rewatching the show again because of course i am and i will say it never fucking fails to amuse me how harry grimly goes "there's only one thing that could do this..............black magic. the blackest." like in the most ominous tone he can manage with his like, ominous spinning magic crystal, and then literally like 0.005 seconds later he's like "ayyyy listen murphy we both know magic is fucking BULLSHIT and NOT REAL---" lmao

How about some pix from the shooting of “The Dresden Files” pilot?

1. Paul with his wizard staff!

2. Jim Butcher gets ready for a game of pick up hockey. It was great hosting him and his family on the set. I’m still not sure Jim was sold on the hockey stick. But he was nice about it. Note that Jim is wearing Harry’s actual duster and Paul is wearing our fireman’s coat. I have to be honest, I think ours photographed better.

3. The coldest day I ever worked. -20C plus windchill. 

4. Harry’s back office. This was a real location dressed up, so we had to rebuild it for the series as a set. That’s why, if you watch STORMFRONT, a lot of things in Harry’s shop and home look different.

I've already asked a Dresden question, but it's legitimately one of my favorite shows, so I guess I'll ask another: Who was your favorite character to write dialogue for? Or, alternately, did you have a particular exchange that you enjoyed writing moreso than any other?

No worries! I love the rare Dresden Files TV show question! I loved writing Bob, but I also really enjoyed our Harry. He's such a snark-fest. I especially enjoyed writing his voice overs. Scenes between Harry and Bob were usually super fun to write.

2. Hmmm, I have a lot of favorite exchanges, but here are three I particularly like:

From "Storm Front"

Harry Dresden: These people weren't stabbed, Murphy. Nothing touched them. Their hearts exploded out of their chests. There's only one thing that could do that.

Kirmani: A microwave?

From "Things That Go Bump"

Bob: Has anyone ever explained the concept of cost benefit analysis to you?

Harry Dresden: I dropped out of high school, remember?

Bob: And you wonder why your life is an unending series of insurmountable intellectual, financial, and emotional hurdles
