April, 2013 Apple’s Scene Machine is a hit at DEAL !! Apple Industries’ Face Place Scene Machine received an enthusiastic response from visitors to the DEAL Show in Dubai last month. For its launch in the Middle East market, Scene Machine featured a new custom suite of photo backgrounds that included iconic cityscapes, skyscrapers and vistas from Dubai and the region. “DEAL is the Middle East’s leading amusement expo and the premier showcase for visitors across the Middle East to learn about and purchase new equipment,” said Apple CEO Allen Weisberg (pictured). “That’s why we are so thrilled by the incredibly strong reception that our new Scene Machine photo booth received at DEAL.” The new booth was presented at the show on the stand of Apple’s exclusive Middle East distributor Warehouse of Games, one of the largest distributors of amusement and vending equipment in the region. “The Middle East is a highly family-oriented region,” continued Weisberg. “It’s booming with lavish existing FECs. What’s more, newer and bigger FECs are being built there all the time. From the UAE to Saudi Arabia and well beyond, Scene Machine fits perfectly with the vibrant fun family culture of this part of the world.” Scene Machine incorporates a technology known as chroma key compositing into the photo strip images. The result allows customers to choose their own fantasy theme, then insert themselves into layered images that suggest a 3D environment. A green screen backdrop is located on the booth’s interior wall behind the customers to enable the chroma key software to replace the blank screen with images chosen by the patron. “With the Scene Machine, Hollywood digital effects magic comes to the photo booth industry in a fun, exciting way,” said Weisberg.“Big-budget movies use green screen technology to put an actor on another planet or in the middle of a dinosaur-filled jungle, “Now that same technology is available for photo booth patrons, exclusively through Apple’s Face Place Scene Machine photo booths.” Source: InterGame Magazine

Dubai-based Warehouse of Games has completed a turnkey project in Salalah, Oman.

Fun Station is the largest indoor FEC in the area with a floor space of 2,800sq.m, located in the Salalah Mall, a new shopping centre and the largest in the city with some of the top brand names in retail. It is due to open in May.

Warehouse of Games has supplied major rides from Italian manufacturers, together with a range of amusement games, video, redemption and novelty. The location has a jungle theme with all of the rides and games customised to fit.

Warehouse of Games is a Semnox card system dealer and authorised distributor for the Middle East. The company has completed an agreement with the Freij Entertainment company, the largest mobile rides operator in the world, to install a Semnox card system at the Freij operation that is opening at the Global Village, Dubai.

Warehouse of Games also reports that the SnoCross and Black Out games are doing well and there is a big demand for the new devices. Said Warehouse of Game’s Yuhanis Nawasreh: “These new video games are very popular, but purchasers will have to be patient as there is a backlog of orders because of the level of demand.”

The 2013 Dubai Entertainment Amusement and Leisure Show gets under way this week.

Taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre on April 23-25, the expo is considered by some within the industry to be second only to IAAPA in Florida as the most important international amusement event.

Now in its 19th year, DEAL represents the biggest platform for the industry to connect with buyers in the Middle East – arguably the biggest growth area anywhere in the world.

Among the 200-plus exhibitors are local giants Amusement Services International and Warehouse of Games, as well as international companies from Europe, Asia, South America and the US.

Investment in new projects is helping to drive growth within the amusement industry in the Middle East and parts of Africa, said Warehouse of Games’ Yuhanis Nawasreh.

The Dubai-based company’s sales and development manager explained that the last two years has seen the market “pick up” in the region.

“I believe now that the Middle East is the only region that is picking up again,” Nawasreh told InterGame at this week’s DEAL show. “There are a lot projects coming up in Saudi, Doha in Qatar, Jordan and even in Africa, in places like Sudan.”

Not all the Middle East is experiencing this level of growth he said, but the UAE, Saudi, Jordan and Qatar are all presently stable and seeing a significant level of investment.

Interestingly, the new projects in Sudan are being modeled on those found in Dubai, for example, with operators selecting the best games and prizes, he said.
