yesterday was the one day i got kinda somber in the evening and it was the day i took off from going over to the other house and mowing the lawn or walking the dog . this is good because i can use this data to force myself to go out more

okay steven is lowkey me as a teenager where like the most horrible shit could happen and i barely cared but id be like in the depths of despair about some stupid interpersonal shit that i didnt really want to talk about

hopefully the crystal gems get tied into the overarhcing conflict once this homeworld plot is over i want to see them agian

#sorry. literally pendulum between glazing the show and getting annoyed #i had a lot of strong opinions about this when i was likw 15 okay ......................#i like steven enough at this point to go along with things because its him but i still mostly like the crystal gems #youd think i would want more gems even as supporting characters but the designs feel kind of incoherent #like they dont match the prior design philosophy but they dont really suggest anything by their deviation from it either #they just kind of feel disconnected . which adds to the feeling that homeworld is kinda halfbaked and was always just meant to be #an abstract threat on the horizon #and i guess pulling punches wrt evoking real life stuff (in terms of warlike empires and like authoritarian governments that dehumanize its #workers and has strong class stratification) feells a bit inconsistent with how 'mature' the show often is <- i keep seeing other people #call it that not my words #maybe its just me being a freak wanting gritty realism all i can say thats for one reason or another what i expected back then #something needs to be done...#anyway.. i had 2 moldy apples... will try to finish the season tonight lol #then i have the movie and future

#ii dooooont think we get very many more glimpses of it #you know what were really missing. like. crowd shots #we had a big group of different amethysts which was good #but for example we hear that any higher ranking gem may have a pearl assistant but we only see one corresponding to each diamond #we oculd see them doing more like menial tasks like on their daily grind on the planet #also the gems mention missing it what did they miss about it

LOL I THOUGHT THE TRIAL SETUP WAS LIKE A CLEVER WAY TO FINALLY REVEAL THAT ROSE QUARTZ IS PINK DIAMOND BUT THE DEFENSE ATTORNEY HAD THE WRONG THEORY :sob:

#genuinely tickled me #saw a post earlier about how a lot of the episodes have kind of like a fake resolution that reads as a satisfying conclusion #but isnt quite it #so i guess thats how they keep the cartoon feel while keeping a lot of mysteries and grey areas #i mean... that is probably a pretty standard writing trick but its one i havent really internalized #so im taking note
