okay i’m really trying not be annoyingly impatient but. the ocarina reveal without a zelda 40th direct confirmation is driving me insane a TINY bit i. to me it just feels like they had no choice but to slip it in at the end of the direct after rumors/leaks and everything without consideration for the anniversary that is being waited on and everything that comes with that (movie news, new game title announcement, twilight princess for switch if that’s even happening anymore lmao).

as far as the remake itself goes. the fact that it looks VERY different is promising to me. just from seeing the fact that link’s tunic fits in with the environment beautifully, his room suggests that he lives in the forest also the THREADING on everything is really good. so from a design perspective it is all up my ally Except for the realism given my own preference especially with how stylistic zelda can be. i don't wanna say i hate the realism choice given that we've seen like 5 seconds but we'll see hopefully soon. i do really like the style with the mural? quilt? in the beginning, and long haired link if im not mistaken, but the only way this game can hit is for it to take the original narrative and fuck around with it in a way that is GOOD. even still that will not take away from the fact that this game is being remade for a second time and we still have no news for a New story so for now, cool stuff but still sour about it

one of my favorite things about witch hat is the moments after i read a chapter or watch an episode and immediately get this intense pressing feeling of Holy fuck i need to draw. like i need to go draw right now i need to put my ideas on paper only i can draw what’s in my mind even if it’s shitty now i can come back to it tomorrow or months from now who cares I NEED TO DRAW!!!

What I really love about Coco's and Agott's dynamic is the play on the usual 'works hard vs naturally talented' dynamic that we can often see with these pairings. Despite what you might assume at first from her sense of superiority and the tropes that usually come with it, Agott isn't naturally talented, just as much as Coco isn't. Agott is an incredibly hard worker and so is Coco. What makes them different is that Agott harbors the weigh of her perfectionism. Nothing is ever good enough, neat enough, fast enough for her. She's harsh on Coco but she's the harshest on herself, buckling under the weight of her own expectations and even more so when those expectations are presented by others. She has worked incredibly hard, she's incredibly skilled, but she struggles to find value and satisfaction in her skill because she's always striving for something More.

Coco on the other hand is more than aware she's a complete amateur and has it beaten over her head constantly (in no small amount by Agott herself). She knows she lacks knowledge and practice and sometimes she does get discouraged because of it. But the expectation that Coco won't know things or won't be able to do them perfectly is as freeing for her as it can be demoralizing. Despite the insecurity, Coco is urged ahead by her wonder and love for magic. She's very quick witted and a fast learner and most importantly, she's not afraid to fail! She knows it's very likely that she will fail so she's no longer afraid of it, she just pushes ahead to the best of her abilities, eagerly soaking in things she has seen and learn and tries again and again and again until she finally figures it out, basing her value as a witch on that moment of figuring it out and not on all the failures that came before.

As much as Agott is good for Coco as someone to learn from and emulate, so is Coco for Agott for those same exact things. Agott may be a well of practical knowledge, but Coco is the one that shows Agott that it's okay to fail, that it's okay to have to try over and over again, and that it's that very ability to try and fail and learn and try again that makes one eventually succeed.
