And not only that, but Helen was being really insulting about the Iron Man suits (literally a part of Tony), which were basically the front-line of mechanical and technological advancements. And Tony still smiled and agreed with her that her own work making his obsolete was the entire point.

Regarding the part about Helen Cho: the thing about Tony is that his existing status completely took him out of the masculine posturing so common in tech fields – people were either going to idolize him for his work or dismiss him for his wealth/legacy as Howard’s son, and nothing about his behavior was ever gonna change that.
So in that way, he’s able to approach The Work in a more pure way than most cishet dudes. And from that perspective, he understands two things:
1) Diversity improves engineering. Always. The more points of view and experiences and backgrounds you have looking at a problem, the more possibilities you’ll see and errors you’ll avoid. See: Apple’s Health program launching without a period tracker, touchless soap dispensers and sinks that don’t register dark skin.
2) Engineering is a fucking sausage party that needs more chicks stat. Pretty sure Maya Hansen could have been shaped like me and wearing a potato sack and he’d still have been down.
