      ▲ Worry immediately washes over the features of the monarch as the other runs towards her urgently, soon taking a small break in order to catch her breath. It is instantly and without hesitation that the sage rushes to her side, placing a gloved hand on the other girl’s back in order to offer her reassurance and support should it be needed. While she is glad to see her distant family member in good health, Zelda is also immediately thrown into thoughts of concern for the other and how long she has since had to endure the new events of the city.

     ‘ I must protect her. I must make sure she stays safe…’

      ❝ … Princess, ❞ she addresses her formally, softening her features as she looks at her now. Calling her by name is not an allowance she has been audibly given, nor is it one the blonde feels comfortable in doing so, if only because of her own humble nature. 

      ❝ I am not entirely sure, but… The city has become a place of ruins. What is more, there are some monsters running amok within the rubble of the ruined city, so what you have heard is unfortunately true, ❞ she addresses the worries of the other princess with a hardened expression now, thinking for a moment before adding:

      ❝ Princess… Are you able to fight? I only have a knife with me currently, but I am well versed in the art of combat. If possible I… Would like it if you stayed by my side, ❞ she couldn’t imagine any harm coming to her or rather, she couldn’t bare the thought.

Zelda was worried she would say that. She had been secretly hoping that the other royal would deny the rumors that had been flying around. Panic struck when the descendant realized what she heard was all true. Oh goddesses, what on earth was happening?

It was then that her predecessor asked if she could fight. Zelda was honestly going to have a rain check on that one. Not only did she not have a weapon, she had left the only thing that could even be used for self-defense at her house. Honestly, a toy bow and arrow set probably wasn’t going to do the trick against these monsters anyway.

❝I’m afraid not...❞ she states, a bit guiltily. She couldn’t fight for herself right now, but she honestly wished she could. She hoped she wasn’t being a bother.   ❝I don’t have much to defend myself with, and the only thing I do have... I foolishly left it at home. I’m rather frightened, to be honest.❞ 

Well, at least she was with her other self. Hopefully she would be safer here. Her ears perked a bit when the other princess spoke again.  ❝Y-You mean it, you want me to stay with you? Oh, thank you! I’m so glad to have company.❞

A familiar face in this uncertain time was ALWAYS appreciated. The poor princess was uncertain, and afraid. She was afraid of the monster attacks. Those poor people, hopefully they were fairing well. Zelda herself was uneasy - what if she couldn’t defend herself? She didn’t really want to be burden to anyone.

❝Link! Oh thank goodness you’re here. I was super worried about you!❞

Relief is immediate on her face. Thanking every single Goddess she was aware of, the princess feels more relaxed in her hero’s presence. Even if the city was crawling with unnameable monsters... She would be okay, would she? How could she not be? Link was right there besides her.  ❝Link, are you alright? I’ve heard the city’s being overrun with terrible beasts. Have you encountered one? I’ve heard they’re invisible...❞

The princess looks right into Link’s eyes, as if to say “Please be honest with me, Link. You can tell me anything”.

Link could not see the monster, but he had heard a woman’s voice before anything. And, he could not simply ignore someone in danger- there was no hesitation within him as he ran towards the source of the voice, eyes scanning for the beast. Yet again, it seemed to be invisible- but that would not stop him from interfering, leaping at where he believed it to be with a sword he’d picked up from the ground of his city.

“Hide! These beasts do not seem to play fair!”

And fair it clearly didn’t, considering he could feel the thing before he could see it, braced for a hit from an unknowable adversary. Truly, this was not a fair fight- but he didn’t need to win. He merely needed to protect the woman, at which point he’d figure out how to get out of the situation he’d just thrown himself into.

Aware of a yelling, the princess turns around mid-step. A man wielding a sword seemed to be whacking thin air. Or was that the monster? Hands made into fists were both placed over her chest, anxiety building over the fear that had settled in her heart. “These beasts do not seem to play fair”. Would the monsters extract their revenge for him getting in the way?

❝S-Sir, I plead... Be careful! You mustn't be too reckless!❞ If she had more of her powers, she would most obviously be helping out this man who was willing to help her out. But, in her current state, she was defenseless. Guilt. She wished there was more she could do for this kind stranger.

However, she had been told to hide. Why on earth would she stay? There, as much as she refused to accept it, was nothing she could do. Trusting in Link’s ability, the princess backs away, taking tentative steps backwards.

❝Don’t endanger yourself too much for my sake, kind stranger! You must stay strong!❞ She calls back, despite her better judgement. She was acting on pure emotion here, rather than her usual logistics.

❝Oh, thank the Goddesses!❞  In the age of chaos, Zelda had found someone whom she could trust: herself. Would her other self have any idea on what was happening in this city? She had heard, in passing conversation, that monsters were out and about and attacking people? She heard the little beasts were invisible.

But... If that was the case... how could see the little thing? Was she simply loosing her mind? Were the noises it was making tipping her off that something had been chasing her? The blonde-haired royal, breath coming in short gasps, approached the other Zelda. Her hands were on her knees as she bent over for a moment. Once she had recovered, she straightened up and her worried expression was in full view for the other princess to see.

❝I’m so relived to run into you! Have you any idea what’s happening?❞ Hands clasped together, as if in prayer, the princess continues her ramblings.  ❝I’ve heard in passing conversation that monsters are out and causing trouble! Goddesses above, it’s not true, is it?❞

What was that?! Why was it chasing her? Running through Spirale’s streets, the princess glances a couple of looks over her shoulder. That monster, by the Goddesses, was still after her. Zelda honestly hadn’t a clue WHY. It’s not like she had intentionally sought it out and picked a fight - that’s something Link would do for her safety.

❝Leave me alone!❞ Shouting back at the monster, it merely gives no heed and continues to advance. It was a bad idea to leave her toy bow and arrow set in her housing. She had ASSUMED nothing would go wrong.

Zelda’s gasps came in short breaths, tired from running. Where had her holy power gone? The one that she used to seal Calamity Ganon away for hopefully the last time? Where was that when she really needed it?

❝Stop! Quit it!❞ Could it not understand her language? Figures. Zelda, by nature, leaned more on the pacifistic side. She could fight, and she had for one hundred years. Maybe that’s why she was not looking to pick a fight. It didn’t look like anything Link may have encountered on his journey to destroy the calamity - but it wasn’t like she could get accurate data on it. Link held the Sheikah Slate. And even then, it probably didn’t have records for these creatures.

“What is a ‘video game’?”

In all seriousness, she probably would be a more… causal gamer, if Hyrule had video games. Zelda’s already too focused on her kingdom and her studies, but maybe in a modern AU if she saw Link play a game over her shoulder, she may become interested and ask to watch.

She’d be really interested in the game mechanics, how the game works, because, science:tm:. If the game had a good story, she would probably be more into it as well. If the game involved violence, she probably wouldn’t be up on that. Y’know, the whole Calamity Ganon thing.

Zelda would be drawn to character as well. If a character is written well, and someone she could relate to, she may end up playing the game and or joining the game’s fandom simply because of that one character existing ( kinda like the mun actually -).

TDLR; not really, but she wouldn’t shy away from video games if hyrule had them, or in a modern verse and link was pestering her to play. also the game has to be good. good in design, plot, mechanics, and characters. she’s kinda picky about this stuff.

Following the sciences is where she excels the absolute best! Zelda is a scholar by heart, and everything she does seems to gravitate to the betterment of knowledge. She spent all that time trying to make the gaurdians work for the sake of Hyrule, but her passion still drives - even now, 100 years after the calamity ganon incident.

She is a learner, and enjoys reading and natural observation. One of her favorite pastimes is to chill in Hyrule field and simply admire nature. One of her biggest fears through the century she spent in stasis, besides Link and her kingdom, was if Ganon and the messed up gaurdians did a big whooper on Hyrule’s ecosystem.

Save the trees. Read those books. Get smart. Zelda’s philosophy.
