Alternatives to incense
Wether you are a closeted witch or simply cannot light incense for any reason, you can use substitues that are fairly cheap if not completely free.
Here's a little list what I use instead of incense and what I use it for:
Candles. Great for offerings and for setting the mood before a ritual
Perfume. Good for cleansing purposes instead of incense smoke but be careful if you want to use it with crystals because it might ruin them. You can also get a perfume exclusively for your magic work or specific perfumes for your deities
Perfume tester stripes. They are a great gift for deities and don't require you to spend any money
Music. If you need to cleanse something you can substitute incense with cleansing music
Air humidifiers. You can add some drops scented oils to the water and use the steam instead of the smoke of incense
Hope this is helpful. And if you have any other alternatives that I haven't listed feel free to share

This is a post for disabled people. For mentally ill people. For low energy people.
This is a post for people who work three jobs and look after their kids.
This is a post for people who are TIRED. sick. Struggling.
The Gods will not abandon you.
Even if you donāt worship every day, the Gods will not abandon you.
Even if you canāt pray regularly, the Gods will not abandon you.
Even if you canāt put together offerings, the Gods will not abandon you.
Even if you stumble,
The Gods will not abandon you.
They will not punish you for the crime of being human. They know you are not divine. They know you are imperfect. They do not expect greatness and perfection, they just expect respect and humility.
Stay humble. Stay consistent. Show your reverence in whatever way you can. Keep them in your thoughts before you go to sleep at night.
The Gods know you.
DISCLAIMER: this is my personal interpretation. Obviously beliefs differ and the ancients would have thought very differently. This has just been my experience.
Still thinking about that video I saw months ago that was like "my spell to save the environment" which started with casting a circle using what must have been most of cylinder of salt, poured out to form a ring on the ground.
I'm just gonna suggest that if you're interested in saving the environment, you could start by not going out of your way to salt the earth.
idk if anyone's said this in the notes yet but eggshell powder is ALWAYS a good, environmentally-friendly substitute for salt when casting circles outside! salt can harm and/or kill plants, whereas eggshells contain calcium and are good for plants.
What's the difference between Wicca and witchcraft? I bought books on the topic of Wicca and they say there's a difference but I have inattentive type ADHD so if anyone is willing to explain it to me like I'm a 6yo...
ADHD witch reporting for explanation duty!
A lot of books conflate Wicca and witchcraft and the difference between them isn't always adequately explained, so here goes.
Witchcraft is a craft, as the word suggests. It is a magical practice that takes many forms across many cultures and traditions, but it is not inherently a religion or a religious practice by itself and does not require spiritual or religious trappings in order to work.
Wicca is a modern pagan religion built around the practice of witchcraft. Wiccan practices add spiritual and religious meaning to magical workings through ritual, sacred symbols, and asking their deities for help with making the magic work. (This can take different forms as well since there are several different sects of Wicca with different ideas and philosophies.)
Here's the separation - Wicca cannot exist without witchcraft, but witchcraft exists independently of Wicca. All witches practice witchcraft in some form, but not all witches are Wiccan.
It's a bit like singing. All singers sing songs, but some singers sing hymns and gospel music. The separation lies in how the music is performed and what it means to the person singing it.
Hope this helps!

do you have any tips on how to start studying witchcraft? iām totally new and donāt know what to do:(
āļø š”šØš° ššØ š¬ššš«š š¬šš®šš²š¢š§š š°š¢ššš”šš«ššš
hi, lovely, thank you for asking! i wish you all the luck in the world in your studies. here are a few tips from me.
ideas for how to start studying:
read. when i first started studying witchcraft, tumblr was my only resource because i couldnāt really go out and buy witchy resource books. however, i have a solution for that. this is a link to a cite that allows you to download books for free. yes, it works and itās safe. guests can download five books per 24 hours, but if you create a free account you can download more. they have lots of books on witchcraft on hereābut not all of them. there are also some tumblr posts floating around that have free pdfs of witchy books as well, so keep an eye out for that.
watch youtube videos. there are lots of vloggers out there who make instructional videos on witchcraft, especially at the beginner level. they have videos on all sorts of topicsālike things you should research as a baby witch, how to compile a grimoire/book of shadows, how to cast spells, etc.
know that everyone who shares how-tos about witchcraft is biased. yes, even me. what works for me may not work for you. and what works for you may not work for the most revered witch on youtube. thatās okay. youāre not doing anything wrong. follow your intuition and allow it to guide you. thatās the principle here on my blog. i prefer to post about diy witchcraft or do-it-yourself witchcraft, meaning i want to encourage witches to sit down and craft their own information rather than regurgitating someone elseās. however, that might not be your cup of tea. you might not have an issue with the consensusās definition of magick, and thatās cool. just be sure, as youāre studying magick, youāre able to (1) recognize that youāre learning from one personās experience and (2) discern whether or not those experiences will work for you.
write notes. anything that jumps out to you when youāre reading or watching videos you should write down. when youāre new, a lot of information will seem enticing, and you want to absorb it all like a big sponge. thereās nothing wrong with that. but, what makes it wrong is when you start to dread or feel uncomfortable by something. for me, personally, i never liked the idea of making my magick religious, and not for lack of trying! everyone and their grandmother on witchblr seemed pagan, so i thought something must be wrong with me if iām not. i tried to worship deities, but i always felt stupid when i did it because i didnāt believe. i even tried incorporating christianity into witchcraft, but that didnāt feel right either. eventually, i decided i wouldnāt make my craft religious. it does make things frustrating when iām reading a book, and itās chock-full of wiccan rituals or pagan spells, but iāll still read it because the book may cover a topic iām interested in. tldr; feel comfortable in the idea of taking some information and leaving the rest.
rewrite your notes. the first time you write, i would recommend putting it in a cheap/old notebook where you can be as messy as you want. once you finish, go back, reread, cut out things you think youāll never use, and rewrite your notes. (preferably in your own words, but i understand that can be difficult.) now, you can choose to rewrite these in your grimoire or a different notebook. doesnāt matter. what youāre doing here is teaching yourself discernment and critical thinking. when you start to cut things out, youāre narrowing it down to the types of magick you do want to practice. (of course, this can change over time, but itās a good place to start.)
donāt wait to practice until you know everything. because that will literally never happen. there will be a point when you realize everyone teaching these baby witch tips is regurgitating the same information over and over again. that is the point (actually, itās well past the point) that you need to close tumblr and start practicing. because, at that point, the only person you can learn from is yourself. in practicing your magick you can find out what really works for you, and whatās excessive. donāt feel guilty about cutting down your craft, itās necessary. (another personal example: i donāt have an altar. I did at the beginning, but it became useless to me over time, so i cut it out of my craft.) start practicing the little thingsāsuch as grounding and cleansingāearly on. itās okay if you forget what to do or nothing happens, youāre learning.
use yourself as a resource. yup, iām back on my diy witchcraft bullshit. iām going to post about this soon, but you need to use yourself as a resource. you might be thinking, ānan, how the hell do i do that when iām new?!ā well, iāll tell you. correspondences. there are hundreds of posts about them on tumblrācolor correspondence, crystal correspondence, fabric correspondence, moon phase correspondenceāare all meaningless if you disagree. see, the color red is commonly associated with love and lust, so witches stress to use a red candle when performing that type of magick. well, what if you think red represents creativity? then go with your meaning. wow, i know, thatās a radical thought, but seriously it personalizes your craft and brings you closer to it.
Blessed Samhain š
Today I honour the past so tomorrow I may embrace the future.

Make an offering to your deities or ancestors
Make food with seasonal ingredients symbolic of the final harvest: squashes, pumpkins, grains, apples, spices. Even wine, if youāre allowed to drink.
Prepare your home and yourself for the coldest part of the year. Redo protection spells, clean out clutter, develop sustaining spells for winter.
Reflect on the past year. What did you lose? What people left your life, what things no longer hold meaning for you? How did you change as a person?
Work with various forms of divination, like runes, pendulums, tea leaves, or tarot.
If you do work with ouija boards you better be SUPER DUPER careful. Do not neglect protections, and if you feel uncomfortable, stop, protection spells and cleanse, cleanse, cleanse.
