Wolf + Werewolf kin, though I prefer to be referred to as a lycanthrope in regards to being a werewolf.
𓂃⛦ I am fairly certain I'm more aligned with Mackenzie River wolves, though I am still new to this.
𓂃⛦ Also a robot / machine / computer something or other, but this sideblog is meant to focus on my wolf and lycanthropic identities.
𓂃⛦ DMs and Asks are open.

Introducing Wild States, a new speculative fiction serial by the Sparrow System, set 30 years in our future where Species Affirming Therapy has been normalized but comes under threat of a very familiar-sounding reactionary administration.
***
Wild States will be published every Friday on ANIMAL's website. Check out the very first issue for yourself now, and support the Sparrow System's creative endeavours by sharing Wild States with others.
Came across this video and wanted to post it to show that wolves can make all kinds of silly sounds. Not just barks or howls or growls. Their vocals can even sound similar to foxes or coyotes, especially when they're playing around.
Affirmations for the unsure alterhumans and maybehumans:
You can still be alterhuman even if you acknowledge parts or all of your humanity.
You can still be alterhuman even if you find comfort in human rituals, culture, etc.
You can still be alterhuman even if you display human behaviors and characteristics.
You can still be alterhuman if you look or act nothing like your 'type.
You can still be alterhuman without dysphoria, euphoria, or both.
You can still be alterhuman even if you never plan to transition or present physically or socially as alterhuman.
You can still be alterhuman without blowing hundreds of thousands of dollars on gear.
You can still be alterhuman even if you aren't queer (surprisingly common misconception by the way!)
You can still be alterhuman even if you don't find the furry community appealing.
You can still be alterhuman even if there weren't 'signs' of alterhumanity in your childhood.
You can still be alterhuman even if you find aspects of alter/nonhumanity uncomfortable or scary (and this may change as you discover yourself!)
You can still be 100% alterhuman and 100% human at the same time.
You can still be alterhuman without misanthropy.
You can still be alterhuman without a spiritual connection to nature or a religion pertaining to nature.
Even if you aren't alterhuman, it's okay to be human.
Even if you aren't alterhuman forever, it's okay to recognize your humanity afterwards.
No seriously, it's okay to be human in some aspects or all aspects.
You don't have to constantly strive to be the 'most nonhuman thing possible' and you don't have to try and reinvent the wheel coming up with a new term thats 'more nonhuman' or 'further than humanity' than the last.
There are infinite ways to be alterhuman and you may never find a term to define yourself. You might not even find a species to label yourself as.
On the same coin you may find that your experience is painfully common, or not 'original' enough to warrant a 'true' experience. You have to remember that it's okay to be one of the gazillion black wolf psychological therians out there and that it is functionally the same (and has the same moral weight) as having brown eyes.
It's okay to be unlabeled.
It's okay if you wouldn't be considered alterhuman by the old standards from the days when alterhumanity was mostly on independent forum boards.
Grills and grilling aren't relevant anymore and it's better to block people that try to bring that back.
But it is never okay to lie to yourself to fit into a box that's too small for you.

Rolling submissions for ANIMAL are now live. Check out our submission guidelines on our website, or read more below.
We accept all genres of writing and all mediums of visual art created by individuals who identify with or as an animal in any capacity. Submissions need not be explicitly concerned with furry&alterhuman content alone, though such works are encouraged.
ANIMAL accepts:
Poetry: Up to five pages in a 12-point font, single spaced. If submitting multiple poems, the start of each poem should appear on a new page. Submit one file per submission with all poems in the same document.
Fiction: Short stories and flash fiction, with a maximum of 5,000 words. One story per submission.
Nonfiction: Creative nonfiction and essays, personal or academic. Maximum of 5,000 words, one piece per submission. We ask that academic essays be accompanied by a bibliography.
Visual art: Photography, collage, painting, digital illustration, and any medium/s that are able to be scanned or photographed to be submitted as a JPEG or similar format, such as a PNG or TIF file. Up to five pieces may be included in one submission.
Comics: Comics may be in black and white or colour and should be submitted as PDFs. Due to the form’s complexity, we accept a broad range of image-text approaches at a maximum of three pages per submission.
Articles, reviews, recommendations, and adjacent material: ANIMAL will publish short features of up to 1,000 words on a rolling basis, independent of any themed issue. Such features might be media reviews, a curated reading list, or a recipe. Email [email protected] with “feature” in the subject line to ensure we see your piece.
We do not accept AI-generated or AI-assisted works.
We ask that all poetry and prose submissions be formatted single spaced with a 12-point font. Authors intentionally using creative fonts and formats are encouraged to make a note of it in their submission. All submissions should be emailed to [email protected] as an attached file. Please indicate the category of your submission in the subject line. A cover letter is not required, but please provide a short third-person bio to accompany your work, including a name to attribute the piece to. We post on our Instagram and Tumblr when a new piece has been published; if you would like us to tag you in the description, please let us know.
ANIMAL does not accept work that has been previously curated, in print or online. Works may be previously self-published on social media, but may not have been published in books, magazines, or similar collections open to the public. If your piece is accepted, we ask that ANIMAL have first serial rights and non-exclusive digital rights. This means that we are granted the rights to be the first publication to publish your piece and that we may display your piece on our website indefinitely. Copyright will remain with you.
After we publish, you are free to submit your work to other publications, though we ask that ANIMAL be credited in subsequent reprints.
In the interest of accessibility, ANIMAL is free to submit to and read. Although we would love to compensate our contributors for their work, our small crew works fully on a volunteer basis and cannot currently pay for submissions. This is a passion project for us, and our hope is that as interest in the magazine grows we will be able to adopt a model that would allow us to compensate our artists and writers while still hosting free submissions.
Feel free to send us an ask or email us with any questions regarding submissions. We aim for a submission response time of two weeks, but we are a small crew. Feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] if we haven’t gotten back to you after a month.
