Oh all the time!! its actually really common for us to realize someone else was fronting in retrospect.

They do! I plan on drawing them but I haven't quite gotten around to it (mostly due to the fact that i'm not entirely sure what everyone's rooms looks like)

we ware talking to a friend who is also part of a system about front rooms, and it inspired us to draw ours! It originally was just going to be a quick / rough sketch, but we (aka me, purple) had so much fun sketching it that we just continued to draw

big fan of the image of your whole system. the art style is satisfying its very.. smooth

AA tysm!!! I usually go for a more textured style but i wanted to try a more smooth style for this blog since it made it easier to color, but i wasn't sure if it looked good!!! so it means a lot!!! :D!!!

Tricomponal

Definition:

Tricomponal refers to a type of subsystem that, in functionality, is similar to the "shoulder angel / shoulder devil" trope in western media.

A tricomponal subsystem is made up of three members, and those members each have distinct roles which allows the subsystem to be categorized as tricomponal in the first place: The "Shoulder," The "Angel," and The "Devil."

The Shoulder is the de-facto leader of the subsystem. They are like any other alter. What makes them a Shoulder is the fact that they are almost always accompanied by the Angel and the Devil.

If the Shoulder is active, there is a high chance that the Angel and the Devil are active along side them; and if the Shoulder is dormant, there is a high chance that the Angel and the Devil are dormant alongside them.

As for the The Angel and The Devil, they both serve the roles of Advisors. The difference between Advisors and Angels / Devils, is the fact that the Angel alter and the Devil alter are almost always working together, but have extremely different approaches to a situation.

The Devil is usually more akin to a Persecutor or Prosecutor, while The Angel is more akin to a Caretaker or a Ethic

(Small disclaimer: the role of Angel and Devil is NOT indicative of the alter's morality, and should both be treated with an equal degree of respect and compassion)

Flag Symbolism

Colors:

Blue: Represents the Angel Red: Represents the Devil Light Blue: Represents the Angel's influence on the Shoulder Light Red: Represents the Devil's influence on the Shoulder Purple: Represents the fact that the Angel and the Devil have common ground in advising the actions of the Shoulder. Green: Represents the Neutrality of the Shoulder.

Shapes:

Triangles: Represents the fact that its a subsystem made of three alters. Split Chevrons: Represents the constant clashing of the Angel and the Devil and their opinions on the best way to advise the Shoulder. However; together they form an arrow that points upwards, which represents the fact that both the Angel and the Devil are working together for a common goal.

Etymology

The etymology of "Tricomponal" comes from three places:

Tri-: a prefix of greco-latin origin that means "three" Component: which was chosen due to its links to Freud's theory of the psychological components, being the Id/Ego/Superego. The trope of "The shoulder angel / devil" is often compared to Freud's theory of the components. -al: a suffix of middle-english origin that means "of / like / related to / pertaining to"
