking a bit longer than I expected, but... well, we’re easily distracted,” he added with  laugh.

“Let’s see, I definitely need several pounds of fruits and veggies, and a few 25lb bags of chow….. 10 boxes of Pokepuffs…” she rattled off her extensive list as she pushed the cart with her elbows, to keep her hands free to play with Pinda, “Oh, Tinny? She was the fluffiest little Vulpix and an absolute sweetie. Guess she’s still capable of being a sweetie if Puffs are involved.”

Tinny ignored Tanja, pulling a bag a potatoes over to the cart. Tanja looked away from Pinda for a moment to see Winter looking up at the aisle signs. He had a nice profile, actually, a pretty nice face over all. A goofy smile stretched across her face and she quickly looked back at Pinda.

“And... you were going to carry all of this by yourself?” he murmured, wide eyed as she read off the list and he followed the two girls down the aisles. Man, it was a good thing he came along, what would they have done otherwise? How often did they do this sort of thing? At least bring a wagon! he thought. 

The spinda reached out and tried to grab all of the items on the shelf as they passed them, squirming curiously at all the colorful boxes of food. 

“Man, girls are crazy!” he joked, rubbing the back of his head and scanning the shelves for whatever she had just read off the list. Though, it was so much stuff he couldn’t even remember one thing... he sure wasn’t cut out for this grocery shopping thing. That’s why he just made instant ramen, ordered in or went out for dinner. So much easier that way!

“A whole lot,” Tanja said, tickling Pinda’s chin, “It’s taken years for us to build the facility and its programs up like we have.”

Tinny rolled her eyes, but smiled as she walked ahead. Tanja had been so focused on work lately that she was stressing herself out. A little, normal human interaction was good. She was amused to see how easily her trainer was getting along with this human. Tanja giggled, amused at the idea of the Spinda sitting in the cart. As soon as Winter returned with it, she set Pinda down in the cart and played with her paws, singing along with her.

“I remember when Tinny was this size,” she mused, “She was such a bundle of energy as a Vulpix. It took years to train her and it didn’t even really stick until she evolved.”

“I definitely have to check it out then! I can’t wait,” he replied. This girl was kind of cute, he thought as he watched her fawn over his companion pokemon. But, hm, she was probably pretty busy with this job of her--sounded like a lot of work.

“I bet she was really cute and fluffy. Weren’t ya?” he asked, turning toward the ninetales who seemed to be eager to finish the errands and head back by the way she was walking ahead of the two. “Pokemon sure are different once they evolve, though, you’re right,” he added, following Tinny. “Even their personalities. It’s a little shocking for a first time trainer, I remember.” A laugh, and he was reading the signs above the aisles. “So, what d’you need to get?”

Tanja squeaked excitedly, reaching out to take the Pokemon. So soft! She cradled Pinda, cooing and stroking her fur, “Oh my goodness!”

“Ah.. right. Well, while a lot of our Service Pokemon are, surprisingly, fire-types, it’s hard to train our hearing kitties outside if it’s cold,” she explained, “Outdoor training is a very important section of the program and if even one Skitty doesn’t like snow in her paws, all the other rally behind them. Mob mentality. We still get in some cold weather training, but it’s easier to do if it’s not cold most of the year.”

Winter chuckled as he handed his pokemon off to the other. “That makes sense... wow, there’s a lot that goes into it, huh?” 

Pinda squeaked and grabbed at Tanja hands playfully. “Spii! Spiiiii~” she sang. She loved meeting new people, especially girls. Winter was great and all, but something about girls made the spinda really excited!

Upon arriving at the mart, Winter held the door open for two seeing as Tanja’s hands were full of cuteness. “I’ll grab a cart!” he exclaimed, running off but quickly returning. “You could put Pinda in it too, like a baby,” he laughed.

Tanja felt her cheeks blush a bit. She’d never been given a nickname before, how fun! Tinny stood and shook, walking ahead of the two. The trainer followed, giving the Spinda another smile.

“She’s terribly cute,” she said, “The wobbly nature of Spinda’s makes them more difficult than most to train in service handling. So, I don’t get to see many, if any. It’s nice to meet you, Winter… I think your name’s lovely, hehe. Winter’s my favorite season, honestly.”

“You think so? Hear that, Pinda? She thinks you’re cuuute.”

The spinda sloppily spun around to face the two humans and wobbled to straighten up, smiling. “Pii!” it exclaimed and Winter let out a laugh, scooping the pokemon up into his arms. “You wanna hold her?” he asked, walking along beside Tanja as Tinny led the way. “Oh and, if Winter is your favorite season-- why you living in Hoenn? It’s hot here... always. Way too hot.”

Tanja puffed her cheeks a little, “I mean, yeah, but we usually make it just fine.”

Tinny snorted from where she lay on the ground. Yeah, they make it just fine if you consider whining and dropping no less than two bags every trip ‘just fine’. Tanja blushed and twirled a strand of hair between her fingers, “Well, I wouldn’t turn down some help…”

“My name’s Tanja and this is Tinny, she’s both one of my team Pokemon and a teacher at the facility.”

“TNT, got it!” he teased, grinning between the two. “I’m Winter. Like, the season... literally. Can you tell my parents aren’t that creative? Oh well,” he shrugged, turning on his heel to face the direction of the mart in town rather than the direction Tanja had pointed toward her facility. “Pinda here won’t be much help, she can hardly even walk on her own, but I have other pokemon who can help too if it gets to be too much!”

”She is and it is…,” Tinny graciously accepted the puff and the pats before laying flat on the ground to tear the puff apart and eat the pieces. What a weird Pokemon. Tanja smiled at the tiny bear in his arms, she’d never worked with a Spinda before.

“An association, actually,” Tanja proudly stated, “I run the Hoenn Region Service Pokemon Association. We train service Pokemon for our friends that need a little extra help in their daily life. Our facility is just up the road, Tinny and I were just on break to get groceries for the cafeteria.”

“Hah! Wow, you must say that a lot in a day, it was almost automatic, like you didn’t even have to think about it,” Winter replied, getting back up on his toes to try and see down the road, but it was too far off in the distance. “I haven’t heard of places like that before. I’ve heard of service pokemon but I never really thought about where they came from!”

He paused, placing the spinda back down on the floor and watching it teeter over to the fox curiously. “Just you two getting groceries?” he asked, looking the girl over before shaking his head and murmuring to himself. “You probably have to carry a lot right? To feed everyone? Let me help you out, I can’t imagine just you and Ninetales carrying all that on your own.”

“I.. I suppose one couldn’t hurt,” she looked down at Tinny, who was sitting very calmly at the man’s feet. What was up with her today? The usual cool, aloof Pokemon was being incredibly friendly. The Ninetales whined sweetly, wiggling her tails at the sight of the Puffs.

“Tinny… I’m really sorry about her, she’s usually not at all like this.” Tanja pursed her lips, “She must be going into heat. Oop, didn’t mean to say that out loud, haha!”

“Sounds like a handful,” he replied as he leaned down to give the pokemon a treat and pat it on the head. “There ya go... Man, you’re pretty, aren’t you?”

The spinda in his arms seemed jealous as it whined and squirmed, reaching out to try and grab a pokepuff of it’s own. 

“Oh you,” he grumbled, handing the panda a treat as well. “But anyway, it’s not a problem! Hey, are you guys part of some club or something? What’s up with the vest? It’s spiffy, don’t get me wrong,” he added with a laugh as he got to his feet.

“Hah! Tinny, no!” Tanja shouted, chasing after a Ninetales in a purple vest. The fox came up to a young man and immediately began snuffling and sticking her nose in the back of his knees, “No! Oh! I’m so sorry!”

His immediate reaction was to lift up the spinda at his feet, cradling in it in his arms before he smiled down at the new pokemon sniffing him all over. “Heh! Hey there, wassup fella?” he asked, standing on his toes and looking over his shoulder at the ninetales behind him. He let it sniff him with a laugh and then straightened up to see who he assumed to be it’s owner running towards them. 

‘No worries,” he replied, “I guess I smell good! Not really sure why though...”

Oh!

“Maybe these?” he asked, reaching in to his bag and pulling out a few pokepuffs. “I forgot, just picked ‘em up at the store before. You want one?” He turned toward the ninetales and then back up at the girl. “Are they allowed to have one?”
