It has already been three months since the first part was completed. Time flies by so fast. I have received many inquiries, wondering if the second part is not done yet. But even for Ono [1], with prior commitments on top of the schedule, it is not so easy to start working on the second part… Anyway, it is next in line after finishing the current tasks, so you will not have to wait a year for it… supposedly(^_^;). Turtles are in a rush in their own way, so please wait patiently.

Q10: Why does Naru have black hair although he’s British!? Why!! Are there British people who have black hair!? Ah… Gene has black hair as well.

Yes, they do exist. Even in Japan, some naturalized Japanese citizens and half-Japanese have blond hair. Similarly, some also have black hair. By the way, Naru and Gene are ¾ Japanese and ¼ Irish. Their father is from an Irish lineage, so genealogy-wise, they are of Irish descent. Moreover, come to think of it, Griffith was their surname before they were adopted.

Q11: It would be nice to have a child like Naru if I were to give birth to one.

For that to happen, first, find a husband who is extremely handsome. Additionally, please severely torment your child until they grow a twisted personality. (However, I will not take responsibility even if they turn out to be merely bad ^^;) Now, could there be a new book announcement in the next message? That would be great (*with deep emotion*).

Q12: I’ve been curious about it since before; it should be summer in the book There is Really an Abundance of Evil Spirits [2], yet everyone wears long sleeves. Mai is wearing some sort of coat too. Please Don’t Summon Evil Spirits [3] is exactly the same also, so I wondered if everyone has a long-sleeves rule. If it is following this rule, then they will surely have summer clothes in I’m Fine Even With Evil Spirits [4] Parts 1 and 2, riiight? Why on earth is it like this? How should I interpret this? Could it simply be Nakamura-sensei’s mistake?

About that, perhaps it’s because Nakamura-sensei is a laid-back, easygoing person about tiny details…? (^_^;) Now that I recall, “Spot the Mistake” [5] is Nakamura-sensei’s idea, but Ono has nothing to do with it. Please don’t blame me~

My apologies, but from the second part, the illustrator has changed. As for information about the next illustrator, it is currently being discussed, so that is undecided.

Q15: Regarding Naru, where does he cut his hair when it has grown out? Does he cut it by himself? …Wha—Could it be that it doesn’t grow…?! (Say, for example, he keeps it from growing through qigong.) No way.

Let me see. What would he do? I think he will probably go and get a haircut, but... (It is scary if Lin-san cuts it for him ^ ^;) The Naru that Nakamura-sensei draws came off with a perm, right? Naru whose hair is rolled with curlers… (lol). Or were those his natural curls?

NOTES:

Ono-sensei refers to herself in 3rd person at times. I maintained it when translating this because it’s funny and cute XD but also a close look on how she refers to herself when speaking to fans. When women speak like this, it’s usually within people they’re close to, so it’s not only cute but also brings a sense that she’s comfortable being playful with the people she’s talking to, namely her fans. Kind of like roleplay? Since Ono is a pen name and carries her author role XD

There is Really an Abundance of Evil Spirits = volume 2 of the GH LN.

“Spot the Mistake” is a JP game show that’s like spot the difference but instead it’s about spotting errors on images/text everywhere.

Yasuhara’s university is definitely Tokyo University.

Humanities III = 文III = 文三, which is short for the Department of Humanities, Division 3 

Yasuhara’s mom being “noble” can mean she’s from a noble/rich family. The word used can also mean “pampered.”

Naru and Gene’s middle names→I’ve speculated before that E.C. is from Edgar Cayce and J.A. is from Andrew Jackson Davis; both are popular mediums, with Andrew Jackson Davis said to be Edgar Cayce’s predecessor. Why is it “J.A.” and not “A.J.”? My guess is that this is a typo. On the fanzine print, they actually mispelled John as “Jhon” 😅😅😅, so I believe this is a typo case. Just that, we’ve got no way to confirm lol The practice of using popular figures as middle names, interestingly, came from the USA. It’s a practice to differentiate people with similar/identical first names as well as to honor people whom parents and the like found important/admirable. Since Naru and Gene are supposedly often name-dropped in relation to Edgar Cayce and Andrew Jackson Davis (both Americans btw) respectively, I think this is a plausible explanation why these people could be used as their middle names.

Lin’s first name, Koujo, means someone who succeeds with a calm and composed attitude, w/c is definitely like him XD

John is Jhon in the copy. I believe this is a typo, as mentioned.

AUGH This is one of my favorite pages of both original and sequel series!!! He's still going to nag at her because that was dangerous and stupid, but he also knows she just saved his ass and she IS competent. They're not on the same unequal footing they were in the first series, they've rather hit their stride together, and I love that for them. Mai is going to listen to him when it matters but she's also not going to let him get hurt.

I send this ask a while ago, but I think it failed to send, so let me write it again 🥹💔:

In Cursed House there is this scene in which Mai and Gene play as pair of lovers and Gene in that dream „kills” the son of the owner of the house. And HELLO? By that time Mai still doesn’t know that „Naru” in her dreams is actually her stupid boss twin brother, while Gene is aware of the way Mai sees him. And he is the one who guides Mai through her dreams, showing her stuff (he even says that in that dream after it ends - I mean the part of the lovebirds memory”). SOOO if he is the one who is in charge of Mai dreams and he also has a special connection with Naru, then why he chose the young owner of the cursed house to be „the one who stayed between our love”.

COULD IT BE POSSIBLE THAT MAYBE NARU FELT A LITTLE JELLY JELLY?

I mean the owner was FINNEEE too ngl 🥵

As I recall, wasn’t Mai dreaming that while Naru was possessed?

What if Naru was dreaming the same thing & Mai & him were actually reenacting that?

Because Mai often reenacts in her postcognitive dreams & if Gene connects her & Naru, wouldn’t this lovers being chased scene quite a rare instance of Naru also reenacting his vision? Gene only connects Mai to Naru’s visions after all😊🤭🤭🤭

Quick reminder that even though Naru might not be loud and verbal with his love to Mai, the well scene perfectly showcased how he quietly observes Mai and takes notes of her behavior, studying her. And he does it so precisely that he can pinpoint in what exact moment Mai already calmed down and what are the exact „steps” of Mai behavior when she’s stressed out.

If that’s not Love then Idk what is. My man just loves to study Mai’s behavior and notice the smallest things about her. 🤭🤭🤭

I was tagged by @witchhuntress ! I know you said I could do any fandoms but I decided it would be very fun to stick to only Ghost Hunt. I haven't written for Ghost Hunt since 2021 but I still think about it. And I had 31 fanfics to pick from (not including the couple fics that are multi one shots LOL) I decided to do them justice, and re-read a bunch of them, which was much more enjoyable than I expected. (But ugh. I still found some typos.) Also, I will keep this T rated!

Okay! I will start with a very light hearted one:

Lin’s List A list of 25 things for Lin to refrain from - and keep Oliver from doing - during their stay in Japan. As suggested by Madoka Mori. This was written in 2012. I recall it being inspired by a friend’s list style fic. It was such a fun feat to summarize the entire series in a 25 point list.

Knock Three Times Sixteen-year-old Ayako is invited to a test of courage. Hunting for Hanako-san will be child’s play, right? I really enjoyed learning about Japanese folklore and getting into a younger Ayako’s head for this fic.

Same Old Lang Syne Should old acquaintances be forgotten, and never brought to mind? This story is based after a song by John Fogelberg by the same name. This is one of those types of fics that has sooo much research in it to make it flow properly. Sometimes I think a fic based after a song will be easy: the plot is already there! But no. I wanted to keep the essence of the song strong, but I also wanted it not to stick out so bad when it was based after an American song set on Christmas Eve, but the fic was in Japan. I was quite happy with it in the end. And it hurt so many readers.

The Last of the Real Ones Being determined to expose them all as frauds might mean losing a piece of himself along the way. I don’t say this very often, because I mainly write one shots and am happy to do so, but this one was really was only going to be a one shot. And I realized how it definitely needed at least a little more, so I left it for dead for years. I was very glad I did eventually finish it.

Ever After, Fiftieth oneshot of Wishing Well Each story contains a question, but does it have an answer? Here they are collected together, like coins tossed in a wishing well. The one shot collection of Wishing Well was written from 2011-2014. Fun fact, it was originally a 100 prompt list, but by number 50, I just knew it was time to let it go and work on other things. I had wanted the last one shot to be perfectly epic and I think I achieved that. >:)

I wish I could write a GH fanfic that would be remembered for a long time, but I think my skill level is still so far behind😂

W/ a friend’s help, I’ll be traveling over the weekend. I feel like I could have planned things earlier, but I had so many family matters to take care of before myself😔

I think I’ll relax on this small trip a bit, so once again, a delay on my GH plans (I’m so sorry TT). But I think this respite is really necessary. I’ve been going here and there throughout this week to get ready for this trip, & it really is stressful to pack so last minute after all the errands to get what I need because I couldn’t do so last week TT, & last week w/ family stress too, it’s really been one after another😭

Honestly just want to calm down. I’ve been going over my lists on what to pack so I won’t forget anything. I think I would definitely want to look at shorter lists next time because TT My brain cells evaporating looking over stuff repeatedly.

Anyway, after this trip, I really will work on a lot of updates~

Ok, firstly, you guys aren’t obligated to read these, okay?😂 Ndjdjjs Anyway, my 5 fav self-written fics fluctuate a lot, but these are the following I’m most proud of (most are ongoing tho TT):

1. Cloud

When I first thought about this story, I knew it could be extremely challenging. It’s built like a historical romance w/ supernatural & early parapsychology elements, but it’s more than that. Thru Mai’s eyes come social commentaries of a certain young woman in the Edo period. Though a lot of Orihime are from imagination, the chapters are built on a lot of research😅It was hard, but also it’s one of the most satisfying fanfics I’ve ever written, personally jdjdj

There’s still a lot to the journey in this fic, & I’m still thinking about the type of cases I want to put in it, esp. w/ it being set in 17th century Japan. However, I’m really glad on how it’s going so far☺️

2. Infinity

Yes, this is more like recency effect, but because I know how it’ll come into play later in the 1st part of a trilogy, I’m really proud about how I started this story so far.

When I start stories, I really just run w/ anything. I honestly don’t have a template or so 😅😅😅I just start w/ an idea. Funnily, I started this fic with an onomatopoeia XD and that really sets the tone of it a bit that Naru and Mai are about to experience a more comedic situation. I think this is one of the funniest stories I’ve ever written too because kids! Found family! Chemistry! 😅🤣But also, there’s light-heartedness in the midst of heavy burdens.

This is also one of the fics I’ve been writing in Mai & Naru’s POV, & there are many things I’m excited to reveal about it later on. But yeah tho it’s challenging to balance it out esp. in the very long Chapter 4, I wanted to explore thoughts never or rarely explored before while being mindful of the plot & the source. Every word or phrase is carefully chosen & I hope readers could feel it or notice it😅☺️

3. Reminiscence

This is my first ever fanfic, & one I started a few months after watching the anime. It’s riddled w/ a lot of grammatical errors & other mistakes before & I’ve rewritten it, but I can’t say it’s perfect yet lol (I have to go back to it). BUT! I’m proud of this story because this was the first story I finished back in 2010.

And it’s my first GH mystery. A lot of this story is actually based on my own school experiences. I’ve always loved ghost stories & my school had ghost stories too. Tbh, I was a pantser, so I wrote a lot of this story through snap judgments. There are things I still have to refine now, but despite the mistakes, I’m really proud of this story.

4. Naru’s Moving Castle

When I started thinking I wanted to be a writer, I actually wanted to do fantasy. My family is against me being a writer, so I kind of only written for myself, not as a career for now. But motivation to write dwindled over the years as I focused on adulting instead, and I forgot my roots & why I wanted to write in the first place.

Anyway, when I got the idea of doing a Howl’s Moving Castle backdrop, I had only vague concepts. I read the book & watched the movie, so this fic is actually inspired by both works. I’ve also read Jones’s Chrestomanci books, so terms like “enchanter” was something I wanted to include in it.

Overall, I think this is the story where I really planned a lot from the start. At least for the world-building aspect. There are still a lot of stuff I haven’t introduced yet that I have planned for more than a decade now, but so far, I’m proud about this being my dabble on fantasy. Although it’s not the first because I do have an original work still in progress before I started it, it’s my first one released to the public. It made me relive great memories reading/watching fantasy stories and the love for magic among other things.

Anyone who has read this will find twists in the GH adaptation. I wanted this story to be fresh despite its well-known inspirations, and I think anyone who has read it can tell too how different the narration is compared to others or how the characters in their set roles might not be as expected in comparison to the original. It really is a Ghost Hunt twist XD But w/ a lot more magic embedded~

5. Dollmaker

This is the 2nd fic I finished and it’s a sequel to Reminiscence. Like the latter, it’s not of course perfect because I was very young, inexperienced, English still not so good etc. I do plan to rewrite it someday when I finished Reminiscence again. However, I’m really proud that I had written and updated this in short amounts of time. I think I was still a pantser but I also did more planning with it since this was the story where I first formatted it in days, e.g., DAY 1, DAY2.

There are elements and thought processes I’m really proud of in this story, & I really love how I formulated the conflicts in this one. Of course, reading it right now, I’ll definitely get the urge to polish it further, but I’m proud that I was able to write what I envisioned for the most part in this one☺️
