With a murder of magpies

Once upon a time I would be seen as someone who brought nothing but trouble and bad tidings. I would like to say that some things have changed but it can be rather hard to make assumptions on premises that you do not understand completely. After all, my past is not completely mine. But for now, fellows and maidens, you may call me Loki Odinson, brother of Thor and young god of mischief.

-- - A symbol of a nation, he says. One would expect a book or perhaps a work of art to be bestowed such praise and promise. But no-- rather, it is a work of grease and the cause of aches in mortal hearts: deep fried twinkies.

-- -- - How was it any of his fault if they didn't know the loopholes in their own game? He simply played along what they said. No one said everyone had to walk a straight line along it!

"They're still my prizes now."

-- -- - In time, he will get used to it. The meetings, the new people, the  odd accent of Midgardians that  somehow evolved based on where they all lived and how. But the  workings of magic? Not so much. 

But then again, he was not one of  such magical talent either. 

        “Is that a vest made out of           dragon scales?”

-- -- -- The boy couldn’t help but pause  before he could even speak. It’s not  particularly odd to meet someone who is, well, him but it’s also been so long that he’s forgotten the know-how with it.  

   “You know, the Allfather would be      growling if he knew this meeting was      actually taking place. He’s already quite      displeased with me and my tricks.”

Alas, I’ve returned but–hm. I did not realize how long it has been since I’ve last resurfaced from the depths of midgardian diplomacy.

[He chuckled, setting the boy down near the table before heading over to the fridge. He should probably be worried, but honestly, he didn’t understand Loki’s magic so how could he possibly give him warnings? Besides, he’d been safe so far, if making random disappearances.]

You’re always hungry kiddo. Alright, I made spaghetti last night, want some of that?

Yes! And a pie on top. 

[Loki stretched his legs while settling into the nearest chair. The smell of home surrounded him, a welcome relief from his most recent memory of odorless air. Pressing his face into the table, the boy watched his adopted father with laziness of a spoiled son.] 

Where's everyone else?

[detectivewayne]

[He twirled around with the boy for a few moments, making his way toward the kitchen, not letting him go.]

Yep, has been for a month. Where’d your latest sabbatical take you?

[witfulmischief]

[He's still wiggling his legs though with how still his upper body is, there's clearly no true interest in getting away.] 

Nowhere. Quite literally. It felt as if I simply slept, mind out of place and body in a bubble. 

Connor--I'm hungry.

The signs say that it is already 2015!

A pity that such an interesting spell only resulted in what appears to be a highly traumatizing shift in time. Never again! 

Where is everyone? How many days?

"Thou would not dare!" Thor exclaimed loudly as a waitress came over to place two shakes upon the table. Thor grabbed one and held it in toast over to the cook, who saluted back. Thor took a hefty drink from the cold beverage, efficiently wiping his mouth with his sleeve before picking up his turkey leg and taking a new bite. "F-rother…" Thor started and swallowed his mouthful to continue. "To what purpose doth thy hold to have dabbled in a magic with such a consequence?" Thor question for as much as he trusted Loki, his brother always had a reason behind doing the things he did.

"Would I? Would I truly not dare? One would think that a reminder of your youth will do you some good when entering the realms of old age." He dragged the other shake and gave it a quick taste, grimacing at first at how it wasn't exactly what he wanted only to continue sipping at it. Free gifts are free, after all. "And on that note, you shall find the answer to your second question. What purpose does Loki have to do such things? Why--it can only be immortality."

"You swore and then you retracted your promise. Besides, I have friends."

"Often, and repeatedly— But seriously, no.”

"--Fine. There are other means."

Upon hearing Loki’s misfortune with magic Thor laughed. It was a mighty, and loud, and all if not annoying for how it carried on so in both volume and length, laugh, but in Thor’s defense he did not think to ever see his brother in a form that seemed only existed in both memory and eons ago. “Did I not warn thee in thy interest in such things as children! Now upon you I look and see my warning as fully reasonable!” Thor spluttered and laughed again. “Yes, yes brother share a seat and feast! I would love no better company than any who can make me laugh!”

"It is only unfortunate that such a result can come only from the uses of magic. I would prefer to have multiple options least my magic becomes completely hindered." Loki picked up one of the small pieces of meat before spearing it. "Shall I turn you into the youth you were once ages ago, brother?"
