Day 3 of @brettmanningart awesome (actually my favourite) drawing challenge #brettsfaebruaryartchallenge ‘Urisk’ The Urisk is a fairy creature from Scottish folklore, said to be half human, half goat; like so many fairy creatures, it can be helpful or harmful, helping with chores around the farm and household, or malingering by ponds and streams, creating distinctly unwelcoming vibes for any hapless passerby. I’m taking part in @brettmanningart amazing #brettsfaebruaryartchallenge2023 for the first time this year, thought it was a no brainer really, being as I love drawing fairies! First prompt is #daoinesidhe translated from the Irish as ‘people of the mounds’, in olden times it was believed that an otherworldly race of people lived in the old burial mounds, so I drew a little fairy arriving home to her hillocky home after a long night dancing in the forest!
