ANTI WENT THROUGH PUBERTY
always have. <3
thank you mark fischbach for bringing absolutely catastrophic levels of gloop back to cinemas. felt like I had to scrape the movie off my skin with my fingernails. absolutely delighted by the visual of repeatedly wiping dripping blood off the porthole with a bar mop like it’s normal
really brave of markiplier to face his demons and film those scenes where he's covered in blood and whimpering like that. it must have been really hard especially after his experience with the LA gangs
Can anyone hear me
i saw iron lung last night and holy shit, what a movie. i was on the edge of my seat the entire time. the storytelling, the sound design, the set, the costumes, it was so amazing and i couldn't look away for a single second. truly truly hope anyone who can is seeing it in theaters this weekend
All the people saying their surprised that Mark can act obviously haven't seen the cinematic masterpiece that is the end of Space with Markiplier part 2
Still thinking about Iron Lung and what I remember of that little bit of behind the scenes that Mark showed us in one of his videos, and yeah. We got to see the motion simulator from the outside, flailing around, while Mark can faintly be heard screaming the entire time. And now after actually seeing the way he was being ragdolled in there, I can completely understand the screaming. that wasn't acting at that point lmaoo
I know he was hospitalized for blood in his eyes at least once but I have to wonder how many other injuries he might have gotten during the filming. There was a certain amount of realness to those impacts that just... yeah. I think there was definitely real pain and real bruises happening
but hey, remember, Markiplier is NOT a masochist! He just wants to see what his body can handle!
stop asking if it was good or not. the important thing is that he was filthy and sopping wet and miserable. and he had a slutty little sports bra on.
People complain about iron lung being slow, and thats fine people can have their opinion, but I think the pacing helps the movie
Imo theres two very distinct halfs, the first, slow half where simonplier is more grounded and his perception of reality is more, well, real. The second half is more absurd and fast paced, things happen in simons mind that just isnt real
I like it, its also true to the game, its only around the end that things really pick up there
iron lung is about drowning in guilt its about feeling like youve wasted your life its about the greater good its about the difference between living and survival its about mark e plier's big fucking bazongas holy shit dude
Can I just say a few things about Iron Lung that are not spoilers that have tickled me absolutely pink for the last week?
Mark planned Jan 29/30th for the release of his movie. It was an arbitrary date for a movie that was supposed to be seen in no more than a hundred theaters. Of course he was excited to maybe see more happen, but 4000 theaters across the US and around the world...
He also didn't plan for it to release opposite other big name, highly advertised films such as "Send Help" and "Melania." (Note, I did not say these film were reputed to necessarily be good. I said they were highly advertised.)
While I know that the only reason "Melania" exists is for the bri- I mean VIBES, the fact that Amazon and Jeff Bezos invested 75million actual American dollars in a film that no one is seeing while an indie filmmaker with a dream, and a hope, and determination managed to make a film that people care about and actually want to see.
Now we want to see it because of him. To support what some of us have spent 3+ years listening to him struggle through. We have been along for this journey and we went to support the process as much as we went to see what the movie was about. We went to see it because we know the blood, sweat and tears, render farms, and water problems, and hospital trips, and injured backs, and pickup shots that went into making this film. And boy howdy did it pay off.
But think about it. We have no desire to see Melania, because of the people involved. We know it isnt a genuine production. We know its about as real as reality TV. We know every shot is propaganda... but even if it isnt, we know the whole movie was a payof- I mean vanity project. I have no desire to go hate-watch it. That will contribute nothing to this world or my life. I have no desire to further support Amazon and neither does anyone else I know. And more to the point: they could waste 75million actual American dollars on a film for which 2/3s of the crew who worked it asked to be uncredited. It contributes nothing to this world but propaganda and the perpetuation of more lies and half truths presented as worthy of our time while our country crumbles. It is as tone deaf as her rhinestone jacket so many years ago during family separation.
Markiplier, on the other hand has set up mobile blood drives at his movie because there is a shortage of blood in our Healthcare system and he made movie about and ocean of blood and: It seemed like the right thing to do. It was a way he could help.
I hope Iron Lung (a studioless, professional promotionless, indie dream) absolutely buries Melania this weekend and next weekend and the weekend after. I hope people keep going to see it again and again. I know every person i went with last night though of someone else in their lives who needs to see it.
I will go back to my regularly scheduled Doctor Who Posting and Dragon Age Art reblogging soon here. This is not a hyperfixation, but this is my heart feeling absolutely full at the triumph of a person with a story they felt needed telling, and just enough notoriety to do get it done accomplishing something these companies that spend hundreds of millions of dollars on a self-contained film would never take the chance on. This is my heart exploding at the thought that the right dream CAN outweigh odds that seem insurmountable if you have the support behind you. This is Me and the rebel in my soul being overwhelmed by the idea that a small crew, really a handful of people, treated with respect and paid conscientiously put together a film that I will remember for years to come while all the blockbuster films ive seen in the last decade have been mostly forgotten in a couple of days, because explosions on a screen don't hold much meaning.
This is poetic in a way. Not in one that really makes sense but this is poetry in the way that it is almost proof of something we, the little guys are all brought up believing: we matter. Our voices matter. Our stories matter.
And while Markiplier hasn't been a little guy for a long time, he's never really thought of himself as a big fish, (well maybe sometimes, but comparatively). Don't get me wrong: his fame and success absolutely made this possible, but he still did it against incredible odds. There are still hurdles to come, but unconventional voices can still be heard.
Cosmic Horror is an incredibly niche genre. The fact that the Iron Lung movie is as popular as it is is a miracle.
When I see a lot of reviews focus on the long waits and esoteric and unexplained plot I get why it is. That’s the parts that make it good. Cosmic Horror is patient, it builds to something grander and unravels slowly until you realize it’s so much bigger than you are.
It’s also unknown. When you know Cosmic Horror it’s stops being that and becomes whatever itself explained to be. Sci-Fi or Paranormal etc.
It’s why I never want a Bloodborne sequel, and only want a remaster. Knowing more about the world of Bloodborne will turn it into another supernatural horror game.
When I get enough information about the horror it’s no longer beyond my comprehension.
This is gonna seem so silly- but one of my favourite things about Iron Lung was how easy it was to forget about Markiplier.
Some actors (and yes hes an actor) you can only ever see as themselves. Especially if you watch a lot of their movies/content.
Nicholas Cage, Jack Black, The Rock, literally any of the actors from Avengers series, hell even tumblr favs like Benedict Cumberbactch.
Thats not Cameron Poe, Ghost Rider, Ben Gate, or, idk, the guy from Wicker man- Thats Nickolas Cage.
Thats not Steve Minecraft, thats Jack Black. You get the idea.
And Markiplier. Well. I had concern that watching him routinely for 10+ years would make it Very hard for us as an audience to shed that view of "Thats just Markiplier" and to fully be immersed in the character he's built for us.
Thats NOT an easy task for any actor to do. And while there have been some that have been able to pull it off (Think Robert Pattinson), even some of the most experianced actors get stuck in that hole.
Well, it turns out Mark isnt one to get stuck.
There was no hint of Markiplier in this film. But rather it was Mark Fischbach, the actor, who was able to weave a raw and beautiful performance for us.
This mf kept appearing whenever I closed my eyes last night.
Just saw them put my favorite character in a jar and shake him around inside while he begs to be released. Go see Iron Lung.
Now if Iron Lung the movie gets a Blu-ray release, I suggest adding in the director's commentary starting with "Hello everybody, my name is Markiplier..." and also Markiplier in the corner.
