the thing that drives me up the wall about this whole tyler catastrophe situation is the people who defend him by saying "y'all just wanna make a trans person into a lolcow" because 1) trans people are regular people too and can be cringe and bad people, and treating them like they can never do any wrong isn't the #ally behavior they think it is, and 2) it exposes people who genuinely just have not kept up with his lore. on top of being extremely parasocial and doubling down on his defense of an abuser who admitted to the abuse and his hate for the victim, he, in no particular order:
claimed to be two spirit because he's from oklahoma and apparently has indigenous friends who were okay with it, despite him being white
thinks he's a person of color because he's part portuguese
said that the black man who he almost wrecked into was lucky it was him and not another white person or else he probably would've gotten hate crimed
has not changed his gofundme description despite it not being accurate anymore, and is still accepting donations, which goes against their terms of service
claimed he was a descendent - not relative, descendent - of edgar allen poe, who did not have any children
claims he shipped a necklace to antarctica
claims he invented his style of jewelry and nobody else is doing what he's doing
he buys charms for a couple of dollars from michaels or shein and then makes them into earrings and sells them for at LEAST $15
lied about a lexus getting totaled by his body, which would have killed him, and he was the cause of the accident and was uninsured
purposely mispronounced kunzite so he could say a slur
completely misconstrued the story of him meeting stuart semple so he could make it sound like he led him on and ghosted him
has copied more than one artist's paintings and pretended like he came up with the idea
this isn't even everything. he's completely obsessed with himself and wilbur soot, and it borders on narcissism, maybe histrionic.
so just a reminder, trans people can suck, and it's okay to hold them responsible when they do shitty things.
Also a reminder (because people on YouTube seem to 'forget' it 🙄): even shitty trans people deserve to have their pronouns respected!! If not for basic human decency then at least for your trans friends who will see you purposely misgendering a trans person
i agree fully. if we start purposely using the incorrect pronouns for people we don’t like, we establish the precedent that preferred pronouns are only granted if people like you. i see a lot of people use they/them for him which i guess is better than she/her but also not great. i don’t agree whatsoever with people misgendering him or being transphobic, i just think it’s unnecessary and adds nothing to their point
