I was obsessed with Fnaf for like 9 years, dropped out because of Scott’s Bigotry reveal (and the fucking train wreck that is the story but mostly the bigotry), and only got reinvolved recently because I fell back in love with Fnaf world thanks to refreshed, and honestly? Fnaf as a story should not have worked. It’s like looking at a bacteria culture that should have died by now.
The first 4 Fnaf games and world were just people playing with toys. They came up with headcanons and voice claims, they shipped whoever they wanted, they made character interactions and comics on deviantart, and the story was just this flexible mass. With many years of hindsight, and a few unhinged YouTubers like JoeDoughBoi smashing their brain cells together, we realize that Scott might have actually had a story in mind that was satisfying.
Then Sister location came around, and we got names, voices, and solid evidence, at the cost of the original story. Then FFPS happened, and we got an ENDING, closure, and Helpy. Then UCN, which was just glorified fan service and challenging gameplay, which is NOT a complaint.
Then everything after was just experimentation. I love Fnaf VR as a concept (I Love U Dreadbear), and the security breach characters have kickstarted a whole new part of the fandoms that harkens back to the old days of playing with toys, but somehow it’s just, not the same? The games are worse despite all the work Scott put in to try and make a story after he failed, which is his OWN FAULT, and the wider fandom just seems to breeze past any actual story in favor of “content” and retelling the same story over again. When did this stop being a tragedy and start being a dark comedy?
This media was very important to me in my formative years. I still have a keychain of mangle I take everywhere. I’m just sad to see its corpse puppeted around by a bigot and a company that doesn’t even try to make something interesting. If a story has no end then why bother telling it at all?
Idk why I decided to drop this into your inbox. I’ve been digging though this site to try and find Fnaf art and artists I grew up with, and you were one of them. I guess thank you, for continuing to persevere with what makes you happy and share it with us.

not much to add personally other than we mostly agree, besides maybe being an odd one out in the fact that we're not really fussed over stories continuing as long as there's something to tell. i think the idea that the effects of what happened in the 1-6+UCN arc would continue into the future is fine and realistic. kindof ironically reflecting the hollowness of scott's storytelling at that point though LOL
something something it's exploring the universe more than just rebooting it like how spongebob never changes/does the same thing over and over etc. idk though our standards are just low x^) to each their own!
one of these days we'll have refreshed designs for everyone, when we're not distracted by desperately trying to keep up with bills/rent/meds OTL ~🌚
