                 slightly taken aback by her providing him with a personal, truthful explanation, philip starts thinking about both his mom & foster mother. anne shea was high most of the time & wasn’t able to cook for her son & sheriff helen torrance wasn’t around much & quite frankly ... her cooking wasn’t the greatest. philip understands bonding with parents over something specific, though     ------     he’s well-aware of the fact that motocross is crucial for lukas & his father’s relationship, for example. still, he only acknowledges her story by nodding, since he does not want to pry & potentially hit a nerve.         ❛     honestly, i think my stomach has gotten used to it by now     ------     it probably detects it as something healthy, considering that i haven’t died yet.     ❜         he chuckles, though, he’s only half-joking.         ❛     hey, i’m going to take that very seriously & beg you to make some actual food for me, so if you were only kidding, now’s the time to tell me.     ❜

She nodded. Small smile forming across her lips as she appreciated the fact he did ask. Giving her the chance she needed to speak up about it, not that she wanted to put it all on him but it was nice of the boy to listen. “If you’ve ever got something on your mind, don’t be afraid to talk to me. I’d be happy to listen and help in any way that I can.” Offering felt right. Their conversation may not have been long but he helped her more in a short amount of time than doctors and her sister did in months.                he draws his eyebrows together, suddenly appearing much older & as if he’s burdened with a lot ( not that he isn’t ). he often fantasises about being able to open his soul to another ( his mom & lukas aren’t here, so he cannot talk to them ), and now that he has the opportunity to do so, there’s an irritating lump in his throat that’s preventing him from spilling his deepest, darkest secrets. and maybe he shouldn’t spill them     ------     not just yet. but that doesn’t mean he can’t make it slightly easier for himself by telling parts of his story, ones that will make everything feel painfully REAL once he says them out loud.         ❛     there is something on my mind. someone, to be exact. my boyfriend     ------     he’s back in TIVOLI, which isn’t far away from here, but ...     ❜        a sigh breaks his confession.         ❛     we witnessed a triple homicide back home & the murderer went after us ... he shot my boyfriend. the fucker’s dead now, but ... i still can’t sleep at night, wondering whether he’s safe, whether my family’s safe.     ❜        he has to look away because once he remembers what happened to his mother, tears start forming in his distant eyes & all he wants to do is hide his broken expression.         ❛     see     ------     told you, it’s not interesting. just freaking depressing. but yeah. sorry for bringing the mood down. i’m just ... constantly worried.     ❜

It took her a moment to take in that information and process it. She never thought about it that way before. In all honesty she had no clue. Not one for being a learner as she didn’t have the patience to listen. “I’ve come across many as annoying as him. Maybe you’re right.” It’d make sense after all. Everyone had met someone like the people, animals and flowers in her dream. Alice could’ve easily collected all information on those types and dreamt up the most peculiar nonsense that she did. “I’m very sorry to have put all this on you. I’ve never had anyone to speak to before. I tried with my sister but she claimed me to be mad. Big mistake, really.” Family was never easy to talk to, especially about dreams. Her dream in particular. Keeping it from her parents was the wise thing to do. Especially after the conversation with Margaret. “I appreciate, so thank you.” She didn’t want to take the boy into the whole dream. It wasn’t something many wanted to hear.

Someone coming up to him and pressing their lips against his for a few hard seconds wasn’t exactly what he’d expected to happen to him tonight. The other had a weird, but somewhat familiar smell to him. It wasn’t common, but he’d smelt it around the city and apartment before. The taste was something new though. It was strange and he wasn’t entirely sure he liked it. The way the other is talking is a little funny too, but not something he’d say, seeing as many people had commented on his own way of speaking before. “d-on’t kn-ow” he shook his head, not sure of the hotel he was talking about “a-are o-k-ay?”

                  roaming the streets all alone at night in an unfamiliar town surely is a bad idea, but it becomes an even worse one when you add an alcoholic liquid to the equation. wasted, but still sipping from a half-full bottle of whiskey, philip’s walking clumsily, swaying from side to side, while trying to find his way back to the hotel that he has to call home now. it’s not long before he sees a dark-haired male in front of himself & chugs some more of the liquor prior to approaching him. however, instead of asking for directions immediately, he greets him with a thoughtless, hard kiss on the lips, one that surely made the stranger taste the strong, malt liquid on philip’s lips. when he pulls back, the drunk male doesn’t even apologise, but goes straight to his question, which he slurs.         ❛     d’you know where’s ... that hotel ... fuck, what’s it called ?!     ❜

                   last couple of weeks have been particularly hard for philip shea. being all alone in new york city isn’t what’s draining him & making it hard for him to leave the bed, but the struggle of not knowing what’s happening to his family, his boyfriend   ------   those who are stuck back home with a murderer on the loose. 

                   his small nose is still buried in scott’s neck, his hand gripping the soft fabric of his shirt right above his chest, but he’s no longer emitting any noises, or moving. his eyes are bloodshot & puffy, cheeks almost sticky from the salty tears that rolled all the way down, only to fall on the tanned skin. he’s numb & his eyes are painfully dry, but he’s comfortable & doesn’t feel like inching away from the body that’s radiating so much warmth. however, he does move his head & rests it on the other male’s shoulder, so that he could tiredly look up at him.         ❛     thank you.     ❜         the hoarse words hurt his sore throat, but it was absolutely necessary for him to get them out.

Eyes widened slightly at the boys words. As one who never had any friends, Alice was a little shocked that another was offering such a thing. Not sure whether or not to take his offer. She didn’t want him to believe she were mad. Her story wasn’t exactly normal or that interesting for that matter, at least in her eyes. It was something she indeed needed to speak up about, open up for once in her life since her family automatically classed her as bonkers when doing so with them. Which only made her more afraid to open up now. “The fact we don’t know once another isn’t a bother to me. It’s like that with practically everyone.” After a moment of silence, she nodded slowly, finally deciding to do so. “Alright. I once had a very real dream. I believed it to be real, during and for a short time afterwards, I suppose. Wonderland. I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve already heard of this, someone else I met has. I’m not quite sure how just yet but I’m not sure I want to know. Anyway, peculiar and a bunch of nonsense is an understatement. The problem is I finally got myself to realise it were a silly dream, only to come across someone in it. Cheshire, he’s a cat. Well, not now. He’s somehow human. It’s messing with my head. It was all suppose to be a dream, after all.”

                    philip would have to be an idiot not to notice that new york’s filled with characters from his favourite comics, video games, books & movies. & thankfully for alice, that’s something he realised a long time ago, so she won’t hear him calling her M A D. he smiles to himself once he puts it all together, but decides to sell her a lie, so that she wouldn’t be even more confused. he really doesn’t have the heart to tell her that she’s just a character ( well, perhaps she’s not   ------   she’s standing in front of him after all, isn’t she ?? ). he fakes contemplation, lips pressed together & eyebrows furrowed.         ❛     you know that you can’t actually have a dream about someone you’ve never seen before ?? it’s really a thing   ------   our brains can’t make up faces. so, perhaps you saw cheshire before, maybe you walked past him somewhere, and then he appeared in your dream ... as a cat. it’s possible, human brain’s a funny thing, it ... twists reality in our dreams.     ❜         he explains his opinion calmly, hoping she’d consider it to be true. he can’t help but secretly grin, though, thinking that he’d really like to meet the human version of cheshire & hang out with him.
