Okay, so what we got from this preview is a confirmation of Atlas and Alcohol, your boy drinks to forget or to go on, no way to tell why until Wed (personally, I think we are gonna hear about something awful that happened to him and his comrades during his time with Union ala Orion season 3)

We also got a good look at his eyes, ya boi has broody ass brow and its got me goingggg

The background doesn’t look like the Promise but it could just as easily be a store room or even his room that MC snuck into. Someone threw out the suggestion of a bar and as interesting as it is, I really don’t think MC would be running into a bar, especially the seedy, semi-shady place Atlas would probably prefer

In all seriousness, it looks like a weird background. It’s almost like shelves or something in the back with a window. It could be a bar of some sort or a restaurant. Though, if you consider the fact that all the prologues have started with an attack or invasion of MC’s colony, it’s odd that Atlas would be in a public place having a drink.

I guess Atlas’ route will move away from this beginning, or it’s just Atlas drinking while the world goes to shit. We’ll see on Wednesday. ^^

He also has what looks like a gun in his hand. I wonder what that means. Is he holding up someone or coming to MC’s rescue while drinking?

Imagine a semi-drunk Atlas, trying to ignore the noise and commotion, but MC is getting harassed and eventually, he can’t take it and pulls out his gun.

“She’s with me, fuck off.”

I’ve been really puzzling over the background of where Atlas is. I compared it to the Promise and it doesn’t look alike. However, I did see something similar.

When you see the Promise’s main background, you can see a large window to the very back. Next to the window there is a space that kind of looks like the metal things behind Atlas. (Again “kind of” looks like it from what little you see in the Promise and without all the lights from the machines.) The preview also has what looks like a window to the side so it may be the same window in the Promise next to those metal things? And the chair Atlas is sitting on also looks identical to the one’s on the ship.

So, maybe the CG is in the Promise? Maybe MC snuck in the ship to escape the colony like a stowaway?

I’m not sure, but it looks interesting.

Edit: took a look at it again and saw that there’s screens in between the window and Atlas’ chair. This conflicts with it being inside the Promise unless Atlas turned the screens off or is sitting at an angle where you can’t see them.

On close inspection, I think what we are seeing is the highlighted section of the Promise bg here:

I now envision protagonist-chan sneaking aboard the Promise while she thinks nobody’s aboard, or ducking onto the ship to escape Empire soldiers... only for Atlas to swivel around in his seat, bottle in one hand and gun in the other, to demand just what she thinks she’s doing on his ship.

So… Am I the only one confused by the fact that Voltage lists blood-types as part of the profiles? It’s not like we’re ever going to need a blood transfusion from these guys…

It’s a Japanese thing! Or, well, I think it’s in several East Asian countries that blood type is considered an indicator of personality, a bit like Western astrological signs. Voltage character profiles give blood type as an indicator of what the guy’s temperament is like based on that superstition.

Wikipedia sums up thusly:

Here is what you can do about the spam posts that have been flooding the Voltage Inc tag! These spammers are using whatever popular tags they can find to increase the exposure of their clickbait. Hover over the username until the user info dropdown appears, click on the little person icon, and select “Flag this blog.” Then, on the report screen that comes up, click “This is spam,” then click the “Flag & Block” button. Then refresh the page. 

It’s not a perfect solution, since there are multiple spammer blogs, but you will no longer see posts from the blogs that you have flagged and blocked, so at least your view of the tag will not be terminally cluttered up with spam.

What you should not do is screencap the spam posts and repost the screenshots to the tag to ask or complain about them. That only contributes to the spam. We’ve all seen more than enough of those posts by now, there’s no need to recreate them.

After playing his route, I was curious enough about this to check! Turns out Kuso-no-Mikoto’s name is written “空疎尊”. “尊” for “Mikoto” has already been covered; “空疎,” read as “Kūso” or “Kuuso,” means “vain” or “futile.”

Still not what I’d call a flattering name, but not actually scatological.

Okay, so can I get a general consensus? How do ya’ll pronounce this domesticated homeboy’s name? 

I have just never heard of this name before for a guy. It’s the first time. Do you say Salmon? Say-min? Or Samone? Like Raven Samone? I kind of don’t want to know because that will ruin for me what I’ve been calling him this whole time but then again I want to know.

When I've heard the name "Samon" spoken in Japanese, it's been pronounced SAH-mon, with the emphasis on the first syllable. The "a" is the same short a sound as in Chikage's name, and the "mon" sounds the same as in "Pokemon," if that's helpful.

Sailor Moon Crystal is now officially the worst adaptation of Sailor Moon in all history. I don’t make the rules, that’s just how it is. Yuji Kobayashi should be fired for ruining this masterpiece of a manga, as he clearly never understands what women want. What Naoko Takeuchi strove for. The real Sailor Senshi would never hesitate to kill a man. The real Shitennou would be dead with no second thoughts or pity directed at them. They’d be forgotten like the chauvinist scum they are.

The real Sailor Senshi would never hesitate to kill an innocent victim who was brainwashed and controlled by the enemy against their will?

Because that is what the Shitennou are in Crystal: victims of the dark kingdom, just as much as any monster-of-the-week from the classic anime who got forcibly converted into a youma by that arc's villain and who the Senshi do, repeatedly and quite justifiably, hesitate to kill. Even a genuine bona fide jackhole like Game Machine Joe from the classic anime.

All quality judgments regarding Crystal or opinions regarding the Sen/Shi ships completely aside, the "real Sailor Senshi" I know would not be so heartless as to summarily kill anyone, male or female, who they knew was only opposing them because they'd been mind-controlled into it by the real villains. They might end up killing that person if there was no alternative, but it would certainly not be something that they would do without pity or second thought, or something that they would easily forget, whether that person was someone they knew or a complete stranger.

The Sailor Senshi I know are better people than that.

Now that I finally have access to this episode in good quality, I wanted to take a closer look at the Senshi flying/levitating move and whether Jupiter is responsible for it or not.

Everything points to this being Makoto’s move, actually. Right in that first cap, there are a couple of signs:

Makoto is higher up than everyone else;

There’s a good chance that the other three are looking at her while they’re flying;

The bubble is green, and Makoto is glowing that same color;

Perhaps most importantly: her tiara’s antenna is extended.

The next sequence involves Kunzite firing a blast at Minako that would have surely knocked her off the building. Mako-chan, being the awesome badass sweetheart that she is, dashes in and grabs Minako before immediately jumping off the building on her own. 

This is an important detail, because I highly doubt Makoto would have done that if she couldn’t initiate this levitating thing on her own. If she needed contact with at least 2 other Senshi for this to work, jumping off like that is way too risky. 

On top of that, note the way Rei and Ami jump off after them. Rei’s grabbed Ami’s hand and is reaching out to Makoto with the other. Again, Makoto is the only one glowing. She’s not glowing in the next shot though, which is curious…I think this may have been an oversight in the animation department. 

Especially considering that Makoto is glowing for a third time when we see the group again. At this point Ami has also moved over and is now in front of Rei, and it looks like she’s keeping a hold of Makoto’s hand or arm directly.

There wouldn’t have been any need to do that if this move depended on all of them. Instead, it looks like it’s definitely safer to seek out direct contact with Makoto specifically. 

So at this point, I’m about 99% convinced that Makoto is the one doing all this, and it raises some questions. My main question is: was it like this in the manga too? I didn’t actually remember, and I honestly thought it was some sort of Sailor Teleport thing.

Well, as the picture shows, it definitely looks like Jupiter is doing it in the manga too. It shows the same scenario: although everyone seems to have scrambled to take hold of one another and it looks like a mess, Jupiter is the one hauling them all up. That, and she’s the one who tells them they’re going to the top of the freaking Tokyo Tower in the first place. And her antenna is extended again!

I do wonder why Makoto was given this ability, though. Don’t get me wrong! It might not have anything to do with lightning or plants, but this fits Makoto very well. I’m just not quite sure what the logic is behind this move. 

But in the end, I’m pleased that Makoto got to do something that doesn’t have anything to do with food. Now she’s a food dispenser that can make everyone levitate! *snerk*

I wonder if it was meant to be related to Mako's connection to wind. This wasn't an aspect of her powers in the Classic anime, in which wind was symbolically within Sailor Uranus' wheelhouse - but "Flower Hurricane" is as much wind as plants, and her comment about having been guided to Juuban by the wind came directly from the manga as well. My general impression from the manga is that Jupiter's power covers storms and weather in general rather than strictly electricity, with wind coming in as a part of that.

Not that the levitation effect looks like a wind-based power in either version, but it's the only explanation I can think of.

Zoisite in drag as "Professor Izono" - like Nephrite's female disguise in Act 4 - actually came directly from the manga, like so:
