Man, major writer's block and wavering hyperfixations is absolutely DEMOLISHING any chance of my Zarck fic coming out before Solars finishes the story for me... I thought I could bust out a 100k+ story in my 3 month break and instead I procrastinated it all away 🫠🫠
I'm still gonna write it eventually though!! Writing is what I do! I love Solars far too much to give up now!
Maybe I'll label it as a "fix it" fic if things go sideways in canon which I don't like (but I'm pretty sure Solars won't mess this up bc every season has been absolute gold to me), or maybe I'll make an alternate universe where things go differently !! I'm sure someone would still appreciate my work, and to me that makes it worth it to continue.
Either way, writing is still a passion of mine no matter how hard it gets... I will probably continue to write about Solars for a while, especially once the hyperfixation returns for this season. I can't bear to let the alien family go mann 😭😭😭
Anyway, here's to the Solar Opposite's final season, and hopefully going out with an absolute bang! (And may we writers overcome writer's block in time for the finale so we can channel our sorrows into stories for all to enjoy) 🥂🩷

I need an episode where they get stuck in a musical-verse and the only way out is to sing ... Or the singing is compulsive and they can't stop unless some kind of curse is broken ... Hi y'all! Small update for my fic which will eventually be put up on AO3...
I'm almost finished with the plot outline!
And I've started writing the actual thing... Here's the first couple paragraphs as a taster:
Prologue (status: incomplete)
The Commander was sick of waiting and watching in silence.
Waiting on a solitary distant planet for upwards of five entire years, devoid of any other kind of social contact, had started to take its toll. Zarck had to give them at least a little bit of credit, as it took them years for that distress beacon to be activated, spewing out their signal to anyone who would listen and come to their aid. It definitely outlasted his prediction that his wayward team would barely last a year by themselves without getting killed, or even worse, tainting the Pupa’s evolution so severely that their mission would culminate in utter failure.
But he certainly hadn't expected the team to last that long. Yes, under the right care and proper attention, the Pupa should have only needed a year or two to mature and see the terraforming cycle to completion, but seeing as they hadn't wrecked it up in maybe six years he couldn't help but be intrigued by their pure dumb luck. That Korvo he had left "in charge" was truly never meant to be leader, Zarck often mused to pass the time, and if anything this utter failure even after so many years of denial (for surely it hadn't taken them all that time for the mission to fall apart, those stubborn, pigheaded adults must have put off sounding the alarm for a while), proved that Zarck had been exactly where he needed to be:
in control.
The first two years of waiting had been his most difficult. He had waited, at first eagerly, to detect that distress beacon within the first six months, knowing very well the group did not have the skillset to take care of the Pupa without him- he hated being put with the most clumsy, naive set of Shlorpians on the homeworld to work alongside, but there was no fighting those who had made the decision to pair the team in such a way. After the first few years, counted with pebbles, sticks and scratch marks littered all over his tiny escape pod, he had begun to assume the team had already perished, none of them around to even sound the alarm, but he paid those dark possibilities no heed. After all, it was merely a What-If situation. No matter what, with the right quantum entanglement technology, this make-believe reality would cease to exist upon the press of a button, and everything would be restored to how it was supposed to be. No questions. No arguments.
Korvo’s reckless stupidity would prove his inability to be team leader, and he would surrender the position instantly back to Zarck as soon as he realised it was not all that easy as it was made out to be by their Commander.
Oh, how he longed to see the look on that idiot's face.

Y'all since my final exams are over in just about a week (and maybe cause Halloween's right around the corner) I've decided to throw together a low rent Korvo fit HAHAHA
Dollar store robe? Check! Plastic green shoe diamonds and robe pin? Check! (I had also sourced a novelty pin from Etsy for casual wear, the seller was amazing- highly recommend) Blue hair dye? Sadly not in time for Halloween but hell yeah for later-

I hope you Solars fans like angst in your fanfiction cause I've been planning some of the the Zarck fic and oh BOY-
You see, in order for the turn of events and plot to make sense (I like having things logical so it feels real), I've decided to do a little bit of theorising as to backstories / random bits of lore to utilise to make Zarck's characterisation deeper and hence revenge plot extra juicy. And while I'm not exactly gonna write any sort of redemption arc for the guy (he's gonna be an asshat and we all know it), the plans I've got for both him and the Solars too are actually TRAGIC so if the fic comes out even half as good as what I've got so far I'm gonna be bawling-

Y'all I might start planning a fanfiction revolving around Zarck returning and trying to hijack and retake control of the mission whether the Solars like it or not. And, after five/six years of solitary confinement, Zarck's definitely not going to play nice, meaning the Solars are all, essentially, in danger at every twist and turn.
If you guys like the sound of that, I might attempt to write it as a semi-long(?) story, maybe 30k+ words over my Christmas break >:] it would be an angst/action type thing that may or may not explore why on Planet Shlorp the Solars have an extra team member, along with the obligatory hurt/comfort and Tervo as well...

This is WinterBean (AO3 Writer) here. Just wanted to share with you guys that a new fic of mine will be showing up very soon hehehe... It's in the editing stage atm, but yes it has been sorta finished as a draft right now, sitting in between my first two fics in length (~12k+, although I'll have to change that depending on how long it gets after editing).
This focuses on Yumyulack and Korvo's relationship Post S5 Finale!
Here's a little summary of the story (S5 spoilers ahead!)
NAME: Papa Korvo
Potential Tags: Hurt, Angst with a Happy Ending, Fluff, One chapter is a bit of a whump, yes this is focused on Yumyulack and Korvo, Post S5 Finale, ~ Daddy Issues ~, Yet another excuse to hurt my favourite character, Taco Bell Parking Lot Fight Scene, Bad Communication, injuries and overprotective father moments, could be OOC but I can't tell by myself, etc etc...
Summary: Yumyulack and Korvo struggle with working through their issues as a family, and things end up going a little bit awry. After all, Yumyulack calling Korvo 'Papa' seems to have some lasting effects. In the end, Korvo just wants to be a father, and Yumyulack secretly wants to have a father, yet they simply cannot get over themselves and admit they do really see each other as family.
But when things begin to go wrong, Yumyulack's desire for a father figure becomes more of a need as some fights are just a bit too hard to handle all by oneself...
