Okay, but Mycroft and Lestrade meet when Greg gets Sherlock to hospital at their first meeting. But what if they end up married before Greg ever gets to his DI position, so when Mycroft shows up all proper and brolli-ed and Greg’s husband, Mr. Lestrade, they just think Greg married a poncy sort who is actually fucking hilarious once you get to know him? And happily provides high-quality junk food to the squad? 

And then, when Sherlock “dies,” a few people spot Greg and Mycroft in the crowd at the clearly televised funeral and someone googles Mycroft and OH SHIT. OH GOD. OH SHIT.
