Six months after the finale? They just gonna forget Erin existed. They suck!!

I am not impressed with the six month jump. I mean, I knew there would be a jump of some kind, because there seems to be one bridging all of the seasons. But those are typically a few weeks, which was what I had anticipated here.

Six months changes everything.

Six months is enough time for the unit to be functioning completely without Erin.

Six months is enough time that Jay may be thinking about moving on (UGH, I will need at least 6 more months to be ready for that)

But more than that, I don’t understand how a show that exists in a universe with several others can make such a huge leap in time. I know a lot of you don’t watch Fire or Med, so maybe I’m alone in caring about this?

Fire had a MAJOR cliffhanger for half of their cast (including Mouch, who is married to one of the characters on PD) – their premiere is picking up immediately after the finale. Yet it’s premiering the day after PD. So they will need to either keep Platt out of the premiere, spoil Fire’s premiere, or somehow pretend the shows exist in different worlds/times.

Med had a MAJOR cliffhanger for Dr. Charles. He was featured a lot on PD. And I would have liked to think that Jay would have potentially worked with him to help deal with the loss of Erin (obviously that won’t be anything we see at this point though). They aren’t premiering until January (at least that’s the plan now). So again, how will characters like Will Halstead be able to just casually pop into PD like before without giving something away? Because he would obviously be encountering the repercussions of losing Dr. Charles (who, for the record, I don’t think they will actually kill off).

My biggest issue with this franchise is they play both ways. The shows exist in the same timeline, in the same universe only when it is convenient for them. Other times they are on completely different planets. PICK A LANE.

I LOVE that they both ship Brettonio but also allows the writers to do what they feel is right for them.(okay I wouldn’t say allows, obviously they gotta do what is on the script but I’m glad they trust the writers lol)

I’m also digging the storyline of him questioning his happiness. It’s realistic cause you think when you get promoted, you’ll be much happier but turns out where you were at was a more better fit. It seems like a storyline that can involve rekindling things with Sylvie.
