So obsessed with Ead and Sabran. I've already read The Priory of the Orange Tree through my Kindle twice in a span of two months, and I'm now just waiting for the paperback to arrive, so I can read it again and fall in love with their story for the third time. They've infected me with their sapphic yearning *sigh*

Samantha Shannon really sat down and said I’m going to give the gays everything they’ve ever wanted. I love how the Priory of the Orange Tree portrays Sabran's bisexuality and her being a widow. She wasn't married to Lievelyn out of love but she still loved him (or at least respected him) and he loved her. And then after he died, she mourned and only after some time she moved on and started her relationship with Ead. She still made it clear in many situations she missed and loved her husband (for example when she wanted to name her daughter after the place he died or when Niclays insulted his memory). Her mourning and then moving on was written perfectly and I loved that.

Also, I loved that Ead was never jealous of Lievelyn after he died. She let Sabran mourn and remember her husband and never tried to act like she wanted to replace him. She knew that Sabran loved her and was confident in their relationship from the moment it started. She knew she didn't have to fight with his memory and be jealous of him. She let Sabran love her and remember him at the same time.

I never know what to say when somebody asks me what the book I'm reading is about. In my head I'm all like, "It's about the crushing weight of the world born upon the shoulders of the matriarchs to bear generation after generation of heirs lest the world burn, all based upon the lie told by a man pretending himself a hero who's naught but a vainglorious coward."

And then I just stammer out, "uhh.. dragons."

Can't stop thinking about Kalyba. No one's doing it like her. She's an ancient legendary witch. She can appear to you in dreams and take the form of your greatest desires. She has absolutely no game. The woman is so un-insightful that she fumbles every attempt at seduction She's ever made. She's trying SO HARD to get some. Can't score Ead, can't score Tunuva, got betrayed by the saddest, wettest dog of a man BECAUSE she took the form of the love of his life. Galian destroyed every image of her in the country and then himself when he realized he'd been with her. She has EVERY tool at her disposal to be a legendary seductress and still cannot overcome her complete lack of game. I can't wait to see my favorite problematic immortal failwoman get rejected in even more time periods.
