He’s frozen at first; thoughts racing endlessly as he further gets lost within his own head. How could it be here? Did he fail back then? He was so ‘young’, mistakes were very common.
And he was blind to it, despite often walking the sands of time.
‘It shouldn’t exist. I need to destroy it. A vile creation; it should have never been made. I need to–’
Internal thoughts were swiftly laid to rest when Sevren felt a touch upon his arm. Wide eyed, he turned his gaze sideways towards Deitrich. Strained breathes followed as Sevren nodded his head.
His mask is cracking, but he forced his expression to soften, his voice to calm itself as he spoke.
“Deitrich.”
“Have you happened to acquire a dagger recently? The blade, a dark red in colour, with a silver handle?”
Drip, drip.
There’s no hiding it. Sevren has curled his hand into a fist so tightly, that blood is dripping through his fingers onto the floor. The downside of gloves with such sharp claws attached.
“Well…?”
⤗ Sevren is utterly lost in himself for a moment, and that worries Deitrich. He can’t do much but wait for his company to respond. Deitrich notices the blood before Sevren does, probably, and he reaches for one of those now bleeding hands. He knows a spell that can help. He’s not a healer, but studying all kinds of magic has it’s benefits.
“I have,” he replies hesitantly. “Don’t tell me it’s linked to you in some way.” He’d like to take off Sevren’s glove to get a better look at the wound, but he isn’t sure Sevren will let him. Especially right now. “I found it at a pawn shop. You’d be surprised at the kinds of magical items that show up there.”
@cosmicstardreamer: “Dei....”
⤗ “Magic is volatile, okay? Everything’s fine it’s just a little... burnt.”
@hiisfire: HAH
⤗ “I’ll blow you up next.”
⤗ He’s smoking a bit. “My lab blew up.”

How long has he been gone? He’s lost track, but he did say he would bring the other some interesting books from his collection. Better late than never, he assumed.
But as soon as he stepped inside, he was greeted by the feeling of dread flooding his body. A door opening to a past he had long buried away, now crawling back to the surface like an unwanted guest.
The daze is enough for Sevren to drop the books he was holding, and instead step back with an escaped gasp.
“…”
“What’s that doing here? Surely not…”
⤗ “Oh, good! You can just put them on the--” Before there’s even a chance for him to say where to put them, Sevren drops everything on the floor. Deitrich would think the guy is doing it to mess with him if it weren’t for the look on his face.
For a moment he’s left stunned, staring at Sevren with a bit of shock. Then Deitrich carefully sidesteps the mess of books to put a hand on Sevren’s arm carefully. At the moment, there’s no knife in his hand, but he’d just been looking it over before his friend arrived and it’s left sitting on his desk in the other room.
“Sevren? Are you alright?”

“Well. I am an old man, technically. And I’ve earned the right to be a little grumpy. Plus, if you listened to some of the things that have been created to describe things in recent eras, you’d groan too.”
⤗ “Yeah, yeah. I know it’s not nearly as poetic as it used to be. Guess people grew out of that. Still, I don’t think you’ll be changing many minds when it comes to what they call STDs.” He’s still a little giggly. “You’d probably like the old language I use for spells. That’s flowery as hell.”

“Language doesn’t evolve, it just gets senselessly more complicated. More words for the same exact thing. Hff. Venereal diseases, coined for the Roman goddess of love, Venus, primarily titled as a means of stigmatizing sexually active people, including diseases such as syphilis and gonorrhea.” Squints. “Assuming that’s pretty much the same thing as sexually transmitted diseases, or STDs?”
⤗ He’s trying so hard to keep a straight face right now...

“You sound like such a grumpy old man right now.”

“… It’s a new term though. It’s just ‘sexually transmitted diseases’ right? That’s all it implies? When I was alive, those were called ‘venereal diseases’. Like syphilis, right? Why do you need a new term for something that was already working just fine?”
⤗ “Language evolves all the time. And I guess some people like things being a lot more obvious. It’s the term I learned in the 2000′s, can’t say I’ve ever heard that other one before.”

“… but I didn’t. Honest.” He had to ask someone else what they were after all. He tilts his head. “I guess it’s a good thing that I can’t get them, then?”
⤗ “I believe you, it’s just... Guess it’s a good thing I always play it safe, too. You should still be careful, even if you can’t catch anything.”

⤗ “Not anymore!” He’ll hold onto it for a couple seconds longer and then let go.

“Never really been one for parties, honestly? The last party I can remember going to was a celebration in another Realm for stopping a horde of Monsters from destroying a Village. I heled provide Music for it, kinda kept people from crowding me, but it was a decent time overall.”
⤗ “That’s fine. I’m not that big on parties, either--hence why I’m not invited to any.”
