The Rabbit of Baskerville
@bluebellofbakerstreet
This blog is dedicated to BBC Sherlock and all other forms of Sherlocky goodness, with a side order of whatever else catches my attention. Apparently I am dealing with my midlife crisis by becoming a Tumblr fangirl.
Hi. I'm a Japanese fic writer, and I've finally decided to bring my BBC Sherlock / Johnlock stories into English.
Nagori (名残) is a Japanese word for what a thing leaves behind once it's gone — the warmth still in a room after someone has left it, the sea still on the sand after the wave has drawn back. Not the memory of a thing. The trace of it, still here.
There are six of these stories, written over the years in Japanese. I'm now translating, revising, and letting them loose in English for the first time — a few are already up, the rest are on their way.
Two of them sit just before The Sign of Three:
Last Waltz, Reverse Turn.
Three days before John's wedding, Sherlock teaches him to waltz. It is supposed to be their last lesson.
Land's End
The morning after, Sherlock puts John in a car and drives west. Neither of them quite knows what they're running towards — or away from.
The others pick up after that hug at the end of The Lying Detective, and go somewhere I needed them to go.
Apparently this is what I'm doing with my life now.

Summary:
Somebody is systematically killing veterans in London. Sherlock is on the case, but he’s definitely not worried. John will be fine. Even if he doesn’t seem fine.
Set in 2010, sometime between TGG and aSiB but firmly in the vibe of Season 1.
John is a soldier, following Mycroft’s orders. He knows how to separate his feelings from his work. It’s convenient he’s a doctor too, but that isn’t why he was hired. He has an assignment: find the mole. When that’s done, he’ll move out. Staying was never a possibility.
Never trust your heart to a soldier.
The next time Sherlock uses his wealth on his boyfriend, it's much less public. He paid attention to John's discomfort at dinner, or tried, and went for a more comfortable mood this time.
So, tonight, after John is home from work and they're done with dinner but haven't quite decided what they want to do for the evening, Sherlock smiles and disappears into his room. When he reappears a moment later with a somewhat shallow box, he places it on John's lap on the couch and kisses the top of his head.
"What's this?"
"For you, John."
John smiles, wondering what Sherlock has in store this time, and turns his attention down to his gift. Even the box seems luxuriously made, which scares him about what could be inside. Still, he lifts the cover very gently and pulls back the single layer of paper inside to find a jumper, folded neatly.
"Oh."
The word is soft, surprised. Warm.
John reaches forward and strokes the fabric, finding it to be softer than anything he's felt before. The stitches are fine and perfect.
"Sherlock..."
The words don't come immediately. He looks inside the jumper's collar, finding the words "Made in Italy, 100% Cashmere" on the small black tag hand sewn into the fabric. God, this must have cost a fortune.
John takes the jumper by the shoulders and pulls it delicately from the box to look at the color-- a rich and unique (to his wardrobe) teal for the top third, then a mixture of teal and grey in a sort of heathered pattern, and grey for the bottom third.
"Sherlock, I love it. Thank you so much."
John beams at him, a shock of sunshine aimed directly at Sherlock and it's arresting in the most wonderful way.
Sherlock blinks, having to take a moment to compose himself as well, before grinning back at him.
"Of course. Anything for my John."
Their shared gaze becomes sweet and loving. John leans over and presses a grateful kiss to his upturned lips.
"I don't want to know how much this costs, do I?" John can't help himself from asking.
"I would be happy to tell you, but no, you don't. Besides--"
Sherlock's eyes shine in the lamp light, a bit mischievous.
"There's rules against asking the price of a gift anyway, isn't there? It's rude."
John rolls his eyes and chuckles. Sherlock found a social loophole and exploited it, perfectly his style.
"Yeah, okay, you got me. Rude John Watson."
Sherlock looks at the jumper in his hands, obviously pleased.
"Stylish, rude John Watson," he corrects. "Would you like to try it on?"
John does, and couldn't be happier at the suggestion. Thankfully it's a bit chilly in the flat, so John very carefully pulls the jumper on over his button-up and looks at it while smoothing it over his chest and abdomen.
"It's like being hugged by a cloud," he remarks softly, in awe of the extravagant material. His fingers wrap around the edges of the cuff and he rubs it almost compulsively, petting it.
Sherlock smiles again and nods his approval at the perfect fit, pulling John close to his side and reaching for the telly remote with the opposite hand. He gives it to John and kisses his forehead while they settle together.
"Good for a night in?" He asks.
John nestles his cheek against Sherlock's shoulder in a rare couch cuddle, smiling to himself and soaking in the softness of both the jumper and being in his boyfriend's arms.
The glass display case glinted under the somewhat harsh lighting of the little bakery, showing off the day’s offerings to the steady stream of happy customers. It was a little french spot tucked away in a Hitchin side street, where they’d gone for a snack now that their case —a string of clergymen murders— was finally solved.
John thought Sherlock would be pleased; the man had an incorrigible sweet tooth, after all, and he’d starved himself as usual over the last three days. He sat across from the detective now, observing the almost withering look he was giving his own half-eaten selection —a glossy, berry-topped tart with glistening sweet cream— and wondered if he’d made a grand error. “Do you not like it?” He asked.
“That’s not the right question,” Sherlock considered aloud. “The pastry’s too thick,” he tapped the edge of his fork along the scalloped edge of the thing. “The crème pâtissière looks sweeter than it actually is, which is annoying,” he took another bite, the berries popping against his tongue. “It’s all about looks, not substance. Dead common.”
John, mid-bite of his own perfectly acceptable pain au chocolat, froze. He’d heard Sherlock call a suspect facile, alibis flimsy, a murder weapon pedestrian, even. He looked at Sherlock. “Dead common, is it?” He parotted, a slow grin cutting across his lips as he realized that he’d caught on something Sherlock had let slip. “Who are you, Hyacinth Bucket?” He couldn’t hide his amusement. “Are you going to call the baker a cheeky little bounder next?”
Sherlock made a face. “It’s an accurate assessment,” he doubled-down, though John could hear and feel the slight thread of embarrassment in his voice. “It’s like something someone’s mother made for a school sports day lunch.”
“Right, right, give it here, it can’t be that bad!” John smirked, sliding Sherlock’s pastry toward him for a bite. Alright, so the pastry is a little thick. And the cream isn’t fantastic. I hate that he’s always right. Still, this is fun. “I suppose you were raised on spun-sugar confections, were you?” He teased. “While the rest of us plebs were eating our dead common jam tarts,” he thrummed his fingers along the table’s edge. “You know, for all your posturing about being a high-functioning sociopath, your posh streak is leagues wide when it comes to your sweets.”
Sherlock’s countenance softened, and he allowed himself a little smirk. “Perhaps,” he conceded the point. “D’you know, my grandmother, god rest her, considered a Bakewell tart to be the height of vulgarity. She would have set fire to this shop,” his smirk grew into a low, reminiscent laugh. “I spent most of my summers with her, before being shipped off to boarding school. It seems that some of her standards were… inadvertently absorbed,” he gave John a wink.
John suddenly felt bad for teasing him. “S’nice,” he shrugged, chin in his hand, elbow atop the table now. “You, talking about when you were young.”
“Is it,” Sherlock quirked his lip.
“Mm,” John affirmed. “Reminds me that you’re just a man.”
Sherlock pretended to be affronted. “Perish the thought,” he cocked his head. “Shall we go? Have a walk about the high street?”
“Just let me finish off my dead common snack,” John nodded, cramming the last of his pain au chocolat in his mouth.
Sherlock smacked his arm.
John laughed.
based off this post, I had to make its own so I could tag people properly ^_~

So I imagine many of you may know me from my Sherlock fic writing days. I'm currently working on an original project and getting to the point where I'd like to find the right person (or people) to help me wrangle it into shape. I'm not yet done, but I thought I'd start looking because it might take me a while to find the right person.
What I'd love: a professional editor who values warmth, humor, diversity, and character-driven stories and will not balk at an overly long (130k+) messy first draft. I'd love someone with knowledge and experience of the whole "writing a book" process because thus far it isn't me. Genre: romantasy, very light on the fantasy, slow burn, found family, outlaws, forests.
Do you know this person? Are you this person? Please message me.

Ok guys I need your help… I remember years ago reading on ao3 a bbc Johnlock fanfic in which Sherlock and John have met before study in pink and the story is about lestrade bursting into their flat to find out sleeping Sherlock on top of injured naked man on the couch with a gun in his hand guarding both of them (John obviously) … and I feel that the story then continued a little further but I don’t remember how so… NOW i think it was a one shot tagged with Bamf John Watson and military/army/soldier John Watson and probs the AU: different first meeting or canon divergence but that’s just my guess really… however I can’t find it :((( and im afraid it has been deleted so this is my last hope to ask first help and find ut otherwise ill have to grieve this one :(((
