Calling all experienced witches…HELP😫
So, I’m just starting out in the craft, and I’m at the point where I need a little guidance. I don’t know if there’s an order in which you’re supposed to do things or if it varies from person to person. For instance, am I supposed to do shadow work first or should I hit the books first? When do I start working on my book of shadows? What do I even put in my book of shadows (besides spells and rituals)? I feel like I have a thousand questions and no one to ask😩
'Seasonal Employment Spell'
I just did a deliciously simple little spell for my upcoming job interview. Very few ingredients and simple to do. I’m gonna call it the ‘Seasonal Employment Spell’ just ‘cause the mixture of spices smells like fall 💛
My intent with this spell is to ace an interview that I have coming up this week. I want to stand out from other applicants and communicate easily with the interviewer. Also to enjoy working at the new spot and be successful! Here is what I used…
Pinch of allspice for good fortune, especially with money.
Pinch of cinnamon for money as well.
Turmeric to add a beautiful yellow hue to aid in communication and good, happy feelings.
Pyrite for confidence and business success. Alternatively you can use 3 pennies!
A tea light candle.
Olive oil.
Mix the spices in a small bowl and add just a couple of drops of olive oil. I used my fingers to mix the spices and the oil in a clockwise motions focusing on my intent while imagining a glowing golden light around my ‘altar’.
I took the candle out of its little metal holder and rubbed the oil all over it. The spices combined together with the oil make the candle look coppery like a little penny! Return the candle to its holder. I place 3 small pieces of pyrite (or pennies) around my candle and light that baby up while really focusing, meditating, and visualizing my intent. I continue focusing until I felt happy, successful, like I got the job already! I visualized enjoying work too. Let it burn until it’s done.
I plan on carrying the pyrite with me to the interview :) I will let you all know how it goes!

If you have experience in making your own products, skip this section and get started on making your own lip balms! If not, keep reading for helpful information and tips!
Let’s get started!
First thing is first, have all ingredients out and ready for use! When working with wax and oils, the last thing you want is anything over-boiling or drying on you! For the Double boiler, you will need a saucepan & a small pot.
Begin by adding water to your saucepan, just enough to heat your small pot. Place small pot inside of saucepan. Turn heat on high temp. After pot is heating, add 1 tbsp. of Beeswax, Shea Butter, and Coconut Oil to your small pot, and stir well until ingredients melt.
Add 15-20 drops of your essential oil. I used a mixture of Tea Tree for healing, Lavender for soothing, and Rosemary & Jasmine for an additional lovely fragrance. Feel free to play around with your essential oils to create your own signature scent, but be sure to only add 15-20 drops total!
Here’s the fun part! Adding the ingredients to your tubes! This is where your plastic pipette comes in handy. When you are done filling your tubes, do not put the caps on until it is completely dry so it can dry faster! Congratulations! You’re all done! Enjoy your new homemade Lip Balm!

The idea of worshipping deities being scary, difficult, and not for beginners that’s being popularized on TikTok is literally so absurd. Like these gods were worshipped by entire civilizations for millennia. WHICH INCLUDED LITERAL CHILDREN??? So no, you don’t have to be some advanced witch to start interacting with deities. If seven year olds could do it, so can you.
let me be very clear that if you voted for donald trump or support him in any capacity you are not welcome here. my blog is not the place for you and i do not want you interacting with me.
Florence and the Machine at last night’s Spotify event in Brooklyn. As Florence began to sing Sky Full of Song a literal storm began to hit, she never faltered and embraced the storm.
A Crash Course in Warding
Let’s just start a series of crash courses in witchcraft, since sometimes we need to learn things the quick and dirty way. Today, let’s talk about wards.
What are wards? Wards are protective energy barriers. They keep things out. You can place them around your home, certain rooms, even on certain objects. With practice and clear intentions, you can focus the wards to block out everything or only certain things. We’ll get to that in a bit.
Why should I ward my space and my things? Wards can keep out all sorts of things you don’t want in your home. They can block out negative entities, wayward spirits, mischievous entities, demons, and (if you’re really good at what you’re doing) even gods. Some people ward their divination tools so they know there are no spirits tampering with the results.
So what do I need to do first? Cleanse. This is very important. Wards are kind of like walls, or perhaps more accurately, bubbles. If you don’t clean the space first, you might trap things inside your ward bubble. You do not want that. There are lots of methods of cleansing, from burning sage to spritzing oil-infused water. Find a method you’re comfortable with and cleanse everything you’re going to be warding.
I’ve cleansed my home/item. Now what? Now we ward. I’m going to give you a couple methods. Let’s start with my favorite, incense warding.
Incense warding can also be done with spritzes of water/essential oil blends or herb-infused water if you can’t have smoke in your space. Whichever you’re using, you want to have a blend of protective herbs. Bay leaves, cinnamon, ginger, mustard seed, and salt are some great options that you can find in the grocery store, no fancy witch shop necessary. If you’re using incense, make sure you’re using natural incense and not super cheap stuff that’s artificially scented. The magic is in the herbs, and you won’t get that from fake scents.
How to Incense/Spritz Ward an Item
Smoke or spray item.
Visualize the smoke or spray clinging to the item and wrapping around it like a tight blanket, protecting it from anything that would cause harm (or interference, etc.).
How to Incense/Spritz Ward Your Space
Pick a place to start. I always start at my altar, but it’s up to you. If you’re doing multiple floors, start either at the top or bottom floor.
Moving continuously to your right, smoke or spray along the walls and door frames. As you go, imagine a barrier being formed around the walls, ceiling, and floor, pushing outwards to fill the room. Visualize the smoke or spray forming the barrier to keep out anything that will do you harm. [If you have a hard time with visualization, you can simply focus on the intent of the smoke or spray keeping things out.]
Keep moving right, following the layout of your home, making sure you get all the closet spaces. You basically want to outline the entire area you’re protecting, whether it’s you’re room or your whole house.
For multiple floors, repeat on each level.
For big layouts where there are rooms in the middle, go around those rooms as well.
I like to reinforce the wards over outside doors, windows, and mirrors. These are all passages of sorts, and when I reach them, I use the incense to draw a pentagram in the air over them. This is entirely up to you.
You’re done when you’ve reached the point where you began.
So why do we go to the right? Is that important? Kind of. Going to the right is like going clockwise. It’s about making things and progression, where going to the left or counter-clockwise is about deconstruction or reversal. [I read this idea in a witchy book a long time ago and will try to find a source when I can. If you honestly don’t feel it makes a difference, do whatever you’re comfortable with.]
Can I place wards that keep out certain things but not others? Sure. When you’re going around your space/warding your item, your intent is what’s important. I like to ward out entities that mean harm - it’s nice and general and doesn’t keep the fae out. Some people might want certain spirits and not others. Have your intentions clear in your mind as you place your wards.
That’s neat and all, but what are some other ways to ward? Let’s list a few.
Symbol/Sigil Wards
Choose (or make) a symbol or sigil that has protective properties. I’ve done this with Pluto’s astrological symbol because I worship him and it’s my way of being like, “Hey, Pluto. Please protect me, kthanxbai.” Pentagrams are nice and basic witchy/pagan symbols if you like them.
Draw the symbol over doors and windows. You do not literally have to draw it. It can be in water, incense smoke, or just your finger against the surface if you want.
As you’re drawing, make sure you have your intentions in mind - that nothing harmful can pass through this door, that the windows remain closed against entities, etc.
Energy Bubbles (if you have control over your energy)
Pick an item - any item.
Get your warding intentions in mind.
Channel lots of energy into the item. Visualize it emanating from the item in a bubble to fill your space.
If you’ve got mad skillz, you can form the bubble to the walls and be super exact with where its barriers are.
Vocal Wards
If you like spoken (or thought) spells, come up with a small chant to protect your space.
You can repeat this chant as you focus on your item being protected or as you walk around your home, protecting every room.
This is really great to incorporate into basically any other form of warding and gives your magic an extra bit of oomph.
I’ve heard wards can “fade” over time. True or false? Wards are just energy. Like all energies, they can disperse and weaken over time, or if something particularly nasty puts effort into destroying them. Redo your wards every so often (I do mine every few months, but it’s up to you), and especially before spiritual interactions. I also like to do mine after I’ve had lots of company, to kind of clear out family’s lingering energies and reinforce what I don’t want in my house.
In general, the intent of your wards is the most important part. Know what you want to keep out. This concludes our crash course on warding. Now go forth and protect some stuff!

October 2020 Happenings! ✨
Overall October is a very busy month, the tension for change has been building and will continue to build throughout October. There will be some opportunities for release and solutions the 2nd half of the month. With a lot of shifts, grounding techniques will be important this month. Enjoy the Halloween Blue Moon. ✨
October 1st: Full Moon in Aries-heal wounds of identity and of self. Restless moon.
October 2nd: Venus moves into Virgo: How we show love becomes tinged with the details, nice acts of service, wanting to be helpful, wanting to be perfect.
October 4th: Pluto goes Direct: Pluto stationing direct will bring things out of the shadows of our shadows and a chance to bring to light what we have been uncovering.
October 9th: Mars square Pluto: be careful of tension relating to power struggles. Try to keep anger and aggression in balance and be careful of others.
October 13th: Mercury goes retrograde: Time for Mercury shenanigans, re assess, re do, re think things.
October 16th: New Moon in Libra-tension for growth, ready for growth. There is a way to balance unpleasant things.
October 22nd: Sun moves into Scorpio: the month becomes tinged with intensity, deeper connections, seeing behind the curtains.
October 27th:Mercury renters Libra: Moving from Scorpio to Libra, we move into re balancing things.
October 27th: Venus moves into Libra: Venus is dignified here, how we show love is all about balance, grace, beauty, art. Intellectual connections.
October 31st: Full moon-Blue moon in Taurus-indulging our needs. Prepare for the unexpected. ⚡️
Reasons you should put your grimoire/bos in a binder:
1) Its more customizable. You can buy all different colors of cardstock for the pages and decorate them. Or, you can print out papers and add them in. Cut and glue pictures onto the pages, if you like. The pages can also be laminated.
2)You can re-arrange papers at will! Forgot something? Just add it in. Don't like how something turned out? Take it out and redo it.
3)^That makes it easier to organize. You can add one of those tab things for a quick way to flip to a certain section.
4)There's cool witchy binders online, you can also get creative and decorate the exterior.
5)They're cheap.
6)If you run out of space, move all of it into a bigger binder and use the old one for something else.
7)Pockets!!!

my witchy journal 🧿
i have begun my collection of books! i am so excited. the more i learn about witchcraft, the further i feel drawn into it and just the more i want to learn. i’ve always been a lifelong learner, i LOVE learning and teaching. but something is different here, it’s like each little tidbit of knowledge on the craft i pick up, i want to trade it in for two more, four more, eight more, ETERNAL KNOWLEDGE! also i love reading in general so i’m really vibing with this research phase of witchcraft.
i also purchased a Nazar/evil eye necklace as my chosen protection amulet for the time being. it’s more symbolic and representative to me, so i didn’t drop a paycheck on anything uber fancy. i received the necklace yesterday and proceeded to research how to cleanse and instill protection in my new amulet. i love and am comfortable with meditation and energy focus, so i ended up focusing all positive energy i could muster into a bowl of salt which i kept the amulet in overnight on my makeshift-temporary altar. i now feel cleansed, protected, and positive energy as i wear my amulet!!
i’ve always wanted to burn candles or incense in my room but never been allowed. as a legal adult, i still live with my family for the emotional and financial support they provide me with. so it’s simple i follow the rule of no-burning-things. however, since getting started in the craft, my desire for burning the things has resurfaced. especially incense. i’ve slightly mentioned my piqued interest in the craft as well as questioning if i can burn incense. THEY AGREED. i’m so lucky to have them<3 i purchased a pack of incense cones to try first from a shop i found online, as well as a crescent pentacle amulet i fell in love with.
in my beginner research of astrology, i’ve found i apprently have a close correlation with the moon. i’ve always been intrigued by the moon and it just brings me so much peace and comfort. i’m especially excited to continue my research into the lunar side of witchcraft and develop my relationship with the moon.
unfortunately, my grandmother is coming into town this weekend and i was instructed to deconstruct my makeshift-temporary altar and hide my beginner witchy library. not too much of an upset, as i continue to respect my family members and i’m just a baby witch anyways! it has been replaced with halloween decoration WOOHOO!
ALSO ALMOST FORGOT TO MENTION MY BREWING INTERST IN TAROT AND TAROT CARD DECKS!! i need to chill on the money spending for now, but it will definitely enter my research rotation soon and i am beyond excited!
bye for now! blessed be💚
