I should’ve told you so many things more than I did but I was afraid someone would recognise me as a teacher and think this was not alright even though I did give you a lot of space and how the conversation was like it would’ve been between any two people. (Even though I admit I wanted to hug you cause I’m just so proud of you.)

what does teacher insecurity looks like?

when you realise that after all you are the authority in the classroom no matter how well you get along with your students and by the end of day you’re not their friend and they probably don’t trust you and you wonder did they even think you knew what you were doing

when you only have colleagues in staff who yes are lovely and give you great advice when needed but no one is really close enough to call them your friend or someone you spend time with and you spend 3/4 of the year with these people and they are the only ones you know in town because you had to move to get the job

when you look at the grades of the year and keep second guessing was it because you were too harsh with grading or because you just suck at teaching (hello imposter syndrome) more like that the kids are just lazy and unwilling to study

hell, i probably imagined everything and now i’m afraid i just seem like some gross gr00mer even though i’ve said or done nothing of the sort irl

the times when i replied your classmate’s comment with a joke in class and made smirk,

the times when someone said something rude and i was able to give them a notice,

when i first saw you i wasn’t sure were you sitting in the correct place because i truly thought you were a boy

asking you a question and getting an answer rightaway was the first time when i was sure that okay you really are a she just quite a tomboy

and this might be why i wanted to be extra safe with your class; not to slip with careless gender roles or sexualities bc i wasn’t sure did you like your given name, your energy just was so much like a guy but you never talked about it so hey, maybe you were totally fine with it

after all there are boyish girls, it’s not surprising, you seem to like hang out with guys, do you even have any close female friends? tbh, i get along with boys better as well, girls are… difficult (not in general, just at school)

i never had any gender issues at school but i can imagine how difficult it can be with all shouts so i really wanted you to feel as safe as possible, luckily your classmates were really identity sensitive and polite so i didn’t need to really try that hard

i know there are other lgbt+ people at school but for some reason you were the one stick in my mind and i’m sure you’re gonna be there for quite a while i’ve also tried to be good, mature example and i hope i did a good work and was also an example for transphobic idiots; just because you might be heterosexual female but only not as feminine i think versatile role models are needed

i read your assignment that you wrote back when we had only known each other for 2 months

you described how you didn’t really like to talk with strangers and hated small talk in general and this made me think even more how much you’ve grown

you may not be the social butterfly but then again neither was i and perhaps that’s the reason why i like you so much: you remind me of myself
