Today and middle age Irish man, here on a religious pilgrimage trip, approached me at a bus stop and asked me "who is Ethel Cain?" (I was wearing my coachella Ethel tee with wrestling in dirt pits playing in my earbuds, because ofc I was lol)
I explained who she is, and we got to talking, about life and politics and religion
Incredibly sweet and cool person, a middle aged spiritual Christian leftist, whos also a writer, one of the modt based people I've ever met (we talked long about Palestine, leftist action and environmentalism)
He took a photo of my tshirt to look up Ethel later as he was fascinated by her story (when talking about the south, where I'm from and how Haydens music reflects her complicated relationship with god he said "I have a complicated relationship with god too, but i still choose to believe, even if I'm not sure he's there at all" and how "this universe is too big and incredible to think any one religion has the right answer" )
He asked if I was going around where his hotel was, because if I was he would love to run ip to his room and bring me down some copies of his little mini books hes written, and i was just going out for a sweet treat so I said sure
He offered me a soda, gave me 3 books and his card and asked me to email him
I told him I'll add a specific Ethel song he'll probably really relate to and he was very happy, shook my hand and said it was wonderful to meet and talk, then said goodbye and up to his room to get ready for evening vespers
What a wonderful little human encounter, I will deff send him that email and read his mini books <3
